Overview[]
Perhaps the most interesting aspect of Almond Water is its extreme reactivity with nearly anything. Almond Water is known to make new compounds when mixed with a variety of substances both anomalous and non-anomalous, often resulting in products like Greek Fire when mixed with Carpet Fluid, for example.
Due to the thousands of sub-items and variants of Almond Water currently documented, for general convenience, most of the items created using Almond Water have been listed here instead of within individual pages for ease of organization. All Database users are encouraged to add their own entries to this list to educate other wanderers.Sub-Items[]
"Almonds"
Almonds, not to be confused with The Frontrooms snack; are a species of anomalous nuts that when eaten can produce both a quick burst of energy and pain relief and a weak but long duration of mental hazard protection.
They are made by soaking nuts in Almond Water while waiting for them to dry. These appear stronger if the nuts are almonds.
"Almond Antivenom"
Almond Antivenom is a synthesized substance that can reduce the effects of Liquid Pain. The liquid is green in color and is sour and bitter in taste. The object can be created by mixing Almond Water with hydrochloric acid. Drinking it is the only safe form of consumption, and injection will instantly kill wanderers. Over 40 known wanderers have been saved by this substance after accidentally consuming Liquid Pain.
Almond Antivenom is a relatively newly discovered object, and thus it is not available in most levels. It was discovered by M.E.G. and they are working on mass producing it. However, hydrochloric acid is incredibly difficult to safely retrieve in the Backrooms and 5 employees have died or gone missing trying.
"Almond Cake"
Almond Cake is a nutritious delicacy created by making a cake while mixing the cake batter with Almond Water, with a taste similar to the object in question. Although normally Almond Water would lack nutritional value, strangely, when mixed into a cake, it reacts with the cake batter to greatly increase its nutritional value, allowing one to go weeks without eating food after eating a slice of Almond Cake.
However, due to it not occurring naturally within the Backrooms, and due to most ingredients of cake batter within the Backrooms either being hard to find or rendering the resulting batter completely non-nutritious, Almond Cake is quite hard to find, and thus many wanderers never get to see an instance of it.
"Warny's Almond Candy"
Warny's Almond Candy is a famous dessert for all wanderers. Chocolate and caramel-coated almonds drizzled with almond water served in a divine plastic wrapper. Every single bite is a soothing paradise for your tastebuds. Our factories, owned by Warny himself are located all around Level 11. You can also use our candy on ice cream, pudding, cupcakes, and cakes. Just order one today at Back-bay.com!
"Almond Coffee"
Almond Coffee is one of the healthiest and most refreshing cold beverages in the Backrooms, typically served in glass cups that hold a few hundred milliliters. The drink consists of Almond Water, vanilla, chocolate-flavored cold coffee, and a topping of whipped cream. The coffee itself has a flavor reminiscent of chocolate milk, with a pleasant hint of vanilla. The glass cups are sturdy and are known not to break unless subjected to heavy impact. Almond Coffee can also be found in plastic and paper cups, with plastic cups holding the most and paper cups the least.
Almond Coffee is caffeine-free, instead containing an unidentified chemical that mimics the effects of caffeine. This chemical is much healthier than caffeine and strangely enhances the functional abilities of the consumer, such as running, walking, talking, and thinking. It can also help individuals stay awake for slightly longer than usual. However, the effects do not last long, and almond coffee is difficult to find. So far, it has been most commonly found in Level 300, and Level 514.
"Almond-Crusted Fish Filet"
Almond-Crusted Fish Filet is a delightful, yet unfulfilling dish cooked peculiarly. The cooking process begins by marinating fish filets in Almond Water, then preparing the meal in any process. Cut almonds crystalize dotted around the fish's surface as the fish heats. Fish usually come with various nutrients when prepared conventionally, but Almond-Crusted Fish Filets are severely lacking in nutrition and, in some cases, even unhealthy to consume. Some believe drinking regular Almond Water is healthier than eating this dish.
Despite this, Almond-Crusted Fish Filets exude a heavenly taste, garnering a renowned reputation for being one of the Backrooms' tastiest dishes. The foodstuff's reputation of low nutrition and exceptional taste have earned it the title "Processed Food of the Backrooms." It is served with other meals to counter its lack of nutritional value, including rice, bread, salads, and potato-based snacks.
"Almond Cupcake"
Almond Cupcakes are highly nutritious compared to their size, with a single cupcake being sufficient to sustain an average person for one meal. These cupcakes are topped with vanilla and whipped cream, and the cake itself is made using Almond Water and almond extract. For an unknown reason, they are rich in protein and contain less sugar than the average cupcake. Additionally, they are known to remain fresh for weeks, provided they do not come into contact with any liquid.
