Description[]
The Enigmatic Wanderer, a not-so-human being, appears to be an average wanderer you might see lurking around the humongous and varied levels of the Backrooms. His skin is a pale green color, as if he hasn’t savored a meal in days. His hat shades his face, enhancing his mysterious and unusual presence. He wears a brown leather coat with a vintage theme, and his pants are a longer and darker brown shade, which symbolizes the entity’s assertiveness.
You would usually not find the Enigmatic Wanderer in extremely subsided levels, especially those that act as safe havens or sanctuaries. He typically appears in less subsided levels with more hazardous conditions. Witnesses of this rare, once-in-a-lifetime entity say he emanates a greenish, unsettling aura that signals the arrival of inertia and the departure of guidance. Little is known about this enigmatic figure, as most who encounter him never make it out alive, either because of the level they are in or because of him.
Behavior[]
The Enigmatic Wanderer clearly does not behave like any sane or normal human being. However, this does not indicate that the entity is extremely dangerous, as it rarely attacks wanderers unless provoked or threatened. When a wanderer does provoke the Enigmatic Wanderer, he does not attack immediately like other Backrooms entities might. Instead, he waits for the next provocation before striking with unimaginable fury.
As of now, no one knows how the entity truly behaves in the absence of humans. Any attempts to stalk or observe him from a distance result in aggression toward the observer. However, this does not mean that simply looking at him will provoke an attack. Many wanderers have seen him and lived to tell the tale. The main theory is that normal observation without the intent to study his behavior is perceived by the entity as non-hostile.
His presence often brings major changes to the environment, such as illuminating walls, sudden appearances of new spaces or rooms, and even alterations in the laws of physics . Both witnesses and survivors of the Enigmatic Wanderer have reported temporary memory loss after being attacked by him. This often causes scavenging squads to lose coordination and panic, sometimes leading to their deaths at the hands of other entities.
The Enigmatic Wanderer is not confined to any specific level of the Backrooms. He roams freely across various levels, often appearing in the more desolate and remote areas. Though not bound to any particular level, it is theorized that he occasionally visits the Void. It seems as though he is a part of the “Voidling” Empire, or perhaps a member of the species itself.
Abilities and Forms[]
Base Form[]
The base form of the Enigmatic Wanderer appears to be wearing a leather hat, a brown leather suit, and brown nylon pants. His skin has a dreadful pale greenish tint, and he emits a light green aura around himself. It is unknown whether the entity has facial features, as his hat always shades his face, making it almost impossible to see. He is the most passive in this form.
In this form, the strength of the Enigmatic Wanderer is incomparable to that of a human. On average, a human can lift about 70 kilograms, run as fast as 20 kph, and endure multiple blows from trained individuals. The Enigmatic Wanderer, on the other hand, has been seen lifting huge chunks of debris weighing several tons, running faster than 50 kph, using teleportation, and seemingly shifting the space around him. He also appears capable of distorting people’s memories, weather it is replacing them or erasing them entirely.
Combat Form[]
The Enigmatic Wanderer’s combat form severely differs from his base form in terms of appearance. In this form, he does not look humanoid at all, it is strikingly similar to an alien you would see from a cartoon show, he has neon green acidic substances covering him and multiple tubes sticking out and back in behind his back. His skin appears to be as dark as the Void, his legs two big pillars of green. As cartoonish as it may seem, this form is the most dangerous form of the Enigmatic Wanderer. This form of the Enigmatic Wanderer has only been seen once by a Wanderer in Level 1.
In terms of strength, durability or speed, it doesn't seem to differ from the base form, whats really intriguing about this form is the abilities that the Enigmatic Wanderer is seen to be using in the combat form. Aside from teleportation, he can spew out acid that capable of vaporising concrete grounds in a matter of seconds. Survivors of his wrath also say that he can be seen blasting shots of greenish lightning out from his tubes and can cause crazy amounts of damage and destruction.
Incidents and Witness Logs[]
Incident #1A[]
Incident Log #1
October 27th 2019
The Incident starts of with a small group of 12 wanderers in their base at a more secluded zone of Level 1.
[Radio Communication Log Starts]
Tenner: Hey-uh John?
John: Yeah whats up?
