Description[]

An unclear sketch of a young male Needlelimb.

Needlelimb sketch

The Needlelimb is a tall, black, bony figure that has only two limbs: one arm and one leg. It does not have a foot, but instead the Needlelimb floats and has five long, thin fingers, that resemble needles attached to its arm. Its head is large, long, and slim, and it is faceless. Some of them have small spikes on their back, some don't. Its body is built crooked and the texture of its skin is moist. It gives off the smell of rotten bodies. Needlelimbs feed on people's consciousness or souls through their fingers and leave the bodies in a pile. These entities are very rare and are almost extinct. The most frequent places for Needlelimbs are on Level 1 and Level 0.8.

Behaviors[]

Needlelimbs cannot see but can hear every step you make. To identify their environment, they use their echolocation abilities, which help them identify objects in their surroundings through their sounds. They have a big appetite and will always search for food. If they hear you, they will quickly float towards you. Once their needles have penetrated your skull, there's probably no going back. Needlelimbs seem to be able to sense when someone is afraid or anxious, and may be more likely to target these individuals.

To lure prey, Needlelimbs tend to use voice mimicry to lure their prey into a false sense of security. For example, they may mimic the voice of a lost friend or loved one to get their prey to come closer to their feeding territory. Needlelimbs are very quiet and can move almost silently. They may use this to sneak up on their prey or to hide and wait for their prey to come to them.

People have tried taking pictures of Needlelimbs. However, no one has ever captured one on tape. It seems that Needlelimbs are invisible to cameras and mirrors. Instead, some people made sketches of them to warn others.

Biology[]

Young Needlelimbs[]

As babies, Needlelimbs tend to be more aggressive and playful, exhibiting behaviors that are both cute and occasionally terrifying. They are as tall as an average human being, but they are louder and more vocal than adult Needlelimbs. This is because they are still in the process of developing their vocal cords, which allows them to make a wide range of sounds, from adorable coos to hair-raising screams.

One of the interesting features of young Needlelimbs is that they are more likely to bump into objects in their environment. This is because they have not yet fully developed their echolocation abilities, which help them identify objects in their surroundings. As a result, they rely more on touch and instinct to navigate their environment, which can sometimes lead to accidents.

As Needlelimbs mature, they continue to develop their echolocation abilities, which allow them to navigate their environment with greater precision. Their vocal cords also continue to develop, giving them a wider range of sounds to use for communication and warning signals. They also become more cautious and strategic in their behavior, as they learn to avoid potential dangers in their environment.

Male Needlelimbs[]

Male Needlelimbs can be identified by their distinctive spikes on their back. Unlike their female counterparts, male Needlelimbs tend to be smaller in size, but their spikes are essential to their survival. These spikes vary in size and strength, with some being particularly large and robust, while others are relatively smaller.

One of the primary purposes of these spikes is to serve as weapons. Male Needlelimbs use their spikes to protect themselves from potential predators, such as birds or other animals that might try to prey on them. These spikes can inflict a painful wound, and they are effective at deterring predators.

In addition to defending themselves, male Needlelimbs also use their spikes to protect the young and female Needlelimbs. They are devoted fathers who take on the primary responsibility of raising their offspring. The male Needlelimbs will fiercely guard the young, keeping them safe from harm and ensuring they have enough food and resources to grow strong.

It's interesting to note that female Needlelimbs do not need a male to fertilize their eggs. Instead, they are capable of reproducing asexually, which means that they can produce offspring without the need for a male partner. However, male Needlelimbs still play an essential role in the species' survival, as they are crucial for raising and protecting the young.

Female Needlelimbs[]

The Female Needlelimb has a unique biology that sets it apart from other species. They can be recognized by their lack of spikes on their back and their height. They can be 8ft tall. These Females are one of the only ones that are capable of reproducing and they require the consciousness or souls of their prey to lay their eggs.

The process of laying eggs is a complex one that starts with the Needlelimb finding its prey. Once it has captured its victim, the Needlelimb uses its needle-like fingers to extract the consciousness or soul from the prey's body. This process is quick and efficient, allowing the Needlelimb to capture and extract the necessary components it needs to reproduce.

Once the Needlelimb has obtained the consciousness or soul it needs, it will seek out a suitable location to lay its eggs. Females lay their eggs in piles of dead quarries, which provides warmth and protection for the developing embryos. The eggs are typically laid each year with 1 to 3 eggs at once.

While the eggs are developing, the Female Needlelimb will continue to hunt for food, using its sharp fingers to capture and extract the consciousness or souls from its prey. Once the eggs have hatched, the young Needlelimbs will emerge and begin their hunt for food.

The Needlelimb's unique biology and reproductive strategy have evolved to ensure the survival of the species. By requiring the consciousness or soul of their prey, Female Needlelimbs can ensure that their young have a steady supply of nutrients and energy to fuel their growth and development.

Discovery[]

Sightings of these entities have been reported for over ten years before the creation of the M.E.G, which makes them one of the most enduring entities in the Backrooms. The number of Needlelimbs has decreased sharply throughout the years. They haven't been getting enough food in levels, where wanderers rarely enter or no-clip in.

The first reported sighting of a Needlelimb occurred in a remote location. It is unknown how the entity got there or if it was intentionally created. Some speculate that the Needlelimbs were created as a failed experiment by a rogue scientist or corporation.

Survival Guide[]

  • Avoid being in the same room as the Needlelimb. If you are, stand still, be quiet, and wait until the Needlelimb has left the room.
  • Distract the Needlelimbs by throwing objects in a different direction, when you have been heard.
  • Use caution when exploring areas where Needlelimbs are known to be present. If possible, try to travel in groups or with someone who has experience navigating the Backrooms.
  • Be mindful of the sounds you make while exploring. Loud noises or sudden movements could attract the attention of a Needlelimb, increasing the likelihood of an encounter.
  • Carry a weapon or tool that can be used to defend yourself in case of an attack. Some possible options include a flashlight, a knife, or a blunt object like a pipe or bat.
  • If you do find yourself face-to-face with a Needlelimb, try to remain calm and back away slowly. Do not run or make sudden movements that could provoke the entity.
  • If you managed to release from the Needlelimb's needles, seek medical attention immediately. The effects of the entity's psychic attack can be debilitating and may require professional treatment.
