Gearheads

'Entity Number: 999 'Habitats: Majority

Threat level: Class 4

A Gearhead sleeping and/or preparing to ambush

Description:

The Gearhead, or entity 999 is a large entity made up of wires, metal, generators and a old TV for a head. It has 2 arms and a tangle of wires, like a tail. It seemingly hides and waits for entities or wanderers to go by. You can tell when nearby one by listening for a rumble of a generator, the humming of static, or the screeching noise it makes. If it screeches that means it has heard and/or found you. It will blend in with the wall and sleep with its "head" sticking out of the wall. If you ever get to close it will begin to boot up and begin to attack, as you will have a 10 second grace period to run. Once you hear the jingle, its over. The entity will always stay dormant on shelfs or out in the open, almost like a Television, but much more hostile then normal. It also has been said that the Gearheads are by Television decent, with many similarities and properties the two entities seem to share, like the force field, variation of model, and completely docile behavior unless something specific happens between the entities, such as physical touch.

Behaviors:

The entity will wander around until it finds its prey, it will begin to chase when it finds any living entity or wanderer. Once it catches them it will rip it apart and shove it down a hole in their neck, "eating it". If you want to live to tell the tale people recommend using a friend, foe, or any living organism as bait, or if you are a little risky then try taming it. If it has a broken screen, RUN, as you are unable to tame the amalgamations. To tame a Gearhead simply stand your ground. If a Gearhead has locked eyes on you, it will not leave you alone, making running an ineffective get away method. Once you locked eyes with the entity, shine a light source at it. Nobody knows why this works.

They also aspect similar behaviors to their descendants, the Televisions, most primarily in the form of being docile until something specific to the entity happens, but instead of physical touch, its just passing the entity that triggers it. The entity can perceive a small amount of electricity from the wall it gained while it is hunting for the creature that just walked by the entity. This electrical charge is used for energy. Studies by an unknown group have determined that the entity is smarter then the average Partygoer, noticing small details about it's location, like objects around the entity, optimal routes to its victims just like the Server Box, and is capable of human speech in over 1927 dialects, including dead languages like Latin, and most aboriginal languages, like the ones of Canada and Australia before the U.K took those countries for themselves.

Despite its looks, it has a taste in music, in form of static. Nobody knows why, or how this is even possible, but the static emitted by the entity has been observed to "flow in a pattern", linking to many other songs that exist in reality. Undeniably, these audio frequencies have been said to hypnotize others either just for fun, or for survival. These songs, if recognized by an individual, has the increased effect of out right killing the target on sight. There is no scientific explanation for why this can occur. The odds can increase even when the individual loves, or hates that specific song genre. Mostly a static flow similar to 'rap' will be most often heard, due to this entities inability to search web browsers that also exist in reality, such as Google Chrome, Microsoft edge, and even Bing. They use this ability to research information about the real world, and learn more about humanity as a whole, much like a Server Box.

Biology:

The Gearheads have black cables covering their body which are connected to the main TV and the generators, they also seemingly have rebar arms which they use to move. There are multiple variants, the base "Gearhead", The Walkers, The Worm, and The Ghast. The Worm is exactly that, a worm like creature. It has a cracked screen that always displays a sentence about death and despair. The Worm also has no limbs, besides an extension cord that sparks at the tip of the entities body. It slithers like a snake, due to a slimy like substance that the entity dispatches while hunting. It has a jaw that is hinged to the side of the entity tight on one side, and lose on the other. The sticky substance secreted by the entities so called 'tail' is safe for consumption under certain conditions, such as high temperature, or below freezing, and has been to act as coolant. At this time The Worm variant of the Gearheads are still being researched, that is currently ongoing for now.

The Walkers, which are the only friendly ones unless provoked, seem to farm on electrical outlets to get generator fuel. They also generate the most heat as they age. This aging process is leaned directly into the metal their body is made out of cald Ghoulium. This metal is hand crafted when mixing Repolserum with a soft metal like gold or diamond. This metal is very easy to destroy, but in addition to the force field it has almost the same durability as a Partygoer. All forms of the Gearhead are built out of this metal, which has also been said to be a really good conductor of electricity at its finest. The metal has been said that overtime, will generate heat upon aging, which will apply for all 4 known variants. Their legs are smooth to the touch, but when angered, it will become bursting hot. Their arms are made out of many types of gears, used for defensive purposes, with each instance having a different gear pattern from another instance. The gears only grind when the entity has been provoked. The noise has been said to be really irritating to wanderers hearing such sounds, and even has the chance of deafening whoever has heard the noise last.

The Ghasts are the same in appearance as The Walkers. The major difference between these two variants is their method of killing. Ghasts often kill their prey by making them gain their trust, ultimately leading into ones demise. They can pull this off with relative ease, gaining trust of said victim within 3-10 hours of first meeting the entity. The entity will say that it is 'falling in love' with it's victim despite not having a gender. This love has ultimately been the entities thought process how it's going to kill it's victims, with the most brutal form of termination being explosions thus far. The entity, for the first 3 days will protect the wanderer from any incoming dangers, acting like it's the hero of many. It will later change to hiding in the shadows, not being in sight unless that wanderer is being attacked for 4 days more. The upcoming 9 days will have the entity go into hiding, planning it's attack to kill its wanderer of choice. After those 9 days are up, the entity will chase down it's prey, using artificial intelligence to its advantage. Unlike the Server Boxes, Gearheads of this variant will have to guess where their victim is at, which can take hours, months, days, or even years, with the longest recorded hunt so far being around 11 months.

There are more variants out there that haven't been discovered yet. They can be found anywhere so keep your guard up. The ordinary Gearhead is the most common out of them all, attacking whenever wanderers get remotely close to the entity. They have a humanoid appearance that doesn't have any special properties except for the head, and are well known for their stupidity as well as brutal force they can intake upon opposing wanderers.

Discovery:

The entity was discovered by a wanderer by the name of Jackie Thompson. He discovered the Gearhead on Level 803 while looking for firesalt, as he needed some for a new weapon he was crafting. He saw the entity and began to run, barely managing to escape. Currently, the variant the wanderer fell a-victim to is still being researched. The body was described to be cold, almost freezing even, but that is the only evidence they have to determine the entity variant. There was a note that read this:

"That thing was, ugh, terrifying. I don't know how smart this thing is, but if it is like artificial or something, I don't know I will probably be dead. If you are reading this however, thank you. I am currently dealing with a television arachnid hybrid. I don't know what this thing wants, but it surely isn't something I ain't giving it. Sick bastards trying to track me down again. What in the absolute shit hole have I came across? I don't know. I was just trying to document a level I 'discovered', as I am sure there are more people here then meets the eye. But seriously though, I am stuck, with THAT thing. It has a television for a head, like what kind of thing is that. It is very cold to the touch too, like, absolute 0. That's how cold we are talking. There is no way I am living another encounter with that thing, I am 100% sure. Oh, wait, SHI-"

What the wanderer stumbled into was a variant that is currently unknown as of right now. It has also been written in blood that the variant the wanderer was dealing with could hear other sounds he couldn't reading "I bestow upon your screams, just as those dewdrops from thousands of miles away hitting the floor".
