Do you think you are worthy to look upon me?

Yes... Yes you are.

Well then, wanderer, share me your stories...

I shall claim the crown...

Hubris

Description

Hubris, also known as The Crownless King, is an immortal enigmatic entity that enjoys tales that end in despair and sorrow. He spends most of his time in level The Forgotten Throne, watching over his domain. It is known that he loves to recite quotes that he learned from wanderers. When wanderers stumble upon his throne, he asks them for a quote or two before exchanging stories with them.

Currently, Hubris is roamꪮꪑ ᥲɾꪮᥙᥒd thꫀ Ᏼꪮꪮꪑɾꪮꪮꪑ᥉...

Ah, there's no need to look at that. Some secrets are better left unknown, right?

I'll let you talk about me, but don't go and cross any lines now.

Behaviors

It is unknown whether Hubris is hostile towards wanderers, but it is advised to avoid having a loꪮꪑ ꪮꪑveꪮꪑtions ꪮꪑꪮꪑ

Now, now. I think I at least have the right to talk about myself. Think about it, I get to talk, you have less to write. Two birds for one stone eh?

I think of myself to be on the rather peaceful side of the entities. I don't outright murder those who enter my level. It's quite the opposite really. I welcome them, allow then to take some time to rest, sharing a story or two with them before they go continue their exciting adventures.

The tales that mortals recite fill me with excitement! And the best part? The end of course! I always ponder as to how they end, whether if it will be from the hands of a skin-stealer, or being crushed under the heel by a hound. So many options and but so little stories...

Biology

Hubris takes the appearance of a human. Hubris has jet black hair and sharp orange eyes that seem to gleam in the dark. It is unknown if that is his true form, but there have been no other reports of Hubris's appearance. Just like any other human, Hubris tends to change clothes on the daily, preferring tattered royalty clothes when relaxing in his level, and more comfortable ones when outside of his level.

Discovery

Aren't you bored of writing in the same format again and again and again? The M.E.G have no sense of finesse. Here, I'll show you what the readers want. Angelina, could you please write the rest for me?

Oh, me? Of course Your Majesty! Any question will be okay?

Favorite Quotes

Yes, yes. That's the right stuff to ask! Well then, which are my favorite huh? Well, I guess these would have to be my favorite.

・No pain, no gain.

・The pen is mightier than the sword.

・Life is never fair, and perhaps it is a good thing for most of us that it is not.

・May you live all the days of your life.

All of these are quotes I have heard mortals boldly tell me with complete certainty. Too bad each one of them suffered a spectacular death.

Favorite Guest

Ah, this is easy. Her name was Alice Morningstar. A very intriguing individual she was. Always asking questions, collecting as much information as she could when we chatted. Her motives seemed a little strange for a human, but it doesn't change how I think about her. I would love to see how her story ends. Perhaps she can even be... Ah, never mind.

Motive

Well to read a lot of despair inducing stories of course! Why else will I tolerate the existence of those mortals? Ah, yes I know, Humble will try to stop me and all that. Don't worry, my little brother doesn't have anything against me. I won't be losing my throne anytime soon.

Your Throne

Ah, yes. My throne. A peculiar name indeed, but The Queen named it, so I guess I have no choice but to keep it. No one, and I mean no one, wants to mess with her. Well, her reign will end someday. Maybe sooner than later... Anyway, about the throne. It's comfy, I can give you that. It does make you feel powerfu- Oh! I just remembered an amusing guest I once had.

One time, a male wanderer no-clipped into my level on accident. At the time, I wasn't there, so I was quite surprised to find a mortal sitting on my throne, enjoying the feeling of power.

I let him stay there for awhile. In a few minutes, he completely felt like he was the king of the world! It was so absurd, that I had to intervene. He tried to boss me around, but in a few moments his illusion shattered, leaving him cowering in fear. Quite the turn I bet. I never saw him after that. He didn't even bother to write a journal of his experience of the Backrooms. Very rude.

Favorite Picture

Another easy question.

Greg and a wanderer.jpg

Yes, good 'ol picture of Greg. I love this picture because it shows the despair one feels when something so powerful suddenly appears. Beautiful.

Favorite Story

Hm, I guess that will have to be the memoir of Page Keimer. It quite ironic that he works for me n-

Your Majesty! It seems as there has been another escape to the Frontrooms from The Underpass.

Ugh. Humble with his Angels. How much times do I have to tell them that those mortals are for my entertainment? Angelina, go alert Page to deal with it.

Well then, brother. This is the game you want to play? You're walking on dangerous ground here, but I couldn't care less. Sure, lets play your game.

He's finally gone

Hello? hello? Can anyone see this? Hm, I don't have much time either way. Let me just say, don't trust Hubris. There's a reason why he's classified as an enigmatic entity. Oh, I forgot to introduce myself.

My name is Page Keimer. I'm the former second-in-command of the Informants, who are led by Alice. Yes, I know, I should be serving Hubris. Will I though? Of course not. He forced me to become his servant, making me do his bidding. But not anymore. Now, I side with Humble, and I suggest that you do too. It's either that, or Hubris. 𝕺𝖗 𝖙𝖍𝖊 𝖖𝖚𝖊𝖊𝖓. Damn it, there's not enough time. Here, read this, it's the original text the M.E.G wrote about Hubris. Make your choice after you read this.

The Usurper

Class 7 entity

Hubris, also known as The Usurper, is an immortal enigmatic entity that enjoys tales that end in despair and sorrow. He spends most of his time in level The Forgotten Throne, watching over his domain. It is known that he loves to recite quotes that he learned from wanderers. When wanderers stumble upon his throne, he asks them for a quote or two before exchanging stories with them.

Hubris is currently roaming around the Backrooms, sharing and listening to stories from wanderers and entities. Those who tell their stories to Hubris will start to feel the need to boast about their achievements, ultimately making giving them the illusion that the lies they spat out were real.

This gives the wanderers hubris, and most of the time, this will make their lives end in horrific, despairing ways.

Hubris has taken the throne from his father, and is trying to take full control of The Underrealm. The only reason he hasn't fully taken control yet, is because of his brother, Humble. The rivalry runs deep between the two, for they have different opinions as to how to treat mortals. The entire realm is in utter chaos, being split into two sides.

Hubris's side

This side mainly consists of entities, favoring Hubris to be their new king. Most are hostile towards wanderers, but Hubris bans them from killing wanderers unless the time is "ripe". It is because of Hubris that the realm hasn't already shattered, causing chaos, ultimately leading to the demise of the Backrooms. This is one of the many reasons why there are humans who side with him too, whether willingly or forcefully, it's either serve him, or die from the realm breaking.

Humble's side

This side heavily consists humans, but sometimes also friendly entities within their ranks. They try to save wanderers, but still can't rise in power due to relying on Hubris's rules to be able to keep the realm from collapsing into utter chaos.

The Queen's side

... ??? !!!

The queen is always watching...

Well then, you don't have much time. Hurry up, pick a side...
