Discovery(s)

Photograph of Aliza Porter, Circa 1886

Level ¥ was discovered in 1838 by a Georgian explorer named Aliza Porter. The myth goes; she was chatting with some explorers about their travels, where she brings up level ¥. She describes it as a haven without entities. They didn’t believe her, and ask her to show them. She does, and they set up a village known as Williamsburg. Of the explorers that didn’t go with Aliza, they spread the story. By 1900, it became a legend.

“Discovery” by M.E.G

On May 18th, 1953, 200 M.E.G explorers rediscovered the lost level for the rest of the Backrooms to know about. The set up M.E.G base I. Later, in 1963, they set up another base called M.E.G base II. The first settlers were found in 1980. The people of Arialon were still using crude materials, but had more man-power. The M.E.G explorers called for the shipment of people and weapons to remove the settlers and keep the level for themselves. This action started the Same-race war of the Backrooms.

Same-race War of the Backrooms

The Same-race War of the Backrooms was a 15-year long war that occurred on level ¥. The war started when M.E.G’s expansion was cut off by Arialon. In order to expand further into the level, they declared war on Arialon. Due to a power struggle between Arialon’s man-power and M.E.G’s superior technology, the war was often a stalemate. Though, this stalemate was unlike the usual stalemate, this one still had often battles, but with no victor. Sometimes, battles would end because both sides lost most of their armies.

The End of the War, and the Level

on December 6th, 2000, M.E.G. sent 100 warheads into the level. Every M.E.G. member besides one man evacuated. The missiles were dropped, which killed him, and most of Arialon.

Nowadays, It’s one large crater. No vegetation exists on the sendiment. The entire level is filled with nuclear fallout, and is affected by nuclear winter. M.E.G. estimates it’ll be safe again by 3060
