Description[]
Lamp-Reys are a entity that closely resemble Petromyzon marinus or Sea Lampreys from the Frontrooms. The key defining distinction between the two is that Lamp-Reys possess an immensely colossal halogen bulb where the sharp rows of teeth would conventionally be. Thoroughly docile unless elicited, the Lamp-Rey shines it's blinding bulb through levels with murky depths. It is entirely aquatic and can only last up to a minute above the surface. When threatened this entity will shine it's visually impairing light into the eyes of the aggressor and will hastily flee at up to 40mph. They have a diminutive electric organ akin to that of an electric eel that is located next to their pharynx. It provides immensely colossal doses of electricity to the by bulb, thus powering it. The Lamp-Rey, however, cannot utilize this electricity organ against foes due to it being exclusively fixed to the entities' head.
Many groups harvest these entities, extracting the bulbs from the carcasses. However this is highly discouraged as not only are the entities hard to catch but the extracted bulbs can cause a variety of electrical hazards.
Biology[]
Just like Sea Lampreys, Lamp-Reys posses 7 external gills, however the entity also emits a dull glow from these gills. This is due to the positioning of the electrical organ within the entities' head. They have relatively poor eyesight that is believed to be an adaptation of the low visibility environments they reside in. Tests have shown that Lamp-Reys have an extremely strong immune system that protects them from the Hydrolitis Plague, a deadly bacteria that inhabits the same habitats as this entity. Unlike their Frontrooms counterpart, Lamp-Reys have no predatory instinct and seem to absorb microscopic prey through pores that cover their body. They are born as larvae called "Lamplets" and possess a bulb that is much more rounded like a pygmy lamp and emits more of a drab flickering light. As the Lamp-Rey ages this pygmy lamp slowly shapes into the halogen bulb. It is in the adolescence phase that the electricity organ grows and produces more electricity for the bulb.
Discovery[]
The Lamp-Reys are an elusive entity species as they require very specific environments, that being large bodies of murky water. They were first reported on 23rd April 2020 by a wanderer on Level 49. They claimed to have seen a toddler sized eel lighting up the "disgusting water" with an unidentified beam of light. Several other reports came in with the same description.