Almond Cupcakes can typically be found in inconspicuous corners of levels that are safe and hygienically sound. It has also been reported that, after being taken or completely spoiled, a new cupcake will anomalously appear in a nearby location after a long time.
"Almond Jelly"
Almond Jelly is a ready-to-eat, jelly-like food stored in metal cans with a shelf life of several decades. It is made from Almond Water and other unknown ingredients. The taste of Almond Jelly is similar to watery gummy candy, and its nutritional value is extremely high. A single can is reported to keep a person full for over 12 hours. While the cans vary in shape and size, they are recognizable by the "Almond Jelly" label in the center.
Almond Jelly can be found in any level of the Backrooms that resembles a non-technologically advanced environment from The Frontrooms. However, it has never been encountered in any of the first nine levels. It is believed that Almond Jelly was first discovered in Level 9 in the 1800s. Although not widely popular, it has been known and consumed by many people since its discovery. Due to its ease of storage and quick consumption, Almond Jelly has historically played a vital role during food shortages and times of panic, saving countless lives. Its reputation has led to frequent shipments of Almond Jelly being stored in Level 399.
"Almond Meth"
Almond Meth is a sub-category of Almond Water, created out of boiled Almond Water. Similar to its namesake, Almond Meth is a stimulant drug designed to be as addictive as possible. After some testing, it has been determined that Almond Meth contains trace amounts of Fentanyl, Cyanide, and Nicotine - all 3 of which are highly addictive and harmful to the human body.
Almond Meth can commonly be found in the form of crystals, pills, or powders, as well as being found in syringes. Almond Meth is highly fatal if consumed en masse, with around 35 grams being enough to kill a human being. It is known for being white with a yellow discoloration, much like the packaging on Almond Water bottles.
"Almond Soda"
Almond Soda is a carbonated drink that is a combination of strawberry or fermented cherry soda and a portion of Almond Water. It can only be found naturally in Level 399. The drink has an extremely high sugar content, which can significantly increase the consumer's heart rate. Almond Soda is served in large glass cups and has the unusual property of always remaining fresh and cold. At room temperature, it can contain up to 10 small ice cubes, and the melting point of the ice has been observed to be 256°C (493°F). The complete evaporation point of the drink is unknown, but its freezing point has been reported to be around -128°C (-198°F). Almond Soda is addictive and consuming more than four glasses is considered dangerous. Excessive consumption has been reported to result in sudden heart attacks. Despite its risks, Almond Soda is quite popular in safe levels.
It is known that the drink was accidentally discovered on April 27, 1967, and on its 50th anniversary (April 27, 2017), a 10-second advertisement featuring information and the recipe for the drink was released.
"Almond Tea"
Almond Tea is served in delicate glass cups, often with a slice of lemon placed on the rim. The tea consists of Almond Water, tea, and a small amount of milk. The cups used for almond tea are fragile and can shatter into thousands of pieces with any hard contact. The temperature of the tea varies from level to level; for example, in Level 10.99, the tea is hot, as if freshly brewed with boiling water. The tea has an exceptionally long shelf life and can remain drinkable for months. It also has a calming effect on those who consume it, with excessive consumption potentially leading to drowsiness or sleep. Over time, the tea may become sourer due to the lemon in the cup. Its nutritional value is almost identical to that of Almond Water. According to consumer reports, the taste of the tea falls somewhere between the flavors of tea made in England and Turkey.
Almond Tea can typically be found in nature-themed levels or rural areas, often placed on wooden furniture like tables. It can also be made by adding Almond Water and a small amount of milk to hot tea.
"Almond Toothpaste"
Almond Toothpaste is regular toothpaste, presumably mixed with Almond Water. The toothpaste has a beige color along with a vanilla scent. Brushing one's teeth with this toothpaste gives one the feeling of eating ice cream instead of regular, minty toothpaste. Almond Toothpaste has exceptional tooth whitening and strengthening properties, where if used routinely for a fortnight, one's teeth will whiten to a pearly appearance, regardless of the state the teeth were in before the usage. Additionally, it solves many dental problems, such as the need to wear braces. Rumors state that it even mutates a child's tooth into a regular tooth.
Unfortunately, the recipe for Almond Toothpaste remains undiscovered. Scavenging certain levels and areas for the item is the only acquisition method. Tubes of toothpaste exist in Level 238 and Level 5's hotel bathrooms, in random locations on Level 330, and rarely on Level 570's shelves. Its rarity and dental capabilities have made Almond Toothpaste a hot commodity among wanderers.
"Almond Wine"
Almond Wine is a mildly addictive solution that contains excessive amounts of ethanol. The effects of almond water seem to decrease the intensity of health and addiction hazards typically linked to said ethanol; however, it is highly recommended to keep away from adolescents. Reactions within the wine have given the beverage a pink hint and exaggerated the effects of the carbon dioxide (CO²). Almond wine is said to specialise in improved digestive systems- any major injuries to intestines will be instantly healed while providing the gut with excellent quantities of fibre.
