The one and only photograph of Acolyte 3 from Level 8, took in 1907.
Description[]
Acolyte 3 is a former hypothetical enigmatic entity rarely encountered in Level 8. The entity exhibits a nearly skeletal frame, standing at approximately 6'7". Its body is slender, with an unnaturally long forehead, though these characteristics are largely hypothesized from the single known photograph. Despite its transparency and intangibility, Acolyte 3 is distinctly present and not a mere illusion, unlike how it's been thought by everyone until ██ / ██ / 201█, when M.E.G. officials revealed the truth. Background[]
The first and only confirmed sighting of Acolyte 3 occurred in 1907 by the M.E.G. researcher ███ ██████ who subsequently committed suicide under mysterious circumstances. This sighting was initially dismissed as a hoax until 201█, when both M.E.G. and E.R.C. verified the authenticity of the footage.
Standing at approximately 6'7, the entity has a nearly skeletal frame, with a slender and elongated body. It is presumed to have an elongated forehead. The limbs are thin and bony, accentuating the skeletal nature of its overall structure.
From 200█ to 201█, E.R.C. officials embarked on an intensive exploration mission dedicated to locating the site of the alleged encounter within Level 8. After four years of meticulous exploration and analysis, the E.R.C. team made a groundbreaking discovery. In a remote section of Level 8, they found the exact location described in the 1907 footage. The site bore all the hallmarks detailed in the researcher's account: the cave walls, the specific rock formations, and, most notably, the blood-stained inscription of the poem left by the M.E.G. researcher after cutting their own wrists.
"And all the parts combine to one,
And all of us around the sun,
Everything will fall away,
To order from the disarray,
See the sun, the shadows cast,
From all the times I floated past,
See the ocean spinning out,
With all the hope and all the doubt,
A genius mind, a silent knell,
His thoughts, a labyrinthine maze,
In darkness, he roams, lost in the empty haze..."
Surprisingly completely identical with the poem in The Barrier's exit except the last three parts that are additional. This forms heavy questions about it's connection to Acolyte 1 and Acolyte 2, which are speculated to be deeply in touch with The Barrier. This still remains a mystery.
Capabilities & Anomalies[]
A more abstract theory suggests that Acolyte 3 exerts an existential influence on those who encounter it, prompting existential crises or confrontations with the nature of reality. This could explain the profound psychological effects reported by witnesses, as well as the cryptic nature of the poem it recites.
Perhaps the greatest mystery surrounding Acolyte 3 is why ███ ██████ took their own life after encountering the entity. Speculations range from psychological trauma induced by the encounter to the possibility of the entity exerting direct influence over the victim's mind, driving them to despair.
More[]
It is still a mystery if the entity has awareness of it's environtment or not, and it will not be searched deeply thanks to the extreme low chances to encounter it, at least in a close future. It is undecided if calculations on it's randomized chances of appearing will be made in order to track it in Backrooms. This seems particularly impossible. Deep investigation will not be made until the entity gets directly encountered by a cautious researcher or if any proof implying it is founded somehow, which doesn't seem possible.
Ongoing investigations will focus on the poem's significance and any potential anomaly. Efforts will continue to locate any additional evidence or testimonies that might shed light on Acolyte 3’s origins, behavior, and intentions; even if it seems truly impossible.
After the verification of the entity -which was thought to be a hoax for more than a century by authorities-, lots and lots of explorers reported about it, but none of those reports have any proofs. Accounts of Acolyte 3 vary widely in their descriptions, leading to inconsistencies in details such as its appearance, behavior, and the circumstances of the encounter. These discrepancies raise doubts about the reliability of the eyewitnesses' testimonies.
In some cases, purported sightings of Acolyte 3 may be deliberate pranks perpetrated by individuals seeking to deceive or manipulate others within the research and exploration communities. These instances further muddy the waters and undermine the credibility of genuine research efforts.
