>> Okay… It’s been a bit since the last log. I’ll try and sum up everything that’s happened.
A few days ago, I met four other survivors. The initial meeting was… less than pleasant. I couldn’t take any chances, so… Let’s just say I made sure they couldn’t, either. Luckily, one of the survivors, Nicole, was able to intervene and help us all come to an understanding, so props to her for that.
Since then, we’ve all joined up and are traveling together. We don’t all trust each other yet — nor should we — but it’s pretty surprising that we’ve managed to get along and agree to watch each other’s backs without much trouble.
[There is a pause as Dr. Stein is heard moving around.]
They’re all out getting food now. I’m in a corner at the Cup O’ Joe, waiting. Still trying to decide if I’m hungry yet. It’s been a long… Heh. None of that makes any sense, does it? Right. Okay, heheh… Back on track.
We had been traveling through Level 4 for a while, restocking what supplies we could along the way. Then a neat little idea came up… We have ourselves a good little group here. If we put together everyone’s knowledge, I think we could form our own “team,” so to speak. I consulted the Database and even contacted some of the other users about the other factions the others belong to… It doesn’t look like I should join any of them, but if I could convince the others to join me… I think it’s worth a shot.
Not a whole lot of progress has been made so far. They’re mostly dead-set on staying with their respective groups. Well, aside from Nicole. She doesn’t have a group, currently, so she was easy to convince. The others require more work, though. In the meantime, I’ve convinced them to talk about it over a meal and maybe sleep on it. Then we’ll see where we go from there.
We’re in a neat little spot called Level 6.1 right now, where we’ll do just that. Turns out it was accessible via a vending machine on Level 4. Just had to no-clip through it.
Yeah, no-clip. As in, the video game term, no-clip. It’s apparently a fundamental part of the Backrooms, and it was quite… interesting to have to learn while trying to get here. No matter how hard I tried I kept struggling with the fact that I was running into a solid object. It was… difficult to get past that mental barrier, but the others were nice enough to step in and give a few tips that helped me figure it out.
Anyways, now it’s just a matter of waiting now. It’ll take some convincing, but I think we’d work well together as a team. It would definitely make traveling the Backrooms easier.
[There is a pause, followed by the sound of sipping, then a sharp exhale.]
Yeah, this is some good coffee. They know what they’re doing here… And it’s definitely nice to have drink that doesn’t taste like Almonds… Although, I gotta admit, Almond Water is kinda growing on me. I think my favorite has to be the Coconut flavor. I could —
[Footsteps are heard drawing closer.]
Nicole: Coffee? That’s all you’re gonna have?
Stein: I’ve been trying to figure out if I’m hungry and what I’m hungry for…. Although, the Tour of Italy place sounds pretty good. Might check that out. What did you get?
Nicole: Uhh… Mexican food. A simple burrito sounded amazing.
Stein: Nice… Where’s everyone else?
Nicole: About to get their food. They should be on their way in a minute. You ready?
Stein: Yeah… Yeah, I think so.
Nicole: Alright. Let’s do this.
Stein: Let the talks begin…