Tenner: Its been at least 3 damn hours since those two went off to find food ya know.
Jeck: Im sure they are alright! After all they have been through a bunch in these horrid ‘lots’ of space.
John: Mhm. Stop worrying about them, try to worry about guarding the entrance of the base.
Tenner: (sighs) Yeah yeah…
[15 minutes past]
Tenner: Hey can someone come over here and help me check something out? I think theres someone at the corner over there.
John: Whats up?
Tenner: Look over there.
John: Oh yeah, looks like a survivor. You think we should check on him?
Tenner: Not really, he looks kinda sketchy.
Unnamed Group Member: Go check on him John, the more the merrier, it keeps my sanity up when theres more people after all.
Jeck: No! Are you stupid? The more we have, the harder we will have to work to get food.
John: You guys need to calm the f*ck down, I am checking either way because, unlike Jeck over here, I still have my humanity.
[Communication Log Fast-Forwards]
Tenner: Hey I don’t think you should be doing this John.
John: Its too late I am already approaching it.
Tenner: Oh don’t you f*cking blame me when you are crying for help later.
John: C’mon I am not that dumb to just let my guard down like that. When I see a survivor, I know thats a survivor, nothing otherwise.
Unnamed Group Member: Yeah Tenner, stop being so on guard all the time, you got us through some real trouble in the past for doing that.
Tenner: Oh shut up.
[Communication Log Fast-Forwards again to when John makes contact]
John: Hey! Buddy, you okay? (There wasn’t a response from the entity)
John: Oi! Im talking to you!
John: Huh?! What the…… arghhhh! (Muffles were heard)
Tenner: John! You copy?! John!
Tenner: F*ck! I told you guys that guy is suspicious!
Jeck: Alright but how were we supposed to know.
Unnamed Group Member: C’mon pull yourself together idiots! We need to find out what happened to John.
Jeck: Do we wake the rest of the guys up?
Unnamed Group Member: Nien. It’s probably just a raider trying to get supplies from our base. The three of us can take him up for a beating.
Tenner: Wait just a moment! If he really is a raider, it’s possible that he’s trying to lure us out and ambush us with more men that are hiding nearby.
Unnamed Group Member: If he really had more men than us, then they would’ve ambushed us already rather than trying to lure us.
Jeck: Yeah, plus, the raider’s group and base got taken down a long time ago.
[Communication Log Fast-Forwards to Contact]
Tenner: God..Please… (More mumbles of prayers were heard)
Jeck: Gosh. What are you praying for! This is a piece-of-cake-beat-up you hear me? None of us here are going to die.
Unnamed Group Member: Guys shut up! There he is!
Unnamed Group Member: Hey! You! What the hell did you do to our guy?! (Again there was no response from the entity)
Unnamed Group Member: Can you hear me? Hey! Verdammte Hölle! This b*tch!
Jeck: Oh my god! (Vomiting was heard)
Tenner: Jeck! What happened?
Jeck: Look there… (she cried out while vomiting was still heard)
Tenner: Holy F*ck… what happened to John?
[A loud bang was heard and then came the sound of someone falling to the ground]
Tenner: Wha-
[Another bang was heard this time also with the sound of falling]
Tenner: Jeck! F*ck! (faint and harrowed breaths were heard)
Tenner: Man f*ck this sh*t man Im outta here! (Rapid and quick footsteps echoed through the hallways of Level 1)
[Sounds of a door opening and closing were heard]
Tenner: I made it back, phew! (Panting was heard)
Tenner: I've gotta warn the othe-
[An explosion was heard and then the sound of radio static]
Final Death Count: 10
Survivor Count: 2

Location: Level 0
Incident Overview: On May 7th, 2012, a scavenger squad consisting of ten members was assembled by the M.E.G. to search for necessities around Level 0. This mission aimed to support a base that had been built in Level 0 for wanderers who had just recently entered the Backrooms. Everything was going smoothly for the first 30 minutes or so, until the M.E.G. members turned a corner and came into contact with the target entity.
The scavenging units, thinking it was a lost wanderer, approached him and offered help. There was no response from him. Immediately sensing that something was not right, the squad began to retreat slowly while keeping an eye on him. Shortly after, loud screams and intense panting were heard, abruptly cutting off the radio.