Reports have claimed that Almond Wine is an abundance in the snack stalls of Level 154. Its recipe was officially discovered in June 14, 2001 when M.E.G. researcher P.L. accidently spilt almond water and grape juice on an anomalous ethanol solution. Roughly 20 years after discovery, M.E.G. took to sales with this celebratory drink.
"Almond Rum"
Almond Rum is a highly alcoholic mixture of Almond Water and is often found in Level 712. The mixture contains >75% alcohol and is extremely toxic to ingest outside of said level. The mixture has been replicated by pouring Almond Water and saltwater together in a 1:1 ratio and then adding sugar. The fermentation process can happen extremely quickly and violently so adding small amounts of sugar at a time is mandatory. In small amounts (<1cL) it has been known to slowly counteract the effects of Roth Syndrome. This property is unfortunately not present when consumed in Level 712 due to the suppression of several positive and negative effects in the level.
"AlmondCorp NRG"
AlmondCorp NRG is a highly concentrated, and highly addictive almond-flavoured drink, packaged in metallic cans. It is known for its potent physiological effects and high rates of addiction. The drink causes severe dehydration and exhaustion, while temporarily enhancing physical strength, causing a ban from competitive sport and a the classification of a war crime. Regular consumption leads to a condition called "Almond Burnout".
Almond Burnout is a condition which causes extreme delirium and massive projectile vomiting upon consuming nuts, lasting for up to 75 hours. It has currently only been documented from AlmondCorp products, leading many to believe dangerous chemicals may be inserted during the creation process of their food and drinks. Whether this is true, or even if AlmondCorp exists, is yet to be proven.
"Masked Ink"
Masked Ink is a highly useful product of Almond Water's reaction with Papersap. The ink itself is, upon first creation, a teal-ish colour, and exhibits a subtle aroma of almonds. Despite M.E.G.'s attempts, the ink doesn't seem to be compatible with modern-day, ballpoint pens, only working with the fountain pens it is often found next to or if turned into a spray. The key reason for Masked Inks' use is the fact that, it can be "hidden" with the right method- if made with certain, very precise amounts of both Papersap and Almond Water , the ink will turn invisible unless subjected to a light source of a similar colour.
The M.E.G., for example, create Masked by mixing Almond Water to Papersap in the ratio 5:2- this creates a variant that has a desaturated colour with absolutely no odour, and also has the added side effect of conducting electricity. Other groups also use their own forms of Masked Ink, though, for secrecy, none of them disclose the "recipe". Another common mixture is Almond Water to Papersap in the ratio 3:1. This mixture, often called "BackInk" or "Backrooms Ink", acts more similarly to a regular black pen, with the only notable differences being the potent smell of dragonfruit and the fact that it can be seen in normal lighting conditions, but it masked in blacklight; it's properties are reversed, in a sense. For reference, the original "recipe" is equal parts Almond Water and Papersap.
The properties of Masked Ink means that it is a perfect way to mark down to mark down directions and/or notes on walls within a group colony, or just generally in a level, and not let entities or other groups also reading it.
"Almond Milk"
Almond Milk is one of the rare variant of Almond Water that can be found in even-numbered levels. It is packed in smooth, and round glass bottle containers similar of The Frontrooms' milk bottles. This liquid contains a subtly creamy consistency and has a cold aroma. When untainted, Almond Milk is highly nutritious: rich in calcium, protein, fat, and slow-burning energy, which makes it a valuable find for individuals in dire need of recovery. Its flavor is familiar, described by most individuals as a blend between traditional cow's milk and minty candy, which leaves a subtle coldness on the tongue.
Caution must be taken, however: if the bottle is plastered with stickers (such as: whimsical doodles, random labels, or unknown companies' logos) it is to be avoided at all costs. These variants with stickers are dangerous. Consumption causes nausea, strong drowsiness, a rapid drop in mental clarity, and sanity erosion. Continued consumption may cause grotesque physical swelling, hallucinations, or even death.
Interestingly, Almond Milk cannot be synthetically produced nor will it ever spoil, regardless of age or exposure. No known method has successfully changed its contents or traced its source, which leaves its nature and origin mysterious.
"Almond Dew"
Almond Dew, scientific name Aloe amygdalum rorificentia, is a distinct plant found primarily in Amygdalum rorificentia and Level 798. These plants on the exterior look almost identical to Aloe Vera, a common Frontrooms plant. However, this plant is in a constant state of producing dew, which contains roughly 15-20% distilled water and 85-80% Almond Water. The average Almond Dew plant produces roughly 65 75/128 gallons, or about 20 ounces per day. This plant is mostly farmed by the Backrooms Botanist Authority, although it frequently donates these plants to other organizations.
