Very well said. Just to play devils advocate, and because your post is well written, I thought I'd make a case on behalf of the 2nd place answer so far, "Tiny Ones That Attack In Numbers". We see a lot of times, especially in the insect world, that intelligence can be quickly overpowered by small, mindless entities, as long as there's a lot of them.
Even my mom has a Mexican saying that basically translates to "Don't underestimate the ignorant, for they are many". Being attacked by one monster is one thing, but when you are fighting a mob of weak entities, it can be even more demoralizing seeing how no matter how many you kill, more keep coming.
This is illustrated in this wonderful scene from the movie A Bugs Life:
Relentless chasing is scariest if the thing's immortal. Something that looks disgusting is often not very dangerous, something that is enormous might ignore you, one that hides in the dark is literally just a tactic that will be employed by one smarter than you, one smarter than you will be effective and terrifying but will know when it's most efficient to stop trying to hunt you in particular so you can be home safe if you manage to evade it for a few hours. Tiny ones that attack in numbers are particularly scary to me, but not too dangerous either considering the tools humans have at their disposal.
One that chases you relentlessly, though, you can literally never escape from. It's just basically a countdown to your death.
Assuming all of them are immortal the relentless chasing one would be the scariest
Otherwise obviously the smart one because every other one can just be dealt with using a shotgun
"The enemy that you should fear is not the strongest one, but the one you can't see"
How can you know if theres something in the dark, waiting to bite and chew at anything that comes across it before its too late?
Because you can hear it, and it's said to not be a smart one. A smart monster would also do that but just be more stealthy with it and not be limited to the dark.
@PuppyBorkbutaccountgotwiped That goes the other way too. just as much as you can hear it is the same as just as much it can hear you. IT may not be able to SEE you, but it might HEAR you.
Yeah, but then you can just stand still and evade it. Assuming it can't see in the dark and you're smarter than it, the darkness will actually be disadvantageous.
In that case, sure it's scary but not any more dangerous
Assuming IT can't SMELL either, then yeah, you're correct.
Although a solution to that might just be to wear something that covers your scent, which may or may not hinder your silence stance.
One that simps for a gta stripper
What do you think?
