Deathbugs are extremely large and hostile insect-like creatures which hunt by tearing off the limbs of their prey.
Description
A drawing of a deathbug.
Deathbugs are among the largest entities in the backrooms, measuring 4.2 meters in height. Deathbugs are "potato-shaped and colored" in appearance and have tendrils on their backs and their "mouths". Their eyes are set to the front of their body, and they can have anywhere between 8 and 36 eyes. Death bugs lack any orifices and are in fact entirely devoid of a digestive system, but instead seem to gain nutrients and proteins by absorbing them through their skin and tendrils.
Unlike insects of the Frontrooms, they have 4 legs instead of 6, and have a flesh-like exterior as opposed to traditional exoskeletons. Due to the fleshy nature of their skin, they are also highly sensitive to light sources above 15 lumens. If exposed to light levels above this, their skin will be observed bubbling and melting away. Due to this, Deathbugs will only inhabit dimly lit levels, and burrow themselves in the ground when exposed to bright light sources.
Behavior
Despite their size and appearance, they can run extremely fast, with speeds topping at 31 mph, it is almost impossible to outrun them without the use of a certain vehicle. They also like to lurk in darker levels, examples are: level 9, level 6, level 19, Level 0 (Level 0 is very rare because every room size is quite small in comparison to other Levels). When encountered in outdoor levels, these entities have been found borrowed into the ground, with only their back tendrils visible, which will cause them to resemble strange tentacle forests, and are sometimes mistaken as a separate entity entirely.
Deathbugs like to live alone, as they will kill other Deathbugs they encounter. Deathbugs are considered highly aggressive, as they will kill their prey by using their tentacle like appendages to tear the limbs off wanderers or other entities they encounter. Stranger still is that Deathbugs will then attach these limbs onto themselves through a strange form of grafting. After a period of 3 hours, these attached limbs will transform to become identical to the rest of the Deathbugs tendrils, and will regain movement under the control of the Deathbug as additional limbs. If a wanderer somehow survives having their limb torn off, they will report that they will still be able to feel it despite it now being attached to the Deathbugs body, and they will have the ability to sense the location of the Deathbug that took their limb.
It has been discovered that it is possible to reattach this limb if you manage to kill a Deathbug and take it back. A wanderer who managed to do this has reported that their newly attached limb returned to it's former arm shape, but now also had enhanced regenerative abilities, such that it could heal from nearly any injury as long as it remained attached to their body.
Discovery
Deathbugs were discovered very recently in 2013, A group of M.E.G. members were exploring level 6 when they encountered a death bug who killed 4 out of 5 of them.
There also another report of sighting a Deathbug at an unknown point in 2022, on Level 9 a wanderer was traveling in the level near the road, she says she saw a large monster with 4 legs and eyes, and she saw a kind of Potato Monster fighting each other, The result is Eye Monster Win, After that She manage to escape from Level 9 to Level 11, Util this day She still alive, The M.E.G. has logged this discovery as "Eye Agains Potato"
*Note from Operative, Funny Log right?, "Eye Agains Potato" =)*
