Entity 19

Gemini lunares

I ⟨ Overview ⟩ I
[]

Entity 19, commonly referred to as "Gemini Lunares," is an anomalous and rare, cat-like entity within the Backrooms. Despite its harmless appearance, the entity has cognitohazardous powers, which are particularly linked to its ocular features. Due to its elusive nature and lethality, most of the entity’s attributes are still speculative or are derived from incomplete field data.

Gemini Lunares is a four-legged entity visually indistinguishable from a common Felis catus of the tabby breed. However, its physical similarity to a cat belies its dangerous and powerful nature. The entity exhibits a variable danger, which is dependent entirely on interaction. A blue flame-like aura frequently surrounds the entity. This phenomenon appears to have a psychological effect on individuals in close proximity. Interestingly, Gemini Lunares exhibits no discomfort from this aura, and it appears to do nothing in its physical locomotion or direct attacks.

Its fur is coated in a fire-like chemical, named as "Lunarian" While it does not burn, proximity to the substance causes disorientation, emotional instability, and in rare cases, hallucinations. This chemical effect appears to deactivate briefly each year between June 15th and 21st, although the reason is unknown. The entity can also reactivate it at will, which makes it a consistent threat.

II ⟨ Behaviour ⟩ II
[]

The main abilities of Gemini Lunares are primarily related its ocular features, which have profound cognitohazardous effects. Visual contact with the entity’s eyes[1] has been conclusively linked to both lethal and psychologically compromising outcomes. Rude individuals who view the entity's eyes usually suffer immediate neurological collapse, while other normal individuals enter a state of apparent subjugation, and exhibit behaviors that strongly hint mental control or parasitic influence by the entity itself. These effects are indiscriminate, occur even when images have been altered or distorted, which also hint that the memetic payload within the visual patterns of its eyes are beyond conventional perception filters.

Gemini Lunares exhibits behaviors that suggest sapient intelligence. It communicates by inducing auditory hallucinations or directly projecting thoughts into the minds of individuals affected by eye contact. Furthermore, the entity hints an antagonistic disposition toward organized research efforts, and usually sabotages or causes harm to investigation groups rather than initiating communication.

When threatened or observed, it has demonstrated the ability to dematerialize into fragmented, and pixel-like lines which somewhat resemble digital distortion. This form of teleportation allows it to vanish from sight almost instantaneously, with no traces left behind. Its movements defy all known physical laws, which suggests that it operates on a separate or overlapping dimensional framework.

III ⟨ Biology ⟩ III
[]

Gemini Lunares aligns with Felis catus standards: quadrupedal locomotion, retractable claws, and tabby-patterned fur. However, microscopic examination of shed fur samples shows that they are composed of a synthetic, and non-terrestrial filament that somewhat resemble fused glass and organic matter.

The entity demonstrates immunity to environmental hazards of unstable levels and appears unaffected by heat, radiation, and chemical exposure. Attempts to capture or sedate the entity have universally failed, either due to its evasiveness or incapacitating effects on handling personnel.

IV ⟨ Discovery ⟩ IV
[]

The first documented encounter of Gemini Lunares was on April 21, 2008, when an image was inexplicably uploaded to the M.E.G. database. This image was discovered to have memetic hazards: induced vertigo, paranoia, and hallucinations in viewers, as well as the coordinates and the name of a previously unrecorded sub-level within. This image led to an investigation party by the E.S.I.S.P.

Using the coordinates extracted from the image, a provisional research outpost known as "Camp Lunaris" was established. Exploration teams discovered a hallway within Level 11 that matched the environment in the image. Within this space, the body of a man was found dead. Strangely, no external trauma or cause of death could be identified, which suggested an internal or memetic cause; consistent with known traits of Gemini Lunares.

Subsequent sightings and interactions resulted in a major incident which also involved a group known as The Traveling Group (T.T.G.), who unintentionally encountered the entity. Unaware of its cognitohazardous abilities, they attempted to neutralize it. This resulted in the deaths of twelve members and the effective dissolution of the group.

In the aftermath, interest in the entity became stronger within organizations, particularly the Brutus Experimentation Organization, which initiated classified projects focused on containing or studying Gemini Lunares. These efforts, however, have proven unsuccessful due to the entity’s apparent intelligence, unpredictability, and teleportation capabilities.

Recovered Incident Log
[]

It began with a boy, who was no older than fifteen. While he wandered Level 11 with nothing but a rusted flashlight and an old map given by M.E.G. His name was Ken. He had been separated from his group three days earlier and had survived on vending machine snacks and puddled Almond Water. He had learned to stay quiet, to avoid the flickering corridors, and to never trust voices in the dark. But when it approached, it did not whisper; instead, it purred.

A soft sound, delicate and familiar. A small tabby cat, blue flame flowing gently from its fur, stepped out from behind a vending machine. It blinked slowly, tilted its head, and meowed.

Ken knelt down, “You’re just a kitty, huh? Just a little guy.”
The entity rubbed its head against his hand. It let him pet it. He smiled like never before.

It did not speak to him in words. Not yet. But as he stared into its eyes, something inside him felt changed. His thoughts became foggy, and his fear dissolved. The cat began walking. Then, Ken followed.

Over the course of an hour, a passing M.E.G. drone which was monitoring Camp Lunaris detected unusual behavior patterns on its long-range thermal scans. The boy’s body temperature was dropping dangerously, despite no contact with cold. His walking appearance was strange. His eyes appeared unfocused. He was murmuring to himself:
"He’s so nice. He’s my friend. He’s warm."

The footage, reviewed later, showed the boy entering a dark alley, that strangely did not match any mapped structure. The cat stood at the end of the alley: waiting.

The camera blurred slightly by an unknown interference, as the creature turned to face Ken. That’s when the change began.
Gemini Lunares, in full view, began to show its true form.

Its neck swelled upward, grotesque and distended, a swelling sac of skin and blue-lit veins that pulsed like living jelly. The sound on the camera, normally mute, spiked into low, and guttural groans, then silence. Its mouth split downward, far past feline anatomy, an obscene rift that tore down to the creature’s underbelly, lined with rows of glistening, and uneven fangs. Its two eyes, once slits of curiosity, distended and fractured, which formed into rotating, and jagged spirals of light and liquid distortion. The rest of its body, however, was completely intact: the tail was fine, the tabby stripes still shimmered.

Ken, fully subjugated, and simply said:
"You are the moon. I will be your eclipse."

He stepped forward, willingly.

Gemini Lunares, Lux Mortalis, opened its maw and devoured the boy whole in a single motion. No blood. No scream. Just the faint sound of a heartbeat increasing, then stopped.

But is made a mistake.

What Gemini Lunares did not sense, what it did not see, was the M.E.G. drone still spying above the alley, hiding behind a rusty ceiling vent. It caught everything.

In later playback, a brief distortion took over across the footage after Ken was consumed. A ripple; less of the creature and more of… hesitation. The entity paused. Its eyes darted. It disappeared in its pixelated burst.

Since that day, no one has seen the entity's Lux Mortalis form again.

Camp Lunaris was abandoned. But in the darkness of Level 11, the blue flame still lingers.

And sometimes, you may hear a boy whisper:
"He’s just a kitty. Just a little guy."
