A.A.E.G.
Andrew Austin Explorer Group

Description[]

The A.A.E.G is a grouping of around 400 - 550 people in size. They are the best protectors of entities in all the Backrooms. They want to understand them and, if they can, communicate with them. They have relatively advanced technology, with some great inventions, such as The FAX, which was invented by one of the 4-S. The FAX is one of the best communication tools throughout the Backrooms and has aided in the A.A.E.G's investigations of entities in multiple levels, allowing direct communication between levels.

The A.A.E.G has achieved some things on their objectives to understand, comprehend, socialize, and live with entities without any problems. Many advances have produced positive results, such as completely understanding the behaviour of an entity or socializing for a matter of a few minutes.

The A.A.E.G is usually always behind some significant investigations towards entities, thus acquiring Data for The 4 Files. The 4 Files is the name of the homepage of the A.A.E.G that has all the information of the entities investigated. There is also a part of The 4 Files that is completely public. In that section, there are various things like shops where you can buy FAX Prototypes, Emotional Glass, among other things that help with survival. Also within The 4 Files, there is a collection of secret things that are A.A.E.G and not on the visible side to the public and you need to possess A.A.E.G to see it.

The A.A.E.G has both worked for— and continues to work for— the recognition of entities with human-equivalent or higher intelligence, as being entitled to the same rights and access as every human. They appear to be working to provide such entities with equal opportunities and possibilities, not less. The A.A.E.G is completely against groups that destroy or attack entities. One of these groups is A.E.G., a group entirely devoted to destroying and killing entities.

The A.A.E.G has its main base, which is called Base A, on Level 622, a fully established base where they have their database and where most of the people belonging to the A.A.E.G live. Although A.A.E.G is not well known in the Backrooms, they have a very important role in the investigation and understanding of entities.

History[]

The Four (1989–1999)[]

In the year of 1989, two acquaintances met at an unknown level and later formed the A.A.E.G. The two friends were Andrew and Austin. After some time of surviving together on that level, they then proceeded to discover more levels that they could discover and tell to the public. However, at the time, it was only the two of them, therefore investigating was very difficult.

After an exploration at a dangerous level, Andrew and Austin both reached Level 154, where they rested for a weekend, to say the least, and eventually reached Base Alpha. During their time at Base Alpha, they met a boy who went by the name Gabriel—a guy who was passionate about entities. He wanted to know about them and learn about them even more, in fact, Gabriel had come up with a way to easily communicate with them. Andrew had offered him to join the group, and Gabriel accepted, so they continued investigating a few more levels.

Upon visiting again to Level 154, they met a boy named Mathew. He was very quiet and did not talk much, but wanted to be the most known person in Backrooms. He wanted power and was also very excited to explore levels. In the end, after meeting with him, they spoke to Mathew asking him to join the group and he said yes he wanted power and that he believed he could help make this group one of the strongest groups.

That's how the four founders of the A.A.E.G came together—also known as the 4-S.

After they were formed, the investigations continued. At that time, the mission of the A.A.E.G was not defined yet. They just wanted to explore levels. They didn't even have a base. They were only focused on growing and developing their investigations. Those years were progress years; nothing happened—only progressing as a group and having some progress.

During that time, the FAX, was created a big step forward created by Austin.

Broken Values (1999–2002)[]

This is the period with the least known information, however, even from the few things we do know, we can reconstruct some of the narrative. Mathew proposed that he hoped to develop safe bases by taking a Class 5 or Class 4 level and turning it into a Class 2 or Class 1 level that would be entirely habitable. The problem with that proposal was the entities. What Mathew did was lie to the other 4-S to gain their consent to move forward with the proposal. He told them that the entities would be captured but would, in no manner, be harmed that the tests would be entirely safe and that the 4-S would be no damage to the entities and or whatever existed at that location.

The 4-S believed him-except one; Andrew. Andrew was smarter than the rest of the 4-S and for that, he distanced himself from Mathew, and so as a result, was removed for moving against the 4-S and refusing to back Mathew's project.

Through the process, the 4-S were able to convert a Class 4 level into a Class 2 level, and it changed everything they thought they knew about the Backrooms. That is why they knew that they needed to conquer more of these levels to do the same things in regard to the Backrooms. They had at that point, conquered Level 634 and began to attempt the ongoing project.

Just before the reclassification, the truth came out: the project was a sham. Mathew had misclassified entities, and the Class 4 level designated as Class 2 had become full of entities and was destroyed, reverting to Class 5. They realized the project was a failure and only destroyed levels.

After they discovered the truth, the 4-S expelled Mathew and sent him to unknown level. They let Andrew come back, but now they didn't know what to do with Level 634. They decided that it would become their base and they stayed there for a time, then after an undisclosed event, they had to abandon the level.

This was one of the darkest and least documented periods in the group's history.Since then the project was known as the Colony Project.

The Reconstruction (2003–2016)[]

This time is one of the most recognized and significant for the A.A.E.G because it marked the complete reconstruction of the group. This was the time when their main goal was accomplished and they got their base. This era began after the chaos of the Colony project. What they did was better itself, because they had chaos onto a whole level and harmed entities. The 4-S had a meeting in which they defined their main objective as a group. The winning goal was to protect and care for entities, which they regretted a lot. That is why that goal became, to honour entities and the level which was harmed by the project.

During this time a lot of members arrived to the group. It went from around 200 members to 400, it basically doubled. In this time many FAX prototypes could be too improved. And one more thing that was discovered, was the main base of the A.A.E.G: Base A was located in Level 622. That base became a very large safe refuge for anyone who went there.

The name “Base A” comes from Andrew and Austin because “A” is the first letter of both of their names. At this point, the 4-S had begun to pull away from exploration and were starting to observe and make important decisions together.

