My answer explanation: I chose good because although there have been great canons such as the Soulverse, Crimsonverse, Impresario Canon (mine lol,) and others, there is a likelihood that is revealing itself already that many underdeveloped canons will appear, causing contradictions within the information on the wiki.
Whats the "Canon Trend"?
@RayneNormal The growth of "Canons" present in the Wiki; for instance, the Crimsonverse, the Impresario Canon, the Soulverse, etc. These all have pages that pertain to the same relevant piece of lore, such as an entity, deity, place, group, etc.
@Infiynite Hence my vote of good. Many canons are great, and some are mediocre, averaging at good.
My answer is also good, because it allows liberty of interpretation regarding the Backrooms and anything here. It encourage everyone to write more compelling pages with their own lore, rather than just plain, boring, overused levels. The trend does spawn several mediocre canons, but so far, there are almost no harm done to the community, other than slight confusion, which isn't a big deal as it's not so widespread. We go with our usual daily activities, everyday life of us talking about our own ideas, and to begin with, many authors contradict themselves with others. Doubt that it would ever decrease our quality of the wiki, because making a canon is not as easy as the spammy "rooms" trend. With much lower numbers of participants, we can can monitor each canons pretty easily than any other trends.
In my opinion, it's better this way, because those that made their own canons can actually explain their own views in proper storytelling, rather than kids who claims silly things like "haha I am godlike I can clear this level in 1 second" or even worse, the self-insert roleplayers. At least, by having canons, we have concrete data on the bases of each stories. The canon hub page is a great way to keep the canons organized, so we can also showcased the best of our works, while also keeping off any bad canons away.
Lil' explanation for my vote: we do have a lot of good canons here, as previously said, but as SkyCity says, "Don't add something just because all the other pages are doing it". Some canons and verses just don't fit inside our wiki, and don't add something significant to our database. The first ones that were made are the best ones, and I'll stand with it (until I make my own one 🙃).
I do not know if I want to ask any of you what you think of my canon thus far as it is still a work in progress.
The canon trend is okay, just some canon are a little too heavy on the lore, which isn't my cup of tea.
I dunno… I have a mixed stance on canons. On one hand, it feels as though there are too many canons at times, which really kinda begs the question of what is the true canon? What is the purpose of having different canons at all? How do you even differentiate what parts of the Wiki are canonical to each one? It just makes a mess out of the Backrooms lore as a whole and creates a lot of unnecessary hassle. On the other hand, there are some great canons out there, made by some of the more well-known users, that do make for fascinating iterations of the Backrooms, such as the Crimsonverse and Soulverse. So, that’s not to say different canons are all bad.
I think what should happen is keep the extra canons to a minimum. Only keep those that have a truly captivating interpretation of the Backrooms and are well thought out should stick around. Even then, we should still have a true canon that follows the original concept behind the Backrooms, just so that we have something consistent to follow across the Wiki.
What do you think?
