Description
Carbon masks are only made by crafting with metal, cardboard, paper, and Almond Water. It is made through a number of steps that follow a strict bellow. The mask itself gives off properties unknown to one another, as its main use is to control carbon dioxide around wanderers. There are some theories as to how this mask works, which has to do with Almond Water, used in the process of manufacturing the mask. The Almond Water mixes in with the cardboard, creating an air vent. This air vent filters out any unnecessary, or extra material, and stores it within the cardboard. Once one breathes out, the extra material will then get reused as carbon dioxide.
The paper used in the mask is used for collecting dust and releasing it into the atmosphere. It fuses into the cardboard from the Almond Water, allowing the paper to gain its properties we see today. The area around the paper is incased in the cardboard, while collecting dust. If the step by step crafting method is done correctly, this should be the case. The paper and the cardboard give off a soft texture, and has the ability to give off the smell of flowers. The metal is presumably cast iron, with the bridal touch. When wearing the mask, be careful not to break it. This can include falling, hitting a wall, getting attacked by entities, etc.
Identifying Carbon Masks:
Since the item is only craftable, the only way to identify the object is looking for paper and cardboard in the interior. To tell if the mask is a working one or not, you have to look at the main interior of it. If no cardboard is covering some of the paper, it is a stud. If the metal has any signs of rust of the exterior, it is a stud. If the cardboard doesn't feel wet, it is a stud. If the paper rips, it is a stud. If the screen glass is broken or cracked, it is a stud. If the metal has any cracks visible, it is a stud. Make sure you are looking for these flaws so pick out the right mask for the right job.
Creation Steps
Step 1
Find some almond water if you didn't get any in Sector 2.
Step 2
Grab some cardboard and paper for the interior of the mask.
Step 3
Find scrap metal suitable for the exterior of the mask. It should be unrusted, fresh, and looking new.
Sub Step 3
Get some screen glass found on the electronics in the tunnel.
Step 4
Carve the metal on the dead bodies found in the piles of metal there is.
Step 5
Cut out the eye sockets and put the screen glass in.
Step 6
Carefully place the cardboard in the interior of the mask and gently poor almond water on it.
Step 7
Place the paper overtop of the soaked cardboard.
Step 8
Find string and wrap it around the metal. Once the string meets with the other side of the metal, tie it in a knot.
Step 9
Put it on to see if it fits. If it doesn't, redo step 8.
Once finished, the mask will operate as described before, however, it doesn't provide the necessary properties to protect yourself from entities. The mask is very bridal, meaning it can break easily. The entities in Sector 4 of the level will not go for the head, and are smart enough to go low, and attack the wanderers waist span. These masks are mass produced in Level -102, and shipped to the entrance of Level -4 from multiple negative levels, in numerical order, to Sector 1 of the level.
Uses
The primary use for the mask is to, as mentioned before, control the carbon dioxide around wanderers. It helps for breathing and filters any type of dirty air into the clean and fresh type in other levels. In specifically Level -4, the mask and other pieces of it will work as so. It is unknown why the mask works differently in other levels, but people say it has to do with the Almond Water (again). The air vent in any other level becomes a carbon vent, filtering out any carbon dioxide and turning it into oxygen. The papers' job is completely different when not in Level -4, as it acts like an air freshener. Any air you intake from the mask suggests a scent of flowers. It also deems itself a calming sent, which increases sanity. The mask is useful for any levels that drain sanity at an increased rate due to the Almond Water particles specifically.
