Desperate Whispers is a warren of hallways, similar to those you might find in an office building. It appears abandoned, with vines, thorns, and other foliage grow through the floors and walls, winding around objects and tearing up wallpapers and carpeting. Additionally, the carpets and wallpapers are more of a greyscale. There is also a dense fog in an equally grey color. This makes it difficult to see more the 5 yards or so around you, according to eyewitnesses.
A feeling of being watched has been reported here. Physical symptoms of this have been observed, primarily a tingling sensation at the back of the neck and head. Voices are often heard when wandering; whispers, asking for help, emanate from the walls. It has been claimed that the whispers grow louder and more insistent the closer you are to an exit, sometimes reported as an unbearable screaming. This has been confirmed through many accounts, but some remain skeptical.
Several Wanderers have said forgetting their purpose, one saying, "I forgot what I was there for. I began to feel as if it was my job to rescue the people asking for help. I still feel an urge to return there." This quote was taken approximately two weeks after the Wanderer had been in Desperate Whispers.
There have been reported sightings of various entities, but none of these are confirmed.
Entrances and Exits
Entrances
It is speculated that most levels have an entrance to this level. Many have claimed that you can tell if a door is an entrance by placing a colored object on the threshold of the doorframe. If the object turns greyscale, the door is likely an entrance to Desperate Whispers. Be warned: This change is reportedly permanent.
Exits
Exits are rather common. Nearly any door could be an exit. These exits typically lead to one of the first three levels of the Backrooms. (Level 0, Level 1, and Level 2) The most difficult part of leaving is summoning the willpower to leave, according to many survivors.
