For the official level format, please refer to this page: Standard Level Format.
First Tip
If possible, create a level with the regular numbers. A lot of the lower levels still need to be made (just to complete the lower sections; no one is prohibiting you from creating levels numbered 1000 and higher, it's just a personal recommendation).
Second Tip
Know what type of text to use. On the top left corner, you can see a clickable button with a lot of options of texts to write. It is recommended to:
- Paragraph — Use for writing normal texts, just like this one.
- Heading — Use for separating major subjects (e.g., survival difficulty, description, colonies and outposts, entities, how to enter and exit).
- Sub-heading 1 — Use for separating minor subjects (e.g., different colonies, important informations, do's and don'ts, sub-rooms, logs, etc.).
- Sub heading 2, 3 and 4 — Other smaller separations.
- Preformatted and Block Quote — These two are optional, not really needed to make levels.
- Page title — Similar to heading, but also optional.
There are also other options, a bit to the right. They are:
- Bold — You can use to highlight important phrases or keywords on the text. example
- Italic — You can use this one to highlight quotes, conversations, stories or foreign words. example
- Underline — Optional. Can use to define something. example
Now, the ones under the T section:
- Computer code — To format technical terms in-line with other text.
example - Strikethrough — Indicate the thoughts of the writer or a text that is mistaken and needs to be removed.
example - Superscript — Use this to type something above the normal line of text. example 2nd
- Subscript — This one can be used to type something below the normal line of text. example H2
- Big — Use to make your text bigger than normal. example
- Small — This one is to make your text smaller than normal. example
- Language — Used to translate a text in another language. exemplo > example
You can combine the variations of text above.
Third Tip
Use correct grammar and punctuation. I know that I'm not the best person to talk about this, since English isn't my first language, but I know my text shouldn't be like this: "level 253 is' the 254fourht level of the bakrooms." If you have problems with grammar, I suggest using Grammarly to help you (No, I'm not being paid, although I wanted to).
Fourth Tip
Do your levels with a consistent order. I tend to use: Small description with no heading > Backstory (optional) > Survival Difficulty > Description with heading > Colonies and Outposts > Entities > Entering and Exiting the level.
Fifth Tip
See how your favorite levels are written. An example of my favorite levels are Level 11, Level 9223372036854775807, Level ∞ and Level 375. Also, don't copy levels of the other wikis, develop your own style while writing. Also, use one of these Survival Difficulties to classify your level: Survival Difficulty Guide.
Sixth Tip
Link other levels to your levels if necessary, generally in the exits/entrances heading. Also, know where to put your images, make it next to the text referring to the image.
Seventh Tip
Use synonyms to have coherence in your text. Other thing is think about what are you going to write before creating the level. If you don't do that, you level will only have "I don't know what to write now, so this page is free", and will probably be deleted before being written.
Now, after you know all the main tips to do a good level, let's do one.
Note: The level below isn't supposed to be a real level.
Level Example
Level # is the [#+1][#Suffix] level of the Backrooms.
- (Example: Level 0 is the 1st level of the Backrooms.)
Description
Level Example consists of the example of making a level. One can find moderate amounts of Almond Water here, amongst other various amenities. Overall, this level is very boring, only serving as an example to new members of the Backrooms Fandom Wiki. (Definitely insert more information than this!)
Colonies and Outposts
The Example Group
- The Example Group has [example] members.
- They are very [aggressive/friendly], and [are/aren't] open for trades.
- Their goal on this level is [example].
- (Insert anything extra if you want to.)
Entities
There are no confirmed entities on this level. (Insert the entities that appear on your level, if there is any.)
Entrances and Exits
Entrances
One can enter Level Example by [insert a way to enter your level here] (preferably write more than one entrance).
Exits
One can exit Level Example by [insert a way to exit your level here] (preferably write more than one exit).
