No. My personal canon has always been that encountering other humans in the backrooms (any level) is very rare. Some people manage to form large groups, but they are rare. One of the reasons why I chose to join this wiki rather than wikidot was because I disagreed with the wikidot removing colonies in level 0. From a creative perspective, I am deeply invested in the concept of groups on level 0 as they feature prominently in my story plans.
Level 0 is basically a place where almost all people come from, and it's basically the capital hub for factions to grow and form when newcomers come in.
I could be either side of this poll, but since I have a lack of interest on making a whole large sentence on a poll like this and also having an interesting concept coming up it'll be best for me to leave this for you and everyone's devices to discuss without me.
@Just A Interesting Dog Here. The thing about level 0 being a “hub” is my exact headcanon.
I'm thinking about it, and living in level 0 would not be feasible.
First off, can you imagine trying to sleep with an extremely loud buzzing sound and bright lights AND the feeling of being watched? Absolute nightmare, everyone there would be too sleep-deprived to really function well.
Second of all, no supplies to speak of. The most they could get is entity meat, and that would require resources to prepare. They'd need supply lines coming from other levels, and due to it's size and disorientation Level 0 would be hard to navigate to deliver supplies to and does not have enough overall value to be worth the difficulty. Level 1 does everything Level 0 does for a colony better.
Third, just founding a colony there would be hard. They'd need guards and laborers, except the laborers would be carrying building materials (Again, lack of building supplies on Level 0) and nothing else necessary and everyone would noclip to different locations. Without the option of going to level 1, most of the people actually building the colony would die or go insane before reaching it.
Also, how are you going to decide on a location for a colony? Everything looks the same, there are no landmarks, and since everyone is in different locations they can't just be like "Oh we'll go there". There needs to be a rendezvous, but since nobody knows where they are or where the rendezvous is that is an impossible task.
Finally, the risk of accidentally travelling to Level 1 or even Level 27 is too high to justify since you aren't going to see that person again.
Logistically, setting up a colony on Level 0 is nearly impossible and not worth the effort. Therefore, there should be no colonies on Level 0.
If someone could map out all 800,000 square miles of it and have maps with "YOU ARE HERE" pins sprinkled around, it could be feasible but creating that map itself is not.
