Overview[]

This will hopefully provide a way for authors to get their pages critiqued or greenlit sooner without a significantly long wait time. The page will be broken up into 2 categories, Greenlighters and Critics. Just because a member of the Staff Team is not on here, does not mean they cannot greenlight either, they just may be too busy to do that.

Greenlighters are usually staff members who have the ability to formally approve of pages. This does not mean they are protected from deletion, it is only a more official approval. Greenlighters are not required to go through in order to get a page published either, but getting help from them and Critics is extremely encouraged. Critics are community members offering up their time and energy to critique pages. While they are unable to greenlight, they are just as helpful and their advice should be held to the same level of respect.

When reaching out to a member of the crit team, you should read their profile in its entirety. It contains key information about what they specialize in, and what they are willing to critique. Criticism is also not guaranteed, as these are people who have lives outside of the wiki. The crit team has the permission to deny their service (or a greenlight) for any reason, and that is to be respected. If you are found to be spamming or otherwise acting rudely to the crit team, there will be disciplinary action.

Normal
Availability Status: Yellow

Timezone: HKT
Preferred Contact Method: Discord DMs and/or Message Wall
Avg. Response Time: WITHIN 24 hours trust

Specialties: Writing..?
Willing to Crit: toss me ANYTHING
Unwilling to Crit: there is nothing I won’t challenge

Contact Template:
NOPE

PortulTrademark
Availability Status: Green

Timezone: CST (GMT-6)
Preferred Contact Method: My message wall, I may appear in Discord threads if pinged. I'll respond rarely to Crit DMs, so you're better off pinging me in a thread.
Avg. Response Time: 2 to 5 days, depending on my activity. If I don't respond in that time frame, mention/ping me.

Specialties: Storytelling, tone, entities, & tales.
Willing to Crit: SPaG and tone are things I do well with. I'm open to critiquing any style of page, and I especially love pages with a story, whether embedded into the page or serving as an additional log.
Unwilling to Crit: Pages below 5k bytes and incomplete drafts are a strong no. While I'll avoid doing pages likes Canons, if you explain the canon to me, I will probably take it up.

Additional Information:

If you want me to cover your page, you have to fill out this template.

  1. Summarize your entire page in 1 to 2 sentences.
  2. What do you want me to focus on primarily? (line-by-line, general/idea, tone, etc)
  3. Is there anything you don't want changed? What is it?
  4. Why do you think this should be greenlit? (if applicable)

SherlsF
Availability Status: Yellow

Timezone: Western Indonesia Time
Preferred Contact Method: Message Wall (backrooms.fandom.com only!)
Avg. Response Time: 10 hours to 2 months

Specialties: Everything
Willing to Crit: Everything, though Tales and canon-adjacent pages may take longer.
Unwilling to Crit: Nothing.

Additional Information:
  • My response time is varied since I’m extremely busy in real life; writing and reading is my main thing
  • People tell me I’m overly lax, so my decisions can be overridden by other moderators
  • If you find me difficult to reach, you can ping me on the Discord server

Terraria
Availability Status: green

Timezone: GMT+8 (aka the exact opposite of EST)
Preferred Contact Method: Discord
Avg. Response Time: Varies greatly, but should be anything under 24 hours. Life is getting a bit in the way recently, so expect longer response times especially during the weekdays.

Specialties: CSS visual appearance
Willing to Crit: All types of pages but crits will focus on the page's visuals, not only the writing
Unwilling to Crit: Unfinished Drafts, Ultra Long Pages (>50-60k bytes), SPaG and some English language fallacies.

Additional Information:
  1. Do not expect me to nitpick all details, especially pertaining to how the English language works.
  2. Critiques will be focused on the page's concept, execution, and visuals.
  3. Willing to critique CSS appearance ≠ critiquing the CSS itself. I have very poor coding skills, and my CSS themes are sourced by tweaking values of already existing CSS themes.
  4. I should be informed of any context (e.g. the page plays a major role in your canon which I know nothing about, so please inform of any main points before I critique)
  5. All critiques follow the format of my thoughts on the page summarized in a handful of sentences, a few bullet points if necessary, and a rating from 1-10.
  6. This might be unrelated to this but my general advice to improve your writing skills relative to the wiki is by reading renowned pages of the wiki. Checking Portul's Reading List is recommended, but I may also give a curated set of pages depending on your writing style and the critique I've made.

Critics[]

Astral
Availability Status: Red

Timezone: EST(EDT during Daylight Savings)
Preferred Contact Method: Discord DMs and/or Message Wall
Avg. Response Time: Either a couple hours after seeing the message or maybe a day. Bear with me.

Specialties: I'm good at writing tales and levels, especially themed around Ineterna or space. I like writing pages with themes of inevitability and getting philosophical in tales especially.
Willing to Crit: Levels, Tales, and maybe Entities
Unwilling to Crit: Objects, Groups

Additional Information:

1. If the page has any previous lore I need to know in order to understand it better, let me know! Also let me know if it is going into a canon of yours, or a canon in general.
2. What should I focus on? Concept? SPaG? Just in general?
3. Do you want the critique to be long and comprehensive or short and simple.

