I was once really into SCPs. I pretty much binge-read them and all the lore behind them. It was really neat stuff. So much so, that I actually started writing a bunch of my own and tried to join in on the community.
But that was where things went downhill. I don’t know if I somehow pissed someone off along the way or if they’re just a tight-knit group or what, but I just couldn’t really get into the community. It was hard to engage with them in any way, and they refused to accept any SCPs I created. I didn’t understand why either; they were original, well-thought-out, thoroughly supernatural, adhered to pre-existing lore… I’m not sure what I was doing wrong (Hell, they wouldn’t even accept the three joke SCPs I made), and they wouldn’t give very much feedback as to what was going on.
In the end, I kinda got sick of how closed-off to newcomers the whole thing seemed and just left. The whole SCP thing was getting stale at that point, anyways, so I moved on to find something better. Soon enough, I became fascinated with Liminal Spaces and the effect they have on the mind, which eventually lead me here.
And you know what? I personally think this community was a major step up compared to the SCP community. But that’s just my experience.
