We're here... Sector Chimera or everyone calls it the "Landfill." Can't believe it's grown that big after we dealt with the First Cataclysm ever since some of ours discover this. Right, let's get down to business.

Incursion Intro 3

That "event" almost got us all killed by surprise while we were all on our last legs after we ended the First Cataclysm. The worse is that our comms networks are completely blackout all across the Borders from region down to sub-sector, even when our techs did fix ours and hail to the others' end... no one's there - it's all static or just silent.

We're on our own now but don't think we're the only one who's left of us... I'm sure some of them have made it out okay somewhere... I hope.

You know why we came here in the first place? I'll show you.

Incursion Intro 4

One of our scanners told me that they'd been picking up encrypted messages through one of the old probes and the one who sends these probes is the IAM, don't know how it got there but we got its lead somewhere right... there then it trailed off, it has been moving ever since but not so sure where it going or how it is able to move on its own likely it's either somebody helping or someone who grabbed it but don't know who that is.

It's a pretty big place to pinpoint and we don't have time or enough manpower to find that IAM - might as well be finding a needle in a haystack. But I have a hunch that it's important if we get there and nab it back, maybe it could get some answers to what happened inside there.

Incursion Intro 5

They also picked some Golden Particles and that could mean there's some Terminus lying around somewhere. Could be useful to find some of their Echoes or Codices to find some answers and maybe we could use their old techs and help ourselves out. I doubt these are only of these and maybe there's more if we close enough...

And they have detected foreign signature in there which it could mean some beings have made their own home so we better be ready just in case some of us venture in the Terminus... Maybe we could find the others if they're alive and kicking, we could use some of their help and deal with this mess.

Incursion Intro 6

And then there's the bad news, they picking up unidentified signatures coming from at the corner of this reality's border so it's either one of the other Outsiders, or god forbid the Sleepers are here in the Landfill and took the liberty of starting their own territories.

If this is the case, we're going to prepare just in case of any Outsiders trying to get in the way of our business but we have to be careful and not start a huge fight... looks like that place is about to fall apart. Having more Outsiders join in the garbage world and run amok is the last thing we want.

Anyway, our game plan is simple:

Incursion Intro 7

While our ship is parked outside of its Border, first, we're gonna have to establish a forward outpost somewhere right... here, sitting near the outer edge of this sector and the guys in the empty sky will be keeping tabs on our movements while we're doing the heavy work on the ground.

Form a perimeter, scout it out in this place, and expect to deal with some locals especially Alpha-Class with Type-III anomalies but I'm sure all of us can deal with them just fine but... the biggest problem is with the Sleepers. If we ever face them, let's do ourselves a favor and put them to rest... They deserve better.

/// Entering Liminal Space. Please fasten your belts... █

That's all you need but I'll let you know if any interesting happens. Now buckle up and be ready for the touchdown.

We're going in.

Incursion BG

Canon Title Cyan

Backrooms is a messy place where many wanderers are unfortunately no-clipped. For them, dealing with anomalies, entities, and levels is a daily struggle.

What if something worse happened than those who live in the Backrooms?

This is my personal sci-fi themed canon, it focuses on action and exploration.

As I'm currently writing this, here is my canon's lore and history, outside of the Backrooms:

[ Information ]

The First Cataclysm

There once an outbreak that leads to an unprecedented event that threatens a multitude outside borders of realities getting destroyed by the thing. It doesn't have a name nor it doesn't need one but everyone called it the First Cataclysm and it leaves a huge mark on every reality's history.

The War

It didn't help much as many of them tried to fight it off but failed and they all turned into those things spreading it further into other borders of realities, allowing it to easily roll through them.

But that was a long time ago, and the thing was stopped by this group that was dedicated to ending the threat, but it resulted in a war of enormous levels of destruction, an awful price to pay.

The Chimera

Outsiders call it Chimera, Landfill, or the Dump. Most of them avoid it due the unstable nature of the Backrooms but there are few others who are inside of this dimension for their own reasons. The Backrooms used to be a normal dimension but there are other factors, other than the First Cataclysm, that caused it to transform into a messy liminal space.

