Arisen from the ashes
Is a phoenix in conflicting skin
As death is welcome, new life begins
In the remains of what once was.
Arisen for nothing
For process of life
For results of science
For nothing but foolish deeds.
But do we ever commit acts of virtue?
Selfish in nature
Claiming curiosity is the key
Curiosity killed the cat
But is that so when you're determined?
A new curiosity arises
From the ashes of a soul
Twisted, invoking fear
Threatening morals
Welcoming conscience
Tingling sensations to fill
The space of the ashes
A new phoenix arises
Taking anguish, to drown your own
Taking happiness, for the lack of it
Taking lives, for the one you shouldn't have.
Yet, all the same, death is what awakens you
What you've inflicted
All you've seen, the reality of it ending
You've grown selfish,
Due to your 'curiosity'
Awakening the beast you've held within.
In the midst of grief, you were taken
When you let your morals move aside
Your conscience takes hold
With the pain, with the lack of it.
In what once was accepted willingly
Humbly, in knowing good
Now, realizing the horrors of your actions
You still wish to cling to the mistaken chance
A chance you weren't given
You aren't chosen, not special
You're burning to a pile of defeat
Because once you find the answer, the game is over.
Arisen from the ashes
Is a phoenix let free
Having been trapped in a body for too long.
A conscience that wasn't your own
Has seen the end of everything
And has created the beginning
Moving back into the ashes, the conflicting phoenix returns
Set back on another twist
Moving through the same events, the same feelings
The same lack of them
As the cycle will repeat
As your actions will turn to face you
As a phoenix will rise
Only to be met with death once more.
