A Sheet of Carpet Moss in a Lab, outside of their natural habitat.
Description
Carpet-Moss is a Special and Carnivorous Type of Moss exclusive to The Backrooms.
Carpet-Moss is a Carnivorous Moss, that appears to be also partially a Fungus, that can be found hidden on and in the Carpets of Level 0 and other Levels with Carpets. They can camoflauge themselves to look like the Carpets they infest, and lurk in them, waiting for their pray. When they are not attached to any Carpets they look like average Frontroom Moss. They are also used as nests by many smaller Backroom Entities, who gather the Moss and pile it to put their babies in. It is believed that this was the first Entity to have ever been discovered, as the papers that this File is based on goes back centuries.
Behaviors
Carpet-Moss is usually passive, and just lurk somewhere in the infested carpets until somebody or something steps on/in them.
Carpet-Moss is very sticky, and they use this to catch their prey. First, they ooze a sticky slime from them, and that constantly. Then they wait there in the Carpet until something or somebody steps on them. Then the Slime sticks their prey to them, and the prey gets pulled down through/under(?) the Carpet, and as they get pulled down the prey slowly gets digested by the Moss using a Grey-Green Slime, which helps the Moss with the digestion process. Then the bones of the victim stay above the moss, and they get slowly overun with it. Then after 3 months the skeleton will also have been fully digested. They can also spread in the Victim, as they get can also spread by air, hence them being part Fungus.
One should avoid any Areas in the Carpet of Level 0 that look or seem sticky.
Biology
Carpet-Moss is a Fungus-like Moss that can camoflage into the colour of the Carpet it is on.
Carpet-Moss is usually dormant except if something steps on it, but it has been known to crawl around the floor on small tendrils during the night.
Discovery
The Pages based on this File say that Carpet-Moss was originally discovered in the year 367 before christ, meaning it is likely the first entity to have ever been discovered.