The Chimera

As time passed, it steadily grew in size, these came from fragmented pieces of foreign realities, which those are the Levels that the wanderers and entities are familiar with, have gravitated toward it while barely hanging on a fine thread as if always on the verge of collapse.

With the fragments coming in contact into others will create anomalies from weird to outright dangerous, it's because of the incompatibility to each other as every fragments has their sets of rules came.

Outsiders

They are beings that can travel far and beyond. They are Outsiders, beings who can "cross" from their borders of their home dimensions but whatever they are, wanderers still considered them as entities, though it's hard to say whether they are one. Typically, most of them can be technologically advanced alien races, powerful reality benders, or wandering creatures but it should be noted they're all dangerous on their own unless they're friendly. Their methods of getting in and out of realities are varied.

They are walking anomalies due to their incompatibilty, because the interaction of their presence within an alien and uncharted dimension create an unusual effect which mostly detrimental on both sides or dangerous but they are some exception to some of the successful ones that aren't only thrive on a dimension but exploit it.

Groups

Ranging from small band of Outsiders like nomads, pirates, to large ones such as empires, megacorporations, and syndicates, and more.

For now, I only focus of these Outsiders. The ones who once fought a threat of unprecedented levels, which resulted in a perpetual war against them but that caused astronomic amount of casualties and destruction whenever the First Cataclysm occurred from one dimension to the next. As a result, they were forced to act, which condemned those who lived in that reality to prevent infection.

After some time, terrible event has occured and this group has split into two opposing groups; one still upholds order and the other has gone rogue.

And these are the two opposing factions:

And these are the two opposing factions:

  • Marauders
  • Travelers
Faction Marauders a
Incursion BG Marauder

Unrelenting and cold. The faction that turned rogue that is known for destroying one border after another and carrying out this senseless violence across countless worlds. Backrooms is merely another speck that is to be destroyed.

They are an army of cold-blooded killers who never will be taken lightly regardless of who or what they are, and if they are not careful, they have been known to break their enemies' spirits or kill them unceremoniously.

They are the enemies of Travelers and they have been at each others' throats for many years since then and despite the Travelers possesses powerful cosmic powers they are more than enough to be formidable enemies.

They are called the Sleepers by other Outsiders. And those who tried against them will be crushed or they will meet their worst fate for them.

[ ... ]

They were once called as the Soldiers, a lowly race of blank copies. They endured years of struggle then later becoming a powerful organization of researchers and peacekeepers.

They aren't really like this, in reality, they've been forced into servitude and are being used as unwilling pawns by powerful forces behind the scenes. They were supposed looking out for a potential Second Cataclysm, and in an ironic and tragic twist, they are the ones who became the next threat.

But they're a stubborn race and one of them will eventually start to rebel against their oppressors and get their comeuppance. Soldiers are not to be taken lightly.

Faction Travelers a
Incursion BG Traveler

Ethereal and Opulent. A group of cosmic beings, they wore elaborate suits of armor and they were the other factions who still remained to maintain order. They are recognized for their remarkable elegance that matched both their god-like abilities and the powerful pieces of their technologies.

Their looks may be beautiful, but don't be fooled as they are skilled fighters and veterans of the old war. When they fight, they fight with a level of grace that they kill their enemies as if they were dancing, which is especially true when they use powers that have the power to shake the very realities.

Despite their powerful reality-bending abilities, they are still no match for the Marauders' ruthlessness, let alone their numbers.

[ ... ]

They are originally unnamed ancient Outsiders, even considered them as the first Outsiders, who created the ancient Palace and Artifacts. They are known for traveling different realities and prospering countless civilizations in the hopes of crossing borders like them. Despite being all cosmic and powerful, they're actually a bunch of naïve people, which is their biggest flaw.

Sadly, the First Cataclysm made them extinct, at least initially, but somehow the Soldiers had managed to bring them back to life in some long-forgotten Palace. They wanted to help their cause since it aligned with their own and they owed them a lot.

