Dream Bee

Dream Bees, also classified as Entity 68, are small entities resembling honey bees from The Frontrooms. Dream Bees are distinguished by their distinct behaviours from honey bees ,and a pale, fuzzy thorax. Their stripes come in various colors, such as red, blue, orange etc, usually featuring two colors for the stripes of each Dream Bee.

Dream Bees have never been physically observed, only manifesting within the dreams of wanderers resting near their hives. Based on consistent dream reports, researchers estimated the length of adult Dream Bees to be about 12-15 millimeters in length, however. Larval and juvenile bees have never been recorded, and there I no evidence of a queen bee hierarchy. Some researchers speculate that Dream Bees operate collectively without central leadership.Dream Bees do not appear to reproduce in a biological sense. Instead, some suggest that they form directly in wanderers dreams.

Habitats[]

Dream bee hives are pale, waxy structures with faint luminescene. When found outdoors, they can be seen suspended in mid-air, swaying gently as if attached to invisible threads. When found indoors, they are commonly located in ceiling corners or high along walls, seamlessly blending in to the surrounding architecture. However, their hives unusual placements never drip or degrade, nor do they cause damage to their surrounding environment.

Dream Bee hives are most frequently found in levels where wanderers gather or rest, particularly in safe zones such as outposts etc. Their placement suggests their tendency to "establish" near consistent sources of human sleep. Wanderers have reported faint buzzing sounds near the area of the hives, occasionally shaking a little due to airflow, as though swarms were passing by just out of sight.

Wanderers who have attempted to tamper or destroy Dream Bees hives have consistently reported reduced dream frequency, presistent nightmares, along with feelings of depression. As Dream Bees don't have physical bodies and can't physically harm wanderers, it is speculated that they defend themselves by harming them mentally to those who tamper with their hives by diminishing their dopamine release and altering the sleepers mental balance.

Behaviour[]

Dream bees don't appear physically, but manifest only within dreams. When a wanderer sleeps near a Dream Bee hive, the hive may shiver slightly before the bees appear as soft, luminous swarms. Dream Bees guide the sleeper happy into calm, pleasant, nostalgic landscapes. Wanderers often describe these as highly immersive, leaving them with feelings of peace and familiarity.

Dream bees feed on dopamine generated during positive dream experiences. By encouraging beneficial dream states, they ensure a steady release of the chemical dopamine, which in turn allows the production of Dream Honey. Dreams influenced by Dream Bees typically last 30 minutes to 2 hours. Wanderers report feeling better, improved moods, and less anxiety upon waking up. Due to difficulty of recalling dreams, documentation about these dreams remains inconsistent, as not all wanderers can remember their dreams, thought the aftereffects of their presence are usually apparent.

Dream Honey[]

Dream Bees produce a rare substance known as Dream Honey (Object 68), a faintly glowing nectar stored within their hives. When consumed in small amounts, Dream Honey induces vivid, pleasant dreams, and improvement in mood upon waking up. While Dream Honey is beneficial, excessive intake is hazardous. Overconsumption can lead to insomnia, paranoia, and a form of dependency where the wanderer seek constant contact with the hives. In extreme cases the wanderer won't be able to distinguish reality and dreams apart. Dream Honey cannot be stored for long, as within 10-24 hours from the hive, it crystallises into a fine, white dust.

Discovery[]

The first recorded encounter dates back to 1934, when a wanderer named Tom discovered a hive suspended from mid-air. Exhausted, Tom chose to rest near it as he couldn't afford to look for any other spot, so he laid on the grass and slept. When Tom woke up, he felt an unusal sense of happines and felt mentally better. He later reported this case to M.E.G.
