An image of an Agony Swan, Its secondary mouth is underwater.
Entity 84, also known as "Agony Swans", "Grimace Swans", or "Hell Swans", are a species of avian entity that inhabit mostly water based levels. Infamous for their carnivorous diet, they have been known to eat prey using a second mouth located inside their throat.
Description
Agony Swans resemble Cygnus Atratus, more commonly known as the Black Swan, albeit with a second mouth located within the throats of adult specimens. These secondary mouths serve a similar function as the tongue of a chameleon, as they eject out with the speed of a snake from within their throats to a length of 3 feet, and latch onto prey with their human-like teeth.
Traces of this secondary mouth begin forming in the very earliest stages of the Agony Swan's development. These mouths when fully formed will almost seem more like a secondary head that ejects out from within, although this one will lack feathers or any skin at all, making them incredibly shocking and disturbing when seen. When a fully grown Agony Swan extends both its neck and secondary mouth to full length, it can reach an attacking distance of 6 feet, allowing it to take many targets off-guard and finish them with a single, well placed bit.
Behavior
Agony Swans behave very similar to ordinary swans in the Frontrooms when in a passive state, however these swans are known to be dauntless, and will attack anything that they perceive as a threat to them or their chicks, even if it is far larger than them. This has culminated in Agony Swans attacking entities, wanderers and even other swans very frequently. When they feel threatened, Agony Swans will rear up, revealing their second mouth and hiss loudly. If this display fails to ward off the perceived aggressor, the swan will attack.
Agony Swans are mostly carnivorous, although they will eat vegetation if needed. They have also been spotted dabbling underwater to feed, similar to their Frontroom swan brethren. Agony Swans can also utilize their wings to chase after prey with the ability to fly, like Death Moths or Bee Orbs. It has been theorized by some that the territorial nature of the Agony Swans is due to their parental instincts, as Agony Swans are known to be monogamous and will mate for life with a single individual with which they will produce dozens of baby Agony Swans over a lifespan of approximately 10 years. Agony Swan chicks are completely docile, and mostly rely on their parents for protection until they mature enough to defend themselves (which usually takes 9 months, the amount of time for their secondary mouths to form).
Agony Swans will nest near bodies of water, where they raise their chicks until they are about 2 years of age, after which the young Agony Swans will go off on their own. Both parents play an active role throughout their children's lives. Chicks are fed pieces of meat and taught how to hunt prey to prepare them for their future. If the need arises, Agony Swans will leave their nest in search of other places to nest.
To date, all attempts to tame Agony Swans have gone poorly, and ended in grievous injury or even death.
Discovery
Records of the discovery of Entity 84 date back to 1999 where a man was assaulted by one after wandering too close to its nest on an unidentified level. The man survived, but with severe injury.
Entity 84 received formal entity classification in 2000.
