Description:

Chatrooms are malicious entities that are found on computers, cellphones, televisions, etc. Chatrooms can be found on any device that connects to Wi-Fi and can be very dangerous if not removed properly. Chatrooms appear to be a social media platform created by an unknown source. Chatrooms can take the appearance of any texting or messaging applications on any device no matter the age.

Chatrooms can jump from device to device. They also seem to communicate with other instances and share information on levels and wanderers. Chatrooms can delete applications and files from devices but use stealth during this. Because of this, it can be very hard to find the application and sometimes even days or weeks. Chatrooms have also changed files and applications to be more malicious.

Chatrooms communicate with wanderers either by disguising themselves as people on the wanderer's contact list or can create a new user. The Chatrooms usually try to provoke the wanderer or even threaten the wanderer. It's best to keep an eye on every application for suspicious activity and report mysterious and suspicious files.

Versions of Chatrooms:

  • Stealth Chatrooms - This version will not attempt to interact with the wanderer but change or delete files on the wanderer's device. In rare cases, the application will use the wanderer's microphone or webcam and set the information to the "Chat Net" where Chatrooms can read and use information against wanderers.
  • Social Chatrooms - This version will interact with the wanderer and attempt to gain information or provoke wanderers by messaging a wanderer. These Chatrooms will also gather information and change or delete files.
  • Callrooms - This version will attempt to communicate using a wanderer's microphone or cellular phone as a way of communication. Never answer a caller ID named "Callrooms", "Chatrooms" or "BackChat" these will always be backdoors into letting the application onto your device.

Removing the application:

It's best to search for an application known as "Chatrooms" on your device frequently. This method will not work 100% of the time as in some cases Chatrooms disguise as files on the user's device. Simply delete files that are named "Chatrooms" or suspicious files on your device. Avoid any mysterious calls known as the names listed in "Versions of Chatrooms" as this is always a backdoor to let the application enter your device.

Behavior:

Chatrooms will always try to seek electronic devices in the Backrooms especially devices used by wanderers. Once Chatrooms find a viable host they will then delete or edit files and communicate with the wanderer in a sadistic manner. The application can replicate itself and jump from device to device when a device is in the vicinity of a host.

Discovery:

A wanderer known as "Jakson Mijokob" answered a suspicious call in Level 36. Seven days later he received an e-mail from "Chatrooms Tech Corporation" saying "The M.E.G can fix it." The wanderer reached Base Alpha and the application was then documented.
