Survival Guide

Inconclusive studies of the virus have not allowed for an official survival guide to be completed. Once the infection is detected, there is no remedy, although the effects of the disease can be alleviated by medicines. The two main signs of a contamination are fever and headaches. Infrequently, red patches of skin can also be seen. Antiviral medicine may help in some cases.

Description

The Hydrolitis Plague, also referred to as just Hydrolitis, is a bacterium currently located on water-related levels. The disease, as previously mentioned, lurks around untreated bodies of water, but it appears more inside abandoned pools. It can appear due to multiple environmental factors, mostly due to insects' fecal particles and, in the case of the pools, augmented by the lack of chlorine.

Hydrolitis Plague is mainly transmitted by airborne particles containing the bacterium. Infected people can exhale those through common activities, and another person can get infected when physically close. The smaller droplets can remain on the air of a certain area for longer periods of time when compared to larger droplets, that mostly drop to the ground. Rarely, one could be contaminated by direct contact in bodies of water that had contact with contaminated mosquito larvae.

While the bacterium hasn't registered any cases of mutation, the symptoms may differ from one person to another. The more common ones are:

  • High fevers with chills;
  • Weakness;
  • Pain, specifically in the abdomen area;
  • Vomiting;
  • Delirium, and others.

The infectivity can happen for a week before the symptoms show up. Infected people can spread the bacterium even if asymptomatic. After the first detected symptoms, there are three stages that can occur:

Stage 1

This occurs after approximately 4 hours from the first symptoms, and ends after approximately two days. Apart from the ones already mentioned, one can experience loss of taste and smell, discoloration of skin, shortness of breath, confusion, and irritated eyes. The patient can also have hallucinations, that are often associated either with Backrooms or Frontrooms elements.

Stage 2

After two days, due to the vomiting, one can be heavily dehydrated if the disease isn't treated properly. Breathing could be a very difficult task, episodes of internal bleeding can happen, delirium can be very strong, and cells in living tissue start to die. In this stage, the bacterium can attack different parts of the body of the sick person, such as the brain, lungs, limbs, kidneys, and the liver.

Stage 3

The most severe of the three stages. Even more cells in the tissue start to die, resulting in a very quick case of necrosis. Internal bleeding may get more intense, happening in multiple organs. From point this on, nothing can save the victim. All one can do when this happens is to pray for a swift and painless death. Blood clots start to form around the veins and arteries of the infected, resulting in thrombosis, that has the possibility to evolve into heart diseases. In extreme cases, the Hydrolitis Plague can lead to death.

Quarantine Process

The infected patient, when treated in an adequate place, is put into an intensive care unit, with optional mechanical ventilation to support breathing. The ones assigned to care of the ill person use specialized quarantine equipment to treat them. As the absolute majority of levels do not contain the proper area do to so, most patients are put into improvised spaces, where they rest until they wait for their fate.

Treatment

Although the most severe symptoms of the Hydrolitis Plague are very severe, not all patients do not reach further stages. As of now, the documented survival rate of the disease is around 16%. As soon as one or more symptoms are detected in a person, they need to be quarantined quickly to not contaminate other explorers. They also necessitate to be hydrated with all times, with any kind of potable water. The ones contaminated require a lot of rest.

The immune system may also be weaker during these times, so medication may be used to treat the infection. The ones who survive do develop immunity to the bacterium.
