Description[]

A picture of Entity 74 affecting the sky.

Entity 74

Entity 74, colloquially known as “Tornadoes," (Scientific name enviromenta vindas.) are perilous, usually isolated, and territorial creatures found within windy and outdoor levels in the Backrooms. Tornadoes are mainly found within Level 10 sublevels, mainly in Level 10.4, and maze-like levels, such as Level 789; and possibly Level 131. Tornadoes have a core in the center of their body, many theories suggest that it is composed of the kinetic energy within Tornadoes, this is the most accepted theory, while others affirm that it is molten gold, glass, or a perilous yellowish gas. When one takes a picture of a Tornado, the picture will likely be slightly more lavender-colored; a slash-like, fading glow may appear in the pictures. Tornadoes become larger as they consume more things. A Tornado's main diet comprises stone, wood, energy, and meat. A Tornado cannot exit its birth level; as they are mostly air, they cannot no-clip into other levels. The presence of a Tornado can make the sky turn a purple, lavender-like hue, or any other color attributed to the Tornado.

As time passes, Tornadoes will generate a thick layer of fog and clouds above them. This layer, known as "Tornado Fog," protects the entity's core. This fog is also responsible for making the sky a specific color, mainly lavender. This fog also absorbs rainwater, oxygen, and CO2, among others, which may extend the Tornado's lifespan and health. The fog becomes taller and thicker as the Tornado ages. When the entity dies, the fog remains, floating and wandering around the level; it dissipates after roughly two months.

Behavior[]

Tornadoes do not have a very high level of intelligence; they are relatively unintelligent. Tornadoes are known for being very territorial. They will often search for any structure to destroy, due to their destructive nature, mainly wood and stone. Tornadoes also often search the levels to find entities and wanderers to consume. Once two Tornadoes encounter each other, they may begin to battle; the battle often ends in both becoming one larger Tornado. Tornadoes have shown a fear of electricity, despite not having facial features. Tornadoes will often wander in a level, searching for anything to consume. Tornadoes become more aggressive as they age, eventually attacking anything in sight. If provoked or scared, a Tornado may attempt to perpetually hunt down the being that committed such an act until it is consumed. The Tornado will attempt various things, such as absorbing other things to become larger and stronger and adjusting its wind power, among others.

Similarly to humans, Tornadoes may develop an addiction to a certain action or material, commonly triggered by executing an action repetitively. Addicted Tornadoes commonly prioritize their addiction over consuming and wandering. It is most common for younger Tornadoes become addicted, mainly to consuming stones or certain entities. Older Tornadoes most commonly became addicted to wandering around levels. Tornadoes tend to lose their addictions as they age, unless a new addiction is created.

As Tornadoes age, they become more desperate and nervous; their cognitive function begins declining; they quickly and hopelessly search for resources in obvious areas; and they refuse to migrate as resources turn into scarcity. The fade of the entity's core becomes darker and more transparent, losing its energy. They may also become more aggressive, attacking any nearby beings and destroying outposts.

Biology[]

A Tornado after uniting with another instance.

Big tornardo

Tornadoes take on the appearance of an ordinary tornado from the Frontrooms, however, Tornadoes have a slight hue of lavender. Tornadoes lack facial features. It is unknown how these entities can know if there are beings surrounding them; it is believed that Tornadoes sense their presence, similarly to Foams. Tornadoes are much larger than ordinary tornadoes, being hundreds of meters bigger. They seem to have a kinetic energy core in the center of their bodies, as a slight yellow-like glow emanates from their center. Whenever a Tornado consumes a living being or a structure, it grows a small number of centimeters in size. When two Tornadoes touch, they will unite into a large Tornado, as previously described. Tornadoes have a stronger wind than their Frontroom counterparts, being able to launch anything up into the air by simply being a kilometer away. Tornadoes are able to adjust their wind and rain power. Tornadoes can create a rain-like event, liberating water droplets from their bodies for a minimum of 50 minutes. Tornadoes are created during heavy rains or periods of fast winds. Similar to tornadoes in the Frontrooms, the fast wind of the level meets in an invisible, defined air sphere within the level, where wind and lightning, along with other forms of energy, unite, creating a Tornado.

Entity 74 Background

A Tornado’s lifespan is approximately 200 days, slowly dissipating in its last 80 days, becoming smaller and weaker. After its death, the remaining energy and wind in the Tornado are liberated in the form of a cloud or a sphere-shaped laser. Normally, the laser is strong enough to devastate a moderately-sized area of the level for months, causing fires, a shockwave, the liberation of CO2, and other disasters, often killing nearby wanderers and entities on impact.

Tornadoes, while rare, can vary in color and shape; yellow instances, for example, are faster, live longer, and have more energy in their core. Blue instances have less energy, are frigid, and have a have a shorter lifespan. Red specimens are generally more aggressive, larger, and have more wind power. White specimens are generally more friendly and live the longest, living 480 days. Tornardoes may vary due to what molecules and gases are in the air, energy within the level, wind speed and amount, and air concentration, among others.

A Tornado's core is composed of several different essential regions, which help the entity remain alive. The respirators are responsible for absorbing wind and energy and releasing them to the rest of the entity. Storage is the region where all of the kinetic energy is kept. The tubes send kinetic energy into the storage when needed. The "brain" is responsible for making choices, similarly to humans. The Convertio is responsible for transforming absorbed materials, structures, and living beings into a part of the body of the Tornado. The movators are responsible for moving the wind body of the Tornado, the brain sends signals to the movators to move the body. The plasmn is responsible for protecting the core. The remaining body of the entity is fully composed of rapid compressed wind, which moves according to the brain's choices and the movators.

Discovery[]

According to various sources, Tornadoes were first discovered on Level 10 sublevels by M.E.G. explorers back in April of 2013. Apparently, they were exploring the level in hopes of encountering new entities and objects. Eventually, they encountered a Tornado being created in the level. They reported that the event was so strange that they were blinded for a small amount of seconds. They requested the M.E.G. study the entity more and eventually catalog it as the 74th entity. Although reports of entities with similar descriptions to Tornadoes date back to the 1920s, other sources and people affirm these entities were discovered somewhere and sometime else.

Tornadoes may also have been discovered at Level 144 on March 23, 2006. During Phenomena 21, several explorers were wandering the level, fighting to survive. While attempting to encounter an exit, they sighted what was believed to be a Glitch Hurricane amongst the dead cloudscape, coming closer. Running away, they made a log; most of the explorers later died, while two survived and are missing today.

Do's and Don'ts[]

Do's:[]

  • Run away.
  • Do not provoke the entity.
  • Hide within a room built of hard materials or underground.
  • Establish an undeground outpost.
  • Attempt to make the instance gain a non-consuming related addiction.

Don'ts:[]

  • Approach the entity.
  • Provide it food. This may cause a consuming addiction.
  • Jump. This may cause the person to be sucked up.
  • Provoke it. This may cause the Tornado to perpetually hunt the provoker down.
  • Establish an aboveground outpost in a level known for Tornadoes.
