Welcome to the Backrooms

Hey there, wanderer. Seems you finally arrived? Ready to explore the dangerous liminal space of the Backrooms?

But be cautious, wanderer! There are many things that you need to know before you head out!

Understanding the Backrooms

The Backrooms as a whole is a massive community with many branches across the internet. Generally, we're known as the "Fandom" of the Backrooms, and our strength is our freedom. That doesn't meant that we could do anything as we please, as there are many things to keep in mind. Other than our general Wiki Rules that are listed on its page, every newcomers should also read our Entity Format before they add their own idea, then Level Format if they wish to create a level, and there's also Survival Difficulty Guide as the cherry at the top. There's also the Wikitext Guide for advanced users who wish to learn some codes, which is useful to spice up your pages.

However, you must learn more about the Backrooms before you jump into the fray! The Backrooms as a whole is a mystery, but even amidst the surreal nonsense, it's still important to mind what you write. After all, you're here both as a writer and a reader. You need to think on how to make a good content, and we got you covered! First of all, make sure to check the Basics of the Backrooms to fully cement your knowledge. Now then, you need to mind about what is canon and not canon, so head down to the List of Canons to deepen your understanding. Now you understand that everyone has their own interpretation, which is where the List of Personal Canons kicks in. At this point, you're beginning to aware the status of the Fandom, that indeed, there are so many different portrayals with their own unique stories. You'll understand that good writing rise above others, especially when there are thousands upon thousands of mediocre pages, where many are not so noteworthy.

Recently, there are influx of new users, and new trends are rising quickly. Things that was good are turned horrible, such as the overused joke of Partygoers being suspicious, the poorly-made Class Deadzone levels that are not qualified as Deadzones, the "rooms" trend (a twist of the Backrooms, such as the Frontrooms) that often ended up becoming ordinary levels, also the fact that many users create their own canons after the Crimsonverse joined the chat, and how many newcomers try to create their own godlike entities, which very rarely ever turned out well. These are some of the most common pitfall on what makes a page turned bad, and at best, are mediocre. It's always important to make sure that your contents are original and interesting, as it's important to mind your identity, on what makes you and your content unique. What makes a good story? How to be a good writer? Well, there's no cookie-cutter answer to that. Each persons are different, with their own styles and preferences. Everyone have their own skills to train and talents to showcase, so what important is learning what truly works for you. Once you figure it out, then all you need to do is to keep working hard until you become an exceptional content creator!

There are some more things to consider, and it's about the state of the wiki itself. Ever since the anarchy of 2021 where our beloved home is in chaos, we do our best to improve the wiki and to uphold our standard of quality, which is the reason on why we're getting selective. The strictness might turn off some, but better be than let ourselves devolve again. Because of this, then please understand that our moderators need to enforce rules for the better good. This includes our duties to read, review, edit and delete pages across the wiki, in order to improve ourselves and to filter all the poorly-made content. Same case applied to the forum where we discuss among others, as there are more rules to keep in mind than what written on the basics. Other than the importance of making original content and writing them properly, everyone should also be civilized and respectful of each other. Our moderator team are doing our best to maintain the quality of the wiki as a whole, and we hope that each users are also giving their best to contribute to the community.

We wish you luck in braving the Backrooms, and never hesitate to ask for help in time of need!

Do's and Don'ts

Do

  • Give your best to create good, even great contents.
  • Try to find something that makes you unique, even distinguished.
  • Practice your writing! Practice makes perfect!
  • Be patience, because no one is perfect, and it takes time to improve.
  • Share your creations, and be open on discussions.
  • Review and critique each others in order to help each other.
  • Report and stop any drama, harassment, abuse and other negative behaviors.
  • Build a healthy relationship with the community. A good message can go a long way.
  • Always be respectful, and try to be civilized in the community.

Don't

  • Publish bad, terrible, poorly-made contents.
  • Copy or plagiarize other content creators.
  • Be disrespectful, especially in derogatory means.
  • Annoys and irritate others with childish behavior.
  • Antagonize the mods, as they simply do their job.
  • Start drama, or any other toxic behaviors on the community.
  • Vandalize any pages. It will result an immediate consequence.
  • Shove your own stuff to the page of others without respecting the author. Although the wiki is open for everyone, please understand that any good content creators are doing their best for their works. So if possible, discuss your ideas with them in a respectable, civilized manner.

Before you go, another reminder: Do not create badly-written pages. This rule apply to any pages here, from entities, levels, tales and more. If you wish to create a Deadzone level, make sure it's a Deadzone, and not just Level 5 with extra edge. If you wish to follow the "rooms" trend, then make sure it's a whole unique dimension, and not just an ordinary level, or cluster of random levels. If you wish to create your own canon, make sure that you know how to write a good story, because this kind of thing is best reserved for experienced authors. If you wish to create godly entities, then make sure that they're not just self-insert OC that act like an almighty, unstoppable, perfect being, who apparently also created the Backrooms. We already have many attempts at them, and that's why we're very strict of them.

You can write them, but please, put some effort in being unique and original. Find your own identity, before you follow a trend and ended up creating something that are not interesting. That's why you should read the content of others, then discuss with others, so you can make sure that your content is good. Again, this is the important on building a supportive, welcoming community for all the content creators, including for you and us.

That's all for our guideline, and good luck on your endeavor!