Bishop
Availability Status: Yellow
Timezone: UTC+8
Preferred Contact Method: Message Wall
Avg. Response Time: Within 100 hours

Specialties: Concepts, clinical writing & narratives. Also Latin & Shakespearean/archaic English if you happen to need that stuff.
Willing to Crit: Basically everything, however I can't really help you with making wikitext/CSS. I prefer more traditionally liminal pages.
Unwilling to Crit: Really scientific stuff that I probably won't understand (example: Uncharted Territory). Specifically scientific theories (ESOTERIC CATEGORY-003) & conflicts (ESOTERIC CATEGORY-005). Unfinished pages. Heavy gore/NSFW.

Additional Information:
1. Mention anything important I should know before reading, like if it's in a canon, or if there's any background info I should read first (e.g. reading Caius Taggert to understand what Party Greek is about), etc.
2. Tell me what you want me to focus on with the critique, unless you just want it to be a more general coverage (in which case I will just make notes as I read the page).

Additional Information:

1. Please mention anything important I should know before reading (e.g. if it's in a canon, etc.).
2. Tell me what you want me to focus on with the critique.

Gamma

Avg. Response Time: 12-72 hours, dependent on how active I am

Red
Availability Status: Green

Timezone: GMT-3 (3 hours behind GMT)
Preferred Contact Method: Discord
Avg. Response Time: 2h - 5h, though it varies depending on the circumstances

Specialties: writing and visual
Willing to Crit: SPaG, tone, flow, concept, CSS/wikitext... pages with a lore/story/tale/log are interesting to critique, too. My favored type to critique is level.
Unwilling to Crit: Canons, joke pages, extremely short/long pages (<3K bytes or >60K bytes)

Additional Information:

1. I will consider the concept of your page the most, and I will critique the execution based on this. I will point out the major problems I notice within the page, tips on how to improve it, and then rate your page out of 0 to 10.

2. If your page is long, summarize it in a few sentences before I read the content for better understanding.

3. I accept drafts, and I will critique the base concept accordingly.

4. If you want me to be nitpicky on the details, I will. I don't recommend this, though, as the most important thing is the execution of your page.

5. I will critique the visuals of your page, including CSS, wikitext, and visibility, as they influence how the readers read through your page (I will not revise the actual code, though).

6. If your page is part of something bigger (like connections with another page or a lore), share with me the context.

TheDadams
Availability Status: Green
Crits/Reviews Pending: 0

Timezone: Eastern Standard Time (New York)
Preferred Contact Method: Fandom Message Wall
Avg. Response Time: 12-24 hours, depending on the shift I am working that week.

Green: I am available and will respond as soon as possible. - Yellow: I am off work, but I will respond and be back within the week. - Red: I am unavailable for crit, and I likely won't respond until green or yellow.

Specialties: SPaG, flow, and tone, especially clinical or analytical tone. Will go in-depth with crits.
Willing to Crit: Most pages, especially levels, entities, and tales. I will focus on flow, readability, and general appearance.
Unwilling to Crit: If your writing is AI generated at any capacity, do not bother contacting me. I am proficient in wikitext, but I am not an expert, the same goes for CSS. I am also too old to really vibe with most joke pages; sorry. Please do not ask me to rewrite your page; this is a critique, not a writing service. Thank you.

Additional Information:
In your request, please have the following information present:

1. A short summary of what the page is. This should only be a few sentences.
2. A link to a sandbox.
3. What was your inspiration for this page? (Again, this does not need to be long.)
4. What do you want your audience to feel?
5. What are you looking for in this crit? (How much do you want me to go in depth?)

Attention! I communicate very plainly in my crits, and I make notes as I read the page. I have no intentions of being harsh or mean in what I type. If you are getting these feelings while reading my critiques, know that it is not my intention to convey such negative feelings.

VerySpecific

Additional Information:

1. I don't really wanna crit canon stuff, but if it looks hella interesting I will.
2. Please dont come to me if you KNOW your page is riddled with SPaG errors I can't stand reading them lol 3. If you're coming to me to crit a format screw, I will be extra critical and WILL nitpick any small errors I find. I like my format screws perfect thank you very much.

Becoming A Critic[]

The two major factors of becoming a critic is being an "established author" and having critiquing experience. You can have one, both, but you cannot have neither. If we consider you an established author, it means you have 5 solo pages spread across the various categories. Critic experience is self-explanatory, you provide screenshots to prove you've given good critiques in the past, even without the role. If you want to be a critic, you must reach out to PortulTrademark when he is looking for applicants with evidence that you are good with a variety of writing and/or good with critiquing pages. Announcements will be posted in the discussion forums for when the crit team is looking for more applicants.

If you are unsure if we are looking for critics, you are free to ask PortulTrademark.
