Entity Number: 63

Habitats: Level 9, or any of its sub-levels with a visible road

Description

Asphalt Lurkers are hostile entities, seem commonly in Level 9. They typically have many bits and pieces of asphalt sticking to them mainly used as a camouflage tactic. Asphalt Lurkers are typically hostile, so it is not recommended getting close to one.

These entities are very durable despite being made of petroleum. The asphalt on a Asphalt Lurker is thought to be on them due to the high stickiness of the entity, and the gradual evolution for it to become a camouflage tactic.

Behaviors

Asphalt Lurkers will typically wander around Level 9 or its sub-levels for a indefinite amount of time, until it proceeds to go into a hunting form. These entities while roaming the streets will wander at a methodical pace, so it is easy to outrun them when one is trying to attack you.

Upon deciding to go into a hunting form, the entity will search a large enough pothole, and seemingly melt, filling it up no matter the size; and if the entity doesn't find one it will make one with its highly corrosive body. The entity will then wait, until a car or wanderer has stumbled upon it. If a wanderer has accidentally touched it, one of the entities arm will seemingly pull the wanderer down, with the immense corrosive capabilities aiding in the process. When a Asphalt Lurker will seemingly "consume" a wanderer it will return to its regular state, wandering again. If it has felt a car, it will corrode the tires, then become solid and corrode the cars door, trying to consume the wanderer inside the car.

The best way to spot an Asphalt Lurker is to watch out for bubbles appearing on the road, which will sign a Asphalt Lurker is there, with its corrosiveness making the bubbles.

Biology

Asphalt Lurkers resemble humanoids, entirely compromised of a gooey light grey asphalt-like material, which is used mainly for hunting tactics. Upon closer inspection, Asphalt Lurkers seem to be made up of two different chemical compounds, petroleum; and a unknown substance labeled "mordavieum" known to get its corrosive properties.

They seem to prey on entities smaller or the size of wanderers, such as Hounds, Skin-Stealers, or even rarely Smilers.

Discovery

The discovery of this entity was shortly after Level 9 was discovered, when three wanderers found a bubbling part of the road, and threw a rock at it; watching it sink, then proceeded to tell the closest M.E.G base about this occurrence; then shortly after the regular form of Asphalt Lurkers was discovered.
