Prologue: The Brothers Grimm
Operation Stake Out
Miranda is not well.
A number of sleepless nights resulted in her physical and mental state deteriorating. She looked like a corpse. She moved like a ghost. Her little brothers knew something was wrong and decided they need to investigate. They decided they going to stake out under her bed.
Ashley whips out his plastic sword declaring: Okay! Here is the deal! Our older sister is sick. Mom and dad thinks it is stress. I think a vampire is feeding on her every night. She is a young virgin... vampires dig virgins...! Ashley glances over at Astrid to acknowledge his stare of judgement. What!? That's the good lore concerning vampires! Glittery vampires suck a**!
Astrid rubs his face and sighs: Miranda is in a bad way and you over there cracking jokes...
Ashley is offended: I am being serious! I brought garlic...! See! Ashley shows Astrid the garlic and what looks like a makeshift stake. We are kicking that vampire's a**!
Astrid reasons: I doubt it is a vampire. Astrid proceeds to walk down the hall and towards their sister's bedroom.
Ashley hurries after him: But... what if it is a vampire!!
Astrid continues to reason: They are not real!
Ashley catches up: But...you do not know for sure...
Astrid is annoyed: Bruh!?
Screening for Hostiles (and Girlie Stuff)
Miranda's bedroom was your typical teenage girl's bedroom. Miranda's bedroom consists of a dresser, two nightstands, a closet, a bed cluttered with plushies and pillows, and a big cage designated for a small animal. Her walls was lavender in color and covered with butterflies and posters featuring boy bands and amine characters. Her dresser was cluttered with make-up and jewelry. Ashley was checking out her vanity and could be heard giggling on the other side of the room. Astrid drifts towards her closet. He noticed that the door was tied shut with jump rope and hair scrunchies.
Ashley gets closer to read what was written on the vanity mirror. He laughs, Hey! Astrid! I think our sister has a crush or a boyfriend! She has his name written in lip on her mirror. Come check it out! His name Charlie!! There is like a million hearts surrounding this guy's name. Totally a crush!! He notices Astrid did not come over, Bruh?
Astrid says firmly: Ashley, we did not come in here for that!
Ashley whines:You are being lame right now!
Astrid retorts: You are not taking this seriously. She tied her closet door shut! Now! Stop f*cking around and come over here!
Ashley pouts but obeys. He joins Astrid after silently throwing a fit. He immediately stops upon seeing how bound the closet door was.
Ashley comments with concerning: Oh...wow! Uh? As much as I would like to tease our big sis about monsters in the closet, I will not. She bound this door pretty good. Ashley consults Astrid nervously. You do not think something is in there?
Astrid presses his ear to door and responses: Maybe? I do not hear anything... Well, I mean... I do not hear anything now. Astrid backs away from the door and concludes. I think this is serious! She used her favorite scrunchies to keep this door closed. Her issues is with sleep. So, whatever might be in there, should come at night.
Ashley confesses: I did not come prepared for closet monsters, Astrid...
Down Under
Astrid and Ashley waited under there sister's bed for 2 hours. Their moment came. Miranda floated into her room and drifted into her bed. She did not stop to change into her night ware. She did not close the door. She did not cut off any lights. Her and her bed embraced and she was fell fast asleep. The poor creature was vulnerable and sleep deprived.
Ashley whispers: Okay! Now what?
Astrid shushed him. Astrid thought he heard something. A rattling noise. It was quiet again. Nothing happened again for another 15 minutes.
Ashley attempts to speak again: Maybe we should... Ashley was cut off by banging and rattling that was coming from the window and the panic yelp of their sister.
The window rattled and shook for 5 minutes before it was quiet again.
Miranda could be heard saying: I know that is not all...
Astrid and Ashley debated whether or not they should reveal themselves as the lights went out in their sister's room. They both acknowledged with horrified stares that their sister did not leave her bed.
The window began to shake and whisper over and over, "Be not afraid... Be not afraid... Be not afraid... Be not afraid..."
Astrid flinched hearing something crush again the closet door. Ashley stared at his brother in horror. They both heard the sound of scratching against the closet door.
Miranda could be heard saying: Be not afraid... come out or we will come in... Okay...
The purple light came on in the hallway. Miranda climbed off her bed. Miranda stopped to write something down in her journey. Tears was running down her face.
Ashley was terrified: Who is she talking too? Where is she going? What the f*ck is happening?
The whispers grew in to chants, "Be not afraid... come out or we will come in...Be not afraid... come out or we will come in...Be not afraid... come out or we will come in...Be not afraid... come out or we will come in...Be not afraid... come out or we will come in...Be not afraid... come out or we will come in...Be not afraid... come out or we will come in...Be not afraid... come out or we will come in..."
Miranda continued her march towards the door. She was trembling but she made up her mind. She had surrendered. She was coming out so they would not come in. She got to the door's threshold. She inhaled deeply. She closed her eyes. The chants stop in anticipation... and she step out into the hallway. It was quiet again.
Ashley rolled for from under the bed horrified and confused. MIRANDA!! He called after his sister before he sprinted towards and out the door after her.
Astrid rolled from under the bed in a hurry to follow his siblings. His mind was spinning. He could barely proceed there was writing all over on the walls and ceiling. What he was the following, "Be not afraid. Come out or we will come in." There was no time for him to think. His sister was driven mad by these voices, these writings and these taunts. Ashley was gone by the time Astrid reached the door. Astrid realized that as he and his siblings cross this door's threshold this would be the last time they will see their world again.
Bad Blood: The M.E.G.
The M.E.G. was conducting experiments to study spatial anomalies in The Backrooms and accidental created a pocket dimensional in a young girl's bedroom. They found this oddly convenient as they were planning to launch studies that involved the use of children. They focus and assessments were initially on Miranda making her the first child used in The Great Experiment. They became interested in using her younger brothers as they began interfering with their project and getting too close to learning the truth. M.E.G. concluded their studies on Miranda when she went missing in Level -182. They focused their attention on Astrid and Ashley who they promptly captured while they were trying rescues their sister.
They housed us like rats and branded us cattle.
M.E.G. Paranormal Psychologist, Cindy W. Müller comments: Is there a reason why you wrote the first 3 parts of this log as story?
Dr. Astrid F. Nightingale responses: It was supposed function as cringy fanfiction, but I digress. I am trying to find the silver lining in all of this. He is numb, Your organization dares question me concerning my brother... He chuckles in self-pity. I cannot blame the M.E.G. anymore. He confesses. I am older than I look. I am 319 years old. I cannot tell you how times reality was erased and allowed to manifest itself again. How many iterations of the M.E.G. I have seen. How canons, realities and iterations of The Backrooms exist. What role if any does the M.E.G. play in them. I cannot hold a grudge against the M.E.G. because that reality... that M.E.G. is gone. Yet, I am still bitter.
M.E.G. Paranormal Psychologist, Cindy W. Müller comments: Are you saying you and Ashley got your revenge against the M.E.G. in your reality?
Dr. Astrid F. Nightingale responses: No... the M.E.G. in that reality eventually destroyed itself by attempting to conqueror The Backrooms.
M.E.G. Paranormal Psychologist, Cindy W. Müller shakes her head: Okay...if the M.E.G. was destroyed in your reality... what does you and your brother have against us?
Dr. Astrid F. Nightingale responses: I have seen a number of M.E.G. iteration that conducts experiments on civilians, so I do not trust you. Ashley is unstable, angry and bored. It is not like we found Miranda. It is not like things were normal for us.Bad Blood
