“You don't understand, these are not just wild animals, they're monsters! If you look into their eyes, they will show you every single way they have thought about killing you! They will scar your mind without even touching you, and when they finally do reach you, they will choose to kill you in the way you least expected, and feared the most...”

Mitch the Wanderer

Ravager Apes are a species of excessively cruel and violent Hominidae, with their physical makeup similar to traditional depictions of Sasquatch (Frontooms Myth). They are infamous for their gargantuan proportions and savage rule over jungle levels, as well as their invasive behaviors regarding traversing through the Backrooms.

Description[]

Ravager Apes can grow upwards of 4 meters tall and weigh up to 500 kilograms. Ravager Apes are largely coated in black fur and have similar body proportions to an orangutan. Some have described the black fur of the entity to be rough sharp to the touch, many comparing it to the feeling of steel wool. Additionally, their skin has been stated to feel like fine sandpaper, brittle but not fully rigid.

Their face is quite different from that of other apes however, and bear an uncanny resemblance to human faces, as they tend to have some form of facial hair and downward pointing noses. Ravager Apes are strictly carnivorous and have a taste for human flesh especially. Whenever a Ravager Ape picks up the scent of a human, it will emit a howl strong enough to damage human eardrums in proximity.

This wild shriek will summon other Ravager Apes to its location, so that they may work together to track down where the scent is coming from. When they finally find the human, Ravager Apes will reveal a series of dagger-like teeth which they will use to tear pieces of flesh from the human's body and eat it right in front of their prey.

Ravager Fur[]

The fur of Ravager Apes has been described as being remarkably sharp and abrasive and is commonly compared to the texture of steel wool. If one were to attempt to grab hold of a Ravager Ape with their bare hands, they would be quick to receive several small cuts that have been reported to be significantly painful despite their small size. Contracting Jungle Fever is also a likely consequence of coming in physical contact with a Ravager Ape. This disease will cause a person's intellect to be reduced to that of a wild animal, and give them the ability to project violent thoughts into the minds of others like that of Ravager Apes, though this ability will fail to work on the Apes themselves.

Ravaging Gaze[]

Another remarkable feature of Ravager Apes is their large, almost insect-like eyes, which they will use to eerily gaze at their environment and spot anything moving within in the trees. These eyes can see in the dark. However, they are not merely for observing their surroundings. In reality, these eyes can project disturbing mental images into the minds of those who make eye contact with them. These mental images are believed to be intended as a form of shock attack, which will assault the senses of whoever looks into the eyes of these entities. These visions will be violent and typically consist of the many ways the Ravager Ape is thinking about killing the entity they're looking at.

Behavior[]

Ravager Apes live in family groups much like actual apes and there are multiple separate clans of Ravager Apes found throughout Levels. Ravager Ape clans have been known to engage in violent confrontations and thus, opposing clans tend to not interact with each other. Usually, a single alpha ape will lead other Ravanger Apes through strength and brutality, but also creativity. Among these entities, it is the ape who is the most creative in their cruelty and not simply the largest that comes to rule the tribe. Due to this, apes spend a lot of time thinking about how they can hurt others and creating vivid and violent scenarios in their minds which they will transmit to anyone who makes eye contact with them,

Ravager Apes are extremely efficient at ambushing prey despite their large size, as they can move swiftly through the trees without making much of a sound at all. Ravager Apes possess immense levels of strength, durability, and speed significantly above that of an average gorilla, and are terrifyingly intelligent. They possess a memory span on par with that of an elephant and can work together to hunt in packs and prevent any prey from escaping their grasp. Typically, Ravager Apes will feed on common Backrooms entities such as Facelings, and Hounds; however, Ravager Apes greatly prefer the flesh of humans over any other and will enter a frenzy whenever they believe a human is nearby.

The Ravager Apes have a terrifying capacity for violence and are almost always hunting. These entities seem to derive a twisted sense of pleasure in the act of killing human beings and tending to play around with their victims, giving them a false sense of security and leading them to believe they harrowingly escaped only to jump them unexpectedly. Ravager Apes will typically manage to surround a group of wanderers long before they have even noticed their presence. At that point they will advance towards the wanderers, using their eyes to terrify their targets and break their spirits before they have even begun to attack.

Noclipping Leap[]

Though Ravager Apes are native to jungle-themed levels, alpha apes have been known to invade other levels on occasion, using an ability known as Noclipping Leap. Ravager Apes will do this without provocation, howling out of nowhere and rushing forward in a wild sprint before leaping and suddenly vanishing in the air, apparently noclipped to another location.

In some other level of the backrooms, the ape will suddenly burst through a wall and come crashing in, completely unharmed. The ape will proceed to search its environment for prey to devour, before returning through the hole into the Death Jungles from where it came. These holes will remain for approximately 7 days before vanishing, keeping the levels connected and allowing other Ravager Apes to forage for food on the other level while the hole remains open.

Habitat[]

Ravager Apes inhabit jungle-themed levels, as known before, also known as the Death Jungles, a forested area as wild and unforgiving as the apes that inhabit it. Ravager Apes are very well adapted to these jungles, which are perpetually drenched by a wild rainstorm and obscured by a thick fog that wanders through the forest floor. The hair of these creatures is sharp and abrasive, insulating them from the rain while also protecting them from the foliage as they swing through the trees in search of prey.

Their large size allows them to climb the massive redwoods found on the level, and they are clever enough to avoid the various flash floods and mudslides that occur in the Death Jungles. Although they are smart enough to use tools in more complex ways, generally Ravager Apes will use simple sticks to beat their prey to death, or impale them on tree branches and leave them as a warning to any wanderers who encounter the bodies. Another common behavior is for Ravager Apes to wait quietly in ambush high in the trees before leaping down on wanderers and crushing them, or simply tearing a branch from the tree and chucking it at them, killing them instantly.

Clans[]

  • The Red-Eye Clan: The clan is known for their particularly aggressive behavior and bright, glowing red eyes.
  • The Tree Stalkers: They are smaller but faster Ravager Apes that specialize in high-speed ambushes from tree canopies.
  • The Stone-Fanged Clan: A rare group of Ravager Apes whose teeth and claws are unusually hard, allowing them to tear through reinforced walls and barricades.
