> Overview

Entity 120, A.K.A Leadheads are dangerous entities that manifest themselves as large Bose-Einstein condensates. Leadheads are usually found inside toilet water but are sometimes inside sinks, water taps, and flowing through pipes. As of late, there is no documented case of Leadheads appearing in other water fixtures.

Leadheads are commonly found in places with steady supply of water and complex piping systems. They are predominantly found in outdoor levels that contain residential structures, such as Level 9, but have also been reported in other levels with similar conditions. The primary indicator of their presence is the loud zooming sound they make while traveling through pipes.

Leadheads, as mentioned previously is a large Bose-Einstein condensate, a state of matter where individual particles behave as a single entity that normally occurs at temperatures near absolute zero, although it is thought that its large amount of mass generates its own gravitational pull, which is strong enough to maintain its condensed state outside the extreme cold required for a Bose-Einstein Condensate.

In their BEC form, which will be referred to by Entity 120-A, Leadheads appear as dense, fleshy cubes roughly 4 inches long on each side, though their mass is disproportionately large, ranging between 243 and 312 kilograms. This immense mass within such a compact form suggests an extremely dense molecular structure that far exceeds than that of most known materials. It's namesake derives from its sheer density.

The exterior of these cubes is composed of a tough, white muscle tissue that is highly resistant to damage. The tissue’s resilience has been tested against various forms of conventional weaponry, all of which failed to penetrate or even significantly damage a Leadhead’s exterior. The only known method to effectively breach this defense involves the use of an explosive force equivalent to two Firesalt crystals, which disrupts the balance maintaining the BEC state.

The most critical vulnerability of a Leadhead lies in the connection between Entity 120-A and Entity 120-B. If this connection is severed by an outside force, the Leadhead will die quickly, as the separation from its vital organs in Entity 120-A is fatal. Furthermore, Leadheads are highly dependent on water for their survival. If a Leadhead is forced out of its watery environment for an extended period, it will begin to shrivel up and eventually die.

When a Leadhead transitions from its condensed state (Entity 120-A) to its active form (Entity 120-B), the cube-like structure unfolds, revealing a tall, humanoid figure tethered to the cube by a single leg-like appendage. Entity 120-B is characterized by its pale, tau-shaped body, which is stark white, devoid of any discernible facial features or organs, and is headless. The arms of Entity 120-B are long and slender, ending in stumps from which approximately 18 blade-like fingers extend at a 330° angle. These sharp, claw-like fingers capable of inflicting life threatening injuries.

Entity 120-A and Entity 120-B share the ability to stretch, rotate, and contort themselves when met with the often narrow and intricate piping systems they inhabit.

> Behavior
[]

In their dormant state, Leadheads navigate the labyrinthine pipe systems of the levels they inhabit, moving at incredible speeds through liquid-filled conduits. Their movement produces a loud zooming sound, which is caused by the rapid displacement of water as they travel through the pipes. This sound often serves as the only warning of a Leadhead's presence, as the entity is otherwise nearly undetectable until it strikes.

When a Leadhead senses the light emitted from the exit of a water fixture, it positions itself near the opening, waiting patiently for potential prey. Leadheads rely heavily on vibrations to detect the presence of other entities or people. When they sense the vibrations caused by footsteps or other movements, Entity 120-B launches itself out of the water fixture at tremendous speed, attacking whatever is in front of it with its razor-sharp fingers. Once its prey is killed, the Leadhead grips onto its body, forcefully drags, and squashes the corpse back into the pipes to "devour" it by adding the corpse's mass onto its own.

Their reliance on vibration to detect prey can be exploited. By creating false alarms, such as stomping on the ground near a water fixture, wanderers can trick a Leadhead into prematurely revealing itself. Once exposed, Entity 120-B becomes vulnerable, especially if it fails to connect with its initial attack, which is the only opportunity to escape a Leadhead encounter. After a failed attack, a Leadhead enters a fatigued state, during which its speed and power are significantly diminished. This recovery period lasts for about an hour, during which time the Leadhead retreats into the pipes to relocate and recuperate.

Leadheads constantly move and actively search throughout the complex piping systems they inhabit. As a result, some entities have learned to avoid water fixtures altogether, knowing that a leadhead could be lurking therein.

> Dos and Don'ts
[]

Do[]

  • Exercise caution near taps, sinks, and toilets.
  • Listen for loud buzzing sounds when approaching a water fixture.
  • Try to bait out a Leadhead by making a quick stomp on the floor near a water fixture.

Don't[]

  • Approach a water fixture without taking necessary precautions.
  • Step too strongly to avoid creating excessive vibrations.

> Discovery
[]

The first documented encounter with a Leadhead was in Route 66, sometime on June of 2032, when an unnamed wanderer got near a sink in one of the Motels when a Leadhead slashed at his face, "killing" the wanderer and transporting him to Level 154. The wanderer retained all of his memories of the encounter and reported the newly discovered entity to L.U.C.A (now known as N.A.X.O.S) Base Khan which prompted its addition to the database. Documented encounters with Leadheads have now increased due to the higher human population, the vast expansion of organized groups, and more advanced documentation methods in the Backrooms.
