Description
This photo was taken by wanderer B.B. shows the "nameless" road present on level -202 during a period of normal sunny weather. Wanderer B.B. is still alive to share this photo and has since moved on to explore level -55.
Level -202 is an indefinite sketch of a barren desert consisting of a nameless, road of undetermined distance. This location is perpetually in a state of high noon. The temperature is variable. The weather patterns of this level are unpredictable, normal and abnormal, and sometimes conflicting, thus making it dangerous for any wanderer to traverse this road without a vehicle.
Nameless road
The “nameless” road is an undetermined distance, is non-Euclidean, and does not obey gravitational law. On this road, several places will invert vehicles to a full 180° without vehicles losing contact with the road. This road, in random segments, is levitating off the desert floor by unknown means. These roadways are floating above ground at heights between ~2.6ft – 2624.7ft (0.8m - 800m). Interestingly, this road is perfectly paved and marked. The asphalt and markings on this road look freshly laid. It is unknown who or what is maintaining this road. Road markings are consistent with the US two-way roads marked with a double-solid-yellow centerline to indicate that passing is not allowed. US traffic laws are forsaken on this road. However, these rules should be followed as there are no guardrails on this road.
Traversing level -202
The vehicle required to transverse this road is a typical civilian vehicle of various models and makes. How vehicles protect wanderers from the treacherous and variable weather occurring in level -202 cannot be confirmed despite wanderers documenting the phenomenon:
Report 1 - Wanderer S.C. recalls being picked up by an "Elderly couple" in a red convertible. Over their radio, there were weather reports of lavender, acidic rain, and microburst induced by methane clouds. The temperature in the area had dropped to -60°F (~-51.1°C) after being 82°F (~27.8°C) most of that day. Despite riding in an opened convertible, the car by unknown means repelled the abnormal precipitation, wind activity, cloud consistency, and temperature.
Report 2: Wanderer T.J. recalls being picked up by a "Southern man" in a green pickup. Over his radio, there were weather reports of a hell-storm of molten gold and silver proceeded by a "wintry" mix of ice, needles, and blood.
Nevertheless, taking shelter in an unremarkable pickup truck, coup or convertible is not only for your protection but also the only way you can get out of level -202. You cannot walk to exits. Sadly, wanderers never appear on this road with a vehicle of their own regardless of their driving capabilities. Wanderers must risk catching a ride from humanoid entities called Travelers, as hinted at above. Pick your ride to your next destination wisely.
Picking your rides carefully
47% of all wanderers who enter level -202 will disappear and never be seen or heard again. Sadly, most wanderers do not disappear because they got swept up by a category 500 fire tornado. It is worth noting here that the risk of disappearing in level -202 is increased because wanderers must switch out of vehicles at least six times before they can get out of level -202. The most-reported vehicle switches were 27 times. It is unknown why so many transfers are required. Wanderers might need to transfer vehicles because of a minor situation such as, “The cute newlyweds are only going part of the way, so you were dropped off here.” Wanderers might need to switch vehicles to avoid precarious situations such as, “This deranged dude has a fermenting dog in his backside. He keeps pulling over to look for a cassette in his trunk". Nevertheless, needing to make several vehicle changes pressure wanderers to find anyone who will take them closer to the level's exit(s). The longer you stay out of a car, the more likely you will be caught in a molten iron ice storm, for example. The added desperation reduces the wanderer's level of caution when seeking and selecting Travelers to get rides from. Having to swap out of vehicles several times also increases the risk of encountering a hostile Traveler.
Travelers
Wanderers cannot safely traverse level -202. They must hitch a ride with a humanoid entity called a Traveler. These beings are almost indistinguishable from humans. The only difference being humans and Travelers is that they have two rows of teeth, 7-digit polydactyly, and a reptilian-like tail. Travelers are a vague identifier given to these entities as they travel “through” level -202 but do not inhabit level -202. (It cannot be confirmed if any entities inhabit level -202 due to the unpredictable weather making it hard to explore.) Wanderers who encountered and conversed with friendly Traveler(s) reported these beings saying they reside elsewhere and just passing through this area to get there. There are reports that some Travelers are condescending, disrespectful, and mean-spirited for every cordial and respectful encounter. However, trolling Travellers are the least of your worries.
Again, not all Travelers are friendly, and there is no way of knowing if they are dangerous until you get into their vehicle with them... or is there? Below is a list of some of the most common Travelers you will encounter on your journey through level -202. This list will summarize the following:
- Traveler rating
- Survival score
- Entity's or entities' general appearance
- Vehicle driven by entity
- Do's and don't's to interacting with entities
- Close to an exit?