The A.A.E.G was also among the most important traders in the Backrooms because of Object 43, one of the most powerful items regarding mental health. It is quite popular to use here and is used in Base A, sold, and promoted.

Thanks to the establishment of Base A, all of the organization became much easier. With the contrast in values, they began to communicate with other groups that would form a synergy and ultimately better working relationships.

When Phenomenon 12 struck in 2016, BASE A was a relatively safe space, even though Level 622 was in horrible shape—it was without any electricity and threw the occupants into an eternal night as a consequence of Phenomenon 12. A.A.E.G took its share of numerous houses within the level and worked to build a small shelter and seek refuge. Later on, they faced a major outbreak of Smilers along with multiple other threats, which they managed to survive after all. One of the more notable discoveries that came out of that time was Object 43, and how they could stay calm and focused, even when things were getting worse.

When the electricity finally came back on and the eternal night ended, the A.A.E.G were ready to search the other levels for more survivors and bring them back to Base A to help unload their burden.

New Discoveries (2017–Present)[]

o far, this era has had the most activity and discoveries. Following everything that happened in the previous era, the A.A.E.G determined that they needed to create alliances with other groups. So, they began communicating with other groups to improve on whatever was possible together.

They also have had disappearances leaving some expeditions and discovering newer levels with The Call and Level 778. And they have confronted many phenomena and odd cases. One of the biggest phenomena was Mental Disconnection, one of the listed effects they discovered that could help immensely in more research into the odd impacts the Backrooms have on people.

They also improved their economy and channels of operation by adding many more features to improve Base A, making it one of the safest bases possible.

They also found another base, which is called Pilitcan. Pilitcan is a small base that has approximately 150 - 200 members. It was found in Level 396 and is small, but a lot of trading and exploring, as well as entity studies, were done at Pilitcan. It should be noted that there are only a few active members now, as some members have gone over to Base A due to better supplies, and resources of A.A.E.G that were in large amounts.

On the other hand, they made huge technological leaps with the FAX. It can even now determine exactly what level you are located in at the moment, and if you are in a previously undocumented territory, it is tagged as "newly discovered".

Within this period, The official A.A.E.G website was also created, which was known as The 4 Files. The website has helped the group grow and change beyond all recognition.

This era continues to be the most advanced era for the A.A.E.G, where they have achieved the most developments and improvements.

Relations with Other Groups[]

The A.A.E.G is not a group that often interacts with others but had a few conflicts and small alliances with other groups. Some of those have included:

M.E.G.
[]

After The Flicker they made a small alliance together to share food, supplies, and some other resources to help support one another while exploring more levels to see and report all that happened after The Flicker.

A.E.G.
[]

Their differences in goals have led them to mostly have a variety of issues and disputes since the A.E.G.'s goal is to completely exterminate all entities in the Backrooms, while the A.A.E.G's goal is to safeguard and save all of the entities with the exception of the few in Line of Duty. These two groups had multiple disagreements, one, in particular, was

(Protocol: Found Exit)

when the A.E.G. attempted to go through Level 622 to reach level ###, to eliminate some of the entities labelled as dangerous. The A.A.E.G did not let them pass, this caused a short war to occur on Level 622 which ended with the A.E.G. almost destroying level 622, while still failing to reach the next level.

XONE
[]

The A.A.E.G. finds XONE's actions toward entities to be despicable. The A.A.E.G. knows that, simply due to the aggressive nature of XONE, any member of that group that is seen in Level 622 or in any of their facilities will be attacked regardless of whether or not the A.A.E.G. had direct contact with that member.

CWS
[]

The A.A.E.G. and C.W.S. have maintained a positive working relationship, which has developed through mutual support and cooperation. This relationship has resulted in the two groups sharing many of the same responsibilities and providing one another with assistance and support.

Both groups generally view one another favourably and continue to maintain stable and harmonious relationships. However, tension has arisen primarily from the C.W.S.'s use of violence, which contradicts the A.A.E.G.'s pacifist principles and has been openly condemned by the A.A.E.G. . Another key conflict point is the time when the C.W.S. lived on Level 634 with the A.A.E.G., who provided them a safe haven; after a significant event changed Level 634, disputes emerged regarding responsibility for this event.

The A.A.E.G. feels resentment toward the C.W.S. for the C.W.S.'s assertion that the A.A.E.G. was responsible for the catastrophic event that caused Level 634 to decline. During this time of accusation, the relationship of the two groups weakened significantly; however, they continue to support each other and to communicate regularly about each other's research ideas and the acquisition of resources.

At present, relations remain mostly cooperative and stable, though underlying tensions persist due to unresolved accusations and past incidents.

Hierarchy[]

Hierarchy.

H12

The internal hierarchy of the A.A.E.G is designed to be fair and efficient and with a minimum of stratification. The structure has equity among most members, allowing them to be proactively engaged, as opposed to passively engaged, with no limiting status features. Each branch in the diagram is an identified function or grouping within the organization, and while each job may be different, almost all members have equal authority.

At the top of the structure is the 4-S division. The 4-S division is made of the four founders of the group: Andrew, Austin, Gabriel, and Mathew. In the overall flat structure, the 4-S team holds the final authority over all decisions. Their responsibilities include the following:

Choosing the next level to investigate

Setting strategic priorities

Managing relationships with some groups outside of the group

Reacting to significant events like an outbreak by an entity or an instability in the levels

The bottom vertical branch in the diagram represents a group of workers further removed from another investigation of levels or entities. These members often facilitate logistic support, and internal coordination, or serve in field roles with a lesser risk profile.

This equilibrium, between horizontal ladder equality and vertical top-level coordination allows A.A.E.G to act as an integrated, adaptive force but as a whole for the organization arguing toward order and shared vision through its original core leadership.