The Soldiers were the ones who trained them. And with that, they turned the tide of battle, and the two Outsiders became inseparable.

They assumed the role of the Soldiers after the unfortunate events of them splitting into two factions and having a hard time dealing with them as they had to kill their own allies.

These Travelers that they knew are made up of only a small portion of the survivors, who are only just now starting to recuperate their losses.

And maybe I'm going to add more Outsiders and the groups in the future but for now there are only two of them.

[ Characters ]

Characters I made for these stories. More will come as it progresses.

Gary Open Close
Gary Open Close

/ / / G45-271 12R/Y (Gary)

Gary, an intelligent and small sentient AI, was discovered by scavengers who were about to auction it off in their community before it was safely secured in one of the MEG agents' bases. Gary will assist the MEG out of gratitude for its incredible intelligence and advanced design despite its apparent small size, but it wasn't long before a Marauder stole it.

Although many would assume that this object is artificial intelligence (AI), it actually has a gentle soul beneath its cold metallic exterior. Even for a machine, it felt a great burden when the enigmatic figure assigned Gary a risky task in order to save everyone.

Seven Closed
Seven Opened

/ / / Seven

A Marauder, who is now free from its control but suffers memory loss from the shock it receives intervened by a machine before he meets his gruesome end. He may have forgotten who and what he is but his flair as a former Soldier still remains so does his personality.

Because he has the IAM and a defective unit, he has become a prime target for the Marauders. He used to be a soulless killer, but now he's the machine's personal guard, and he'll use all of his skills to get it to its destination in the hopes that it'll find some answers—and maybe even redemption or closure for himself.

Unknown Sender Open Close
Unknown Sender Open Close

/ / / Unknown Sender

A mysterious figure who made contact with Gary and gave him a specialized program that could free the Marauders' control, though doing so may endanger their lives, they are confident because Gary played a role in developing the program. As of now, the stranger will expect to meet Gary and be escorted to that place.

Their motivation appears to be aligned with Gary's, but who this stranger knows about it and the Marauders remains a mystery, though the IAM believes their intentions are good.

[ Levels ]

Currently, there are only few levels I made and those in the takes I made that the characters are in are not included because the story took place in an uncharted place in the Backrooms, so I only make levels when necessary.

Hallowed Gate

The Terminus

The Terminus

The enigmatic level, known for storing abundant of treasures and the rare sought-after Golden Artifacts. In actually, these were long-forgotten megastructure built by the Predecessors, multiple of them to be exact, with each of them serving a specific purpose.

Several of these ancient structures can be found throughout the Backrooms, but the majority of them have been abandoned, are in ruins, or have been claimed by other beings.

Malicious Broadcast Distort

Anti-Fermian Installation

Malicious Broadcasts

A weaponized level razed and repurposed by the Marauders. These radio-like towers are designed to kill any unsuspecting victims' consciousness and then turn them into empty, moving husks. The Signals propagate through destroying any form of electronic devices and radios.

It's made worse by the fact that more than one of these things exists elsewhere. Its terrifying voices are constantly transmitted, amassing walking husks and intensifying signals as time passes.

[ Objects ]

There are currently two objects: one from the Outside and one from the ancient treasures of the old. More will come as of making this.

/ / / Intelligence Apparatus Modular (IAM) System

An extremely advanced type of AI was created by Soldiers to aid their creators during the old war.

It might be that they are scattered throughout the Backrooms, with Gary appearing to be the only one who crash-landed here in the Backrooms, the others' whereabouts are either hidden and remain deactivated in due time, or taken away by the Marauders.

/ / / The Golden Artifacts

Immaculate and coveted treasures are rarely found within the empty Gates. It is believed that these objects will significantly benefit the users, while some may grant them incredible powers.

In reality, these remarkable pieces of works are actual sets of tools, though these gilded tools are powerful enough to alter or create realities.

These are made possible by the Travelers demonstrating how advanced these beings are and how capable they are of doing so.