Travelers are ranked on a scale of 1 - 5 on how comfortable you should be accepting a ride from them. (1 = DO NOT get in their vehicle! You will never see the light of day again!! 5 = You should hitch a ride with this entity!) This list will start with the more positively rated Travelers first.
Mrs. Rosewood's purple, 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air paid in full by Mr. Rosewood. He must keep the Mrs. happy. (Disclaimer: Image provided is an example of her car).
Mr. and Mrs. Rosewood (Traveler Rating: 5)
Survival rating: 99.9% * Vehicle: Purple 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air * Number of entities in vehicle: 2
- Theo Rosewood appears to be a male of Irish descent between 25 - 30 years old. He is a charming devil with piercing emerald eyes and vivid scarlet-colored hair. He typically wears a grey flannel suit from 1950. He is completely blind.
- Sasha Rosewood appears to be a female of Hopi descent between 25 - 30 years old. She has a regal, modest, and subdued appearance. She typically wears dresses from the early 1950s. She possesses a deep, affectionate, and knowing voice that her husband adores.
Riding with "The Rosewoods" - Do's and Don't's.
Do's:
- Be on your best behavior. They will not tolerant anyone's nonsense.
- Accept or request a ride from "The Rosewoods".
- Accept any gifts from Mrs. Rosewood. She will give you your favorite favor of pie, almond water, and moth jelly. How she knows what your favorite pie is cannot be confirmed.
- Take Mr. Rosewood's riding recommendations and advice. He knows a lot of the folks back here. He knows all the folks you should avoid.
Don't's:
- Be a terrible human. While Mr.Rosewood is blind, he can hear the evil in your heart and will advise his wife to not allow you into their car. Mrs. Rosewood trusts the keen ears of her husband, so she too will bid you farewell and will not allow you into their vehicle.
- Try to force them to give you a ride after rejection. Mr. Rosewood will kill you. It is unknown how he does, but he felt you threaten his wife.
- Reject their offer and not ride with them. Most wanderers will usually encounter a hostile Traveler soon after. It is not known why.
- Insult Mrs. Rosewood. Theo will toss you out of the vehicle regardless of who or what is out there.
- Insult Mr. Rosewood. Sasha will purposely give you mislabeled bottles of Almond Water. There is no way for you to distinguish what she gave you. It is best to not drink it.
Riding with "The Rosewoods" - Close to an exit?
Wanderers usually encounter the "The Rosewoods" within the first five vehicle transfers. It is not common for them to take any wanderers near an exit. If you are at or have exceeded your sixth vehicle transfer, they will help you exit this level into level 9.
Innocence and Elijah's burnt orange, Nissan Altima. (Disclaimer: Image provided is an example of their car).
Innocence + Elijah = Forever 😊 (Traveler Rating: 4)
Survival rating: 75% * Vehicle: Burnt Orange Nissan Altima * Number of entities in vehicle: 2
- Innocence Rasputin appears to be a male of African descent in his mid-30. He possesses a mischievous smirk and striking blue eyes. He looks like a deathrocker but is built like a UFC fighter.
- Elijah Rasputin-Molyneaux appears to be a feminine male of French descent in his late 20s. He is an albino with pleasant violet eyes. He looks emo. He is built like a cross country runner.
Riding with "The Cute Newlyweds Going Down." - Do's and Don't's.
Do's:
- Join them. They are weird but in a good way.
- Take the rare items they have available. They usually have Neon Water, cursed apples, and (stolen) Blue Octagon.
- Answer Innocence's invasive questions.
- Be nice to them.
Don't's:
- Be disturbed by Elijah hissing at you. He hisses at everyone. It might be his way of greeting you.
- Be rude to them. If you decide to not ride with them, refuse politely. These two are entities of spite. They will summon a storm to deal with you. They will peel off laughing at you, knowing that within the next 20 – 30 seconds, the weather will be your demise.
Riding with "The Cute Newlyweds Going Down." - Close to an exit?
Wanderers can encounter "The Cute Newlyweds Going Down." at any point during their trip. They rarely reject anyone. However, they are never near an exit. They will help you safely transfer to another vehicle. They will take you to a transfer point (location is unclear). They will let you stay in their car until you safely transfer to another vehicle. The wait is only 10 minutes. You will usually be transferred to the following safe Travelers: “Southern Man”. “Elderly Couple”, “Mr. and Mrs. Rosewood”, “Crazy Ed”, "Mike, Mitchell and Molly", "Clowns in Jeep" and "Amy and her Labradoodle".
Jasper Ricci's taxi cab. (Disclaimer: Image provided is an example of their car).
Taxi!! (Traveler Rating: 4)
Survival rating: 70% * Vehicle: Taxi Cab * Number of entities in vehicle: 1
- Jasper Ricci appears to be a male of Italian descent in his early-40’s. He sports a leather jacket and applejack hat. He wears baggy jeans. He smells like cigars without any of them being present. Wanderers debate whether his accent is from Jersey or New York. He can be a bit of wise a**.
