Sprites (also known as Transient Luminous Events, or TLEs for short) are large scale electrical discharges that occur high above thunderstorms in the upper atmosphere. They are massive phenomena, sometimes 50 km high and 50 km wide. They are commonly incorrectly referred to as "upper-atmospheric lighting" but they are much, much cooler than the blazing temperatures of ground lightning. The reason sprites glow red is because of the nitrogen molecules in the atmosphere that when excited by electrical discharges glow a red-orange color in the lower ionosphere and turn to a blue-purple glow just above the cloud decks.
and that's all
Ok so it's a real phenomena that happens on earth as usual.
planet just be like that sometimes
nah
it happens rarely and the below supercell has to have perfect conditions to produce lightning
and I forget to mention that sprites only occur when long and massive horizontal lighting strikes happen
also here's a diagram of the different types of sprites
Cool
Yes i know anyways, earth can be strange, interesting, and bizarre sometimes when it comes to natural occurrences.
Also, here's another natural occurrence.
Also, have you ever seen a moon rainbow?
uhhhhh yeah I think I once saw a moon bow or whatever
Yeah I've seen one last week, it was interesting and I didn't know they existed really.
Ok I know that phenomena now, I've heard of it a while back and just forgot about it for a while till now.
Epix.
What do you think?
