Level ! is one of the most dangerous oddball levels in the Backrooms and one of the most entity-infested Levels.

Description

Level ! consists of a long hallway, approximately two kilometers in length, with architecture resembling a hospital. Flashing red lights are present at even intervals along the hallway, along with an audible emergency alarm noise. At random intervals, doors are present along the hallway, but all have been locked thus far.

Upon entry, one will immediately notice a horde of entities (Hounds, Skin-Stealers, Facelings, etc.) heading directly for them, a long distance down the hallway. The apparent "objective" is to escape the level as fast as one possibly can before it's too late. The only way one can escape is by running to the end of the two kilometer-long hallway. One must run non-stop, avoiding various obstacles along the hallway, such as hospital beds, chairs, and even Clumps blocking the way. Along the hallway, there are various items that can be consumed to keep one running, such as energy bars and bottles of Almond Water. If one manages to run past the two kilometer mark, they will come upon an exit door at the end of the hallway. Entering it will lead to a random level, with the Backrooms never sending them back here again. If the horde of entities catches them, however, the victim will be killed in a very painful and gruesome way.

Log: Discovery Of Level !

Operative Noah was in Level 2 on his way back to a colony called "The Survivors", trying to deliver valuable information about The Followers Of Jerry, when he anomalously appeared in Level !.

[8:26 AM] Noah: I did what you ordered. I've got everything about Jerry's followers, along with their secrets. I actually almost got caught when doing so.

Base: Alright, good work. Get back to base as fast as possible. Entities are quite common near Jerry's Room.

Noah: Yeah, I think I can make it in about 4 or 5 hours. Wait- that wall definitely was not there. It... seems as if I've reached a dead-end.

Base: Remain calm, there must be a way around it. There is a pause in the audio.

Base: Hello? Do you copy? Where the hell are you?

Noah: It... appears that I've noclipped into another level. This is very different from the other levels that I know, though.

Base: Please describe what you see.

Noah: It's a hallway, but it's... strangely distorted. There are lights flashing bright red, and some alarm noise won't stop blaring! I just tried opening some doors in the hallway, but they all seem to be locked.

Base: Noted. Please proceed down the hallway until you find an exit.

Noah: Holy- I hear footsteps behind me; there must be hundreds of them.

Base: Remain calm. We are sending in some of our people to investigate this. They are on their way to your location through Level 2.

Heavy breathing is audible.

Noah: I REALLY NEED SOME HELP! THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF ENTITIES BEHIND ME! I- I'm running through the corridor, but I don't know how long this goes!

Noah: Hello? Base! Shit, I lost the signal; I'm on my own now... OH NO, THE ENTITIES ARE CATCHING UP! THEY'RE ALMOST 20 METERS AWAY! There is a pause in the audio for around an hour, and nothing but heavy breathing and footsteps are audible.

[10:39 AM] Noah: Oh God, how long have I been running? The entities are getting closer! Oh! I- I think I see an exit sign!

More hyperventilating is heard.

Noah: OH, COME ON! I'M METERS AWAY FROM IT!

[END LOG]

The operatives arrived at Noah's location soon after. Only his uniform was found, soaked in a pool of blood.

You have to go further. Do not give in now.

Colonies and Outposts

Due to the nature of Level !, creating a colony or outpost is infeasible.

Entrances and Exits

Entrances

  • One can enter this level through any level of the Backrooms when least expected.
  • Very rarely, going through faulty elevators can lead here.
  • One may enter this level by noclipping under a table in Level 521 (specifically in the 521-A section) that has "!" written on it.
  • Attacking an outpost on Level 0▣
  • If you are spotted with a gun in level 340, you will be transported to this level.
  • Wandering in Level 354 provides a guaranteed gateway into this level when a certain thought arises…
  • Touching a Christmas decoration in Level 655 will transport you to this level.
  • You can enter by falling asleep on the benches on Level -4532, you have a 30% chance to teleport here
  • If you die before a year has passed in Level 365, you will be sent here.
  • Find an elevator on Level -26
  • Enter metal trapdoor in Level 69FN
  • Enter a red door with a red exit sign in Level 160
  • There's a 50% chance no-clipping through a big red piece of paper from the walls in Level 944 will take you here.
  • It has been found out that turning around in Level 1007 will bring you here.
  • This entrance was discovered recently, but you can enter by going in "Out of Bound" areas from Level 357.
  • Killing a Savinpiny in level -535643 leads you here
  • Kill yourself in Level 7191 while you surpassed the 100 Kilometers and reached Night time to be brought here.

Exits

  • To exit, one must run 2 kilometers to the end of the level, where they will be transported back to the level from which they entered, or Level 0.! if unlucky enough.
  • Instead, going into the direction of the entities and eventually surpassing 2 kilometers will lead to The Void. Do not attempt this.
  • Dying at this level has a 0.004% chance to lead to Level Rush.
  • Noclip through a door to enter Level 832.
  • Noclip through the ground to reach Level 52, This is extremely difficult.
  • Find a lightened room with a door on it to enter Level Maker.
  • You can enter Level !.1 by touching/grabbing an airplane figurine off one of the random tables during your run.
  • No-clipping can rarely bring you to Level 202
  • Jumping on a chair and noclipping through the ceiling has an 87 percent chance of bringing you to level 621
  • There's a chance that if you noclip through one of the doors to the side you can end up on The End (From random wanderer)
  • Falling asleep on this level will bring you to Level 139
  • Entering any vent gives a very tiny chance to arrive in the Maze of Vents
  • If you run 5 miles turn right and run into the wall it will take you to The Midrooms
  • Banging your head on the exit sign will bring you to Level 441.
  • Rarely you might find 2 unlocked perfectly aligned doors on the sides of the corridor, enter one of the two doors to go to Level 7191.
