Glowfolk are a race of entities that wander the Backrooms.

Entity Hazard: Class Variable
》Entity Number: X
》Habitat: Native to Level -150, -150.1, and -151, but have been found across the Backrooms.

Description

Glowfolk, otherwise known as 'The Neon', appear to be androgynous humanoid entities that wander various levels of the Backrooms. They lack faces and are thus mute. However, they communicate with each other using sign language and can sometimes also be seen using voice boxes or translation apps to talk. Their skin is both impregnable and translucent, and their internal structure appears to be swirling fluorescent gases of various colors that dimly glows in the dark. The color of the gas inside their bodies corresponds to their personalities. Despite their bodied being completely featureless aside from the internal gases, they tend to wear clothes that they either scavenged from dead wanderers or bought. Every Glowfolk has been seen wearing visor-sunglasses matching their colors, and those who don't have a visor on usually seek one from the other Glowfolk. They are usually found in Level -150, Level -150.1, and Level -151, which appear to be their native levels. However, they have been spotted in other levels, usually wandering positive levels in groups. Despite appearances, they all seem to be connected to each other, despite being different colors and having different personalities. They are one of the few entities in the Backrooms to be on good terms with wanderers, as they are not hostile and are willing to trade with wanderers.

Variants

As stated before, depending on the color of the gas inside a Glowfolk's body, their behavior will be different. There are over 50 types of Glowfolk, but only around 20 have been documented.

Crimson

Crimson Glowfolk are athletic and strong. They love playing sports and exercising. They can often be seen doing cardio or friendly matches with other crimson Glowfolk and sometimes wanderers. They wear jerseys and sweatpants.

Red

Red Glowfolk always appear to be in a bad mood, yet they will not attack anyone unless they are attacked first. These specific Glowfolk always think before they act (except if they are attacked, in this case they will enter a state of rage) and also act as leaders, so they are usually seen lead groups of lost Glowfolk traveling the Backrooms. This type of Glowfolk is the only variant that will intentionally kill other entities.

Redston

Redston seems to be one of the leaders of the Red Glowfolk. He manages operations run by them and will not hesitate to "yell" at someone doing their job wrong until his voice box is busted and he has to get a new one.. Redston is friendly, but the most high tempered of all the other Glowfolk. He's the tallest and most intimidating of all the Red Glowfolk, and possibly the Glowfolk altogether. He always has a big red X embroidered in his clothing.

Vermilion

Vermilion Glowfolk act like the stereotypical definition of 'nerds'. They tend to read more books than normal and will always watch cartoons or movies when they get the chance. They are usually seen in groups of other Glowfolk of the same color. They also tend to wear merchandise that make references to pop culture.

Orange

Orange Glowfolk don't like close contact with wanderers and behave as though they are always annoyed. They usually spend their time sitting alone and rarely travel in groups. When in close proximity to a wanderer, they will move away from said wanderer. But if there is nowhere for one to go when close to a wanderer, this type of Glowfolk will 'bully' a wanderer in an attempt to get them to go away. Said 'bullying' is limited to mild actions such as pulling at the skin of the cheeks, yanking the wanderer's hair and giving them rug burns on their arms. It is advised not to go near a cornered orange specimen if you don't want to sustain these minor injuries.

Turmeric

Turmeric Glowfolk tend to be crafty. They are resourceful and are usually seen working with hardware tools. They run workshops and man cranes when they find them, fix hammers and sharpen saws, craft weapons and forge bullets, fold lanterns and seal origami. They also tend to wear vests and welder's masks to protect themselves from sawdust.

Yellow

Yellow Glowfolk are gentle beings that are always very calm and relaxed, and no matter what situation they are in, they never seem to feel extreme emotions. They're good with wanderers with social anxiety and are usually found in quiet levels or the more quiet areas of Level -150. They will wear anything they find comfortable.

Chartreuse

Chartreuse Glowfolk are gentle beings that obsess over things that they find to be cute and will defend that thing no matter the cost. This criteria for something that they find cute is very broad, but is limited to colorful objects or entities that are larger than a man's fist and smaller than a wanderer. As a result, they are known to obsess over and nuzzle up to short wanderers. They wear short limbed clothes (t-shirts, shorts, slippers, etc.), but have an affinity for pink clothes, as they find them cute.

Green

Green Glowfolk are very sociable and will often try to get wanderers to dance with them in Level -150. They wouldn't hurt a fly, but when attacked they will flee and bring back one of their red kin. When on other levels, they will offer wanderers food and Almond Water and will even disperse from their groups. As a result of this behavior, it is somewhat common to see green Glowfolk accompanying a group of wanderers.

Cyan

Cyan Glowfolk are hyperactive and adventurous things, but are usually the DJs of Level -150. They dislike violence and will typically run away from conflict and alert a red Glowfolk. They never think before they act, but they consider themselves the leaders of the groups of Glowfolk that wander the Backrooms, even though their red kin constantly have to correct them. They wear business or military clothing most of the time.

Brightstar

Brightstar is the self-proclaimed leader of the Cyan Glowfolk and he is extremely hyper and constantly needs help from Redston. His clothing always has glowing bright "stars" on it. He is very affectionate and will greet every wanderer that walks into Level -150 with great enthusiasm. He has a voice box, just like Redston, and he's almost always seen DJing with the other Cyan Glowfolk.

Teal

Teal Glowfolk are shy and oddly romantic. They are often seen flirting with other teal Glowfolk as well as other types of Glowfolk, usually in their rooms or in other secluded areas of levels. Some tests have shown that teal Glowfolk are also attracted to wanderers, and have been reported flirting with wanderers they fancy. They either wear revealing clothing or casual dating clothing. This kind of Glowfolk, unlike their fellows, can have feminine or masculine bodies.

Turquoise

Turquoise Glowfolk are often considered by wanderers to be the gamers of the Glowfolk as a whole. They will play board, card or video games when they feel bored and they host tournaments in their native habitats. These Glowfolk often talk in forums online when such things are available and some can even be seen in the hall of fame in the game's wall of fame for most wins. Turquoise Glowfolk also have been known to invent their own games if no games are available to them, but the resources are. This is most often seen in turquoise Glowfolk that are outside of Level -150. Some flip bottle caps instead of coins, or use stones to play go or backgammon-like games, while others engage in thumb wars, draw knots-and-crosses on the ground, or even use discarded cans for spin the bottle.

Sometimes, rules will appear evident to outsiders while other games seem to be bound by an order that cannot be immediately inferred or requires calculations which greatly exceed mental math. Games are generally performed in a consistent manner, however. For example, a coin-flipping game which consists of all pennies will play differently than a game which consists of four pennies and a dime. The largest groups of turquoise Glowfolk divide their games into two (or more) layers of the same game, encouraging wanderers and other Glowfolk gamble on the outcome of the game. Meanwhile, isolated turquoise Glowfolk play solitaire or other games that require one player, such as hopscotch. These loners develop the most elaborate games of all, with hundreds of tokens, fields, and notations being common among these particular games. Turquoise Glowfolk tend to wear jackets and sneakers.

Blue

Blue Glowfolk appear to be perpetually downtrodden, usually being seen with their 'faces' in their hands. Because of this, they are receptive to interactions that are aimed towards attempting to cheer them up and will follow wanderers that attempt this. They don't travel in groups and typically wear hoodies.

Purple

Purple Glowfolk appear to act like nobility among their kin, even though they don't have a leadership role in a group of wandering Glowfolk unless the leading red specimen is compromised for whatever reason. They are arrogant things that look down on others of their kin as well as wanderers, but they regard red Glowfolk as their superiors. They typically wear the fanciest clothes they can find or buy.

Lavender

Lavender Glowfolk tend to be artistic. They can often be found painting/drawing pictures of levels or entities, and can often be found doing art classes for wanderers in the Backrooms. They tend to wear colorful and abstract clothes, but some have been seen wearing clothes one might associate with drag queens.

Magenta

Magenta Glowfolk can best be described as the clingiest of the lot. They are very doting towards wanderers they fancy as well as other Glowfolk, doing their best to nurture whoever they fancy. They are also some of the most down-to-earth Glowfolk and will try their best to find a reasonable way out of a troubling situation.

Pink

Pink Glowfolk are one of the most mysterious of their kin because of their constantly changing personalities. They rarely, if ever, travel in groups and are rarely seen by wanderers because of it. As a result, very little is known about them. Some theorize that they have a little bit of every Glowfolk personality trait in them.

Bougainvillea

Bougainvillea Glowfolk are neat-freaks when it comes to some areas of their habitat. A large portion of them are seen tidying the clubs and doing other assortments of cleaning tasks, while also "chatting" with the Glowfolk they are working with. They also tend to run the bars of the club. They wear very basic white clothes and jeans.

White

White Glowfolk are the most outgoing of the glowfolk. They are the most adventurous and daring of their ilk and get along with other adventurers and daredevils alike. They can be seen wandering in the largest groups of glowfolk or wanderers.

Grey

Grey Glowfolk are described often as the 'class clowns' of the glowfolk. They often crack the most jokes out of a group and pull practical pranks like throwing pies in the faces of other glowfolk and placing whoopie cushions on chairs. They are almost never seen with others of the same color as them.

Black

Black Glowfolk are the "elders" of the glowfolk. They seem to know a lot about glowfolk history, hence the Red Glowfolk usually go to them for advice and wisdom. They are usually found sitting with the Yellow Glowfolk and, mysteriously, 100% of reports of wanderers attacking black glowfolk has resulted in the wanderer disappearing in mid air. There are rumors of those wanderers being sent to The Void.