Riding with "The Taxi Driver." - Do's and Don't's.
Do's:
- Call for him if you are two vehicle transfers in. Make sure you scream, “Taxi!!”, he will not come unless you call him. This tip is useful if your potential third ride looks sus. He comes quicker if you are in danger.
- Keep track of the number of times you hail him. You can only ride with him three times as he has other patrons and wanderers to attend to.
- Have some form of "payment" if you want to go to an exit. You can only request to go to any exit if you are twelve vehicle transfers in.
- Keep track of the people you have ridden with as level 4 and 5 Travelers are giving you things you can use as "payment".
- Thank him for giving you a ride. He will give you a random assortment of raw quick shots (3) and a UV light.
- Listen to any warnings he gives if you are only traveling with him to be transferred to another vehicle. Unlike other Travelers, he is out on the roads of level -202 most of the time. He hears about everything, including who is responsible for the disappearances.
Don't's:
- Ride with him to an exit if you do not have payment. He will kill.
Riding with "The Taxi Driver." - Close to an exit?
You cannot hail the Taxi unless you have transferred vehicles twice. Use your trips with him wisely. You can only call him three times. While uncommon (likelihood: 5%), he will randomly spawn if you escape riding with a Traveler with a rating of 2. While rare (likelihood: 1%), he will randomly spawn if you are approached by a Traveler with a rating of 2 and 1.
He will take you anywhere on level -202 for free with the expectation of the exits. He will take you to any existing exit as long as you pay him. You can only request a ride to any exit after twelve vehicle transfers. You will not be able to leave his vehicle until you make payment. If you fail to pay him, He will kill. Acceptance forms of payment is neon water, almond water, cursed apples or cigars.
Rebecca's canary yellow, Scion. (Disclaimer: Image provided is an example of her car).
"A Karen..." (Traveler Rating: 3)
Survival rating: 43% * Vehicle: Canary yellow Scion * Number of entities in vehicle: 1 (Thank God...)
- Rebecca [surname not provided] appears to be an entitled female from the Southern parts of the US. She is between the ages of 40 - 50 years. She is what you would call a Karen. She looks like a Karen. She acts like a Karen.
Riding with "A Karen." - Do's and Don't's.
Do's:
- Ride with her as a last resort.
- Get her to call the police on you whether or not she lets you into her car.
Don't's:
- Try to engage her in meaningful conversation. She cannot be reasoned with. She is alway right.
- Stay in her car if you want to stay sane.
Riding with "A Karen..." - Close to an exit?
Wanderers will regret asking her for a ride. Getting a ride from her is rare. She will accuse you of trying to mug her out here. Being left out in the environment by her is one of the reasons why wanderers die. Minus being out of the weather, there are no benefits to riding with her. If you do get a ride from her, prepare yourself for long, disjointed rants about her entitlement, politics, religion, and outlandish conspiracy theories. She will rant the entire time. She does not help you transfer to another safe vehicle. She will not take you to any exits. She will not give you anything to help you on your journey. She will act like you are inconveniencing her. Well... I take that back. There is one benefit to riding with her. Her presence indicates you are six vehicle transfers in, which means you can exploit an exit and use her disdain for everyone to gain access to this exit. Get her to call the police on you and you will be transported to level -50.
The Deranged Man's white and teal, 1960 Plymouth Station Wagon. (Disclaimer: Image provided is an example of his car).
"Deranged Man" (Traveler Rating: 2)
Survival rating: 17% * Vehicle: Rusty, white and teal, 1960 Plymouth Station Wagon. * Number of entities in vehicle: 1
- This “entity” will not give you his name. He appears as a seedy, Caucasian man. He is possibly younger than he looks, but he looks 50. There is not a lot known about him.
Riding with "Deranged Man." - Do's and Don't's.
Do's:
- Refuse to ride with him.
- Stall as long as you can. “Crazy Ed” will appear. (Not much is known about "Crazy Ed", but you will know it is him. He appears to be a man of Jamaican descent. He is roughly 60 ages old. He drives a salmon-colored Cadillac. He will start shooting into the Deranged Man's car to either kill him or scare him off.)
- Open the door while he is driving if you decide to ride with him. You will roll out of the car and no-clip the road.
Crazy Ed's salmon, 1957 Cadillac DeVille. (Disclaimer: Image provided is an example of his car).
Don't's:
- Ride with him.
- Ask to ride with him.
- Ride in the back seat if you decide to ride with him. You have to sit in the front because he always has decaying animals in the backseat.
- Stay in the car with him. It is unknown what he does to his victims.
Riding with "Deranged Man" - Close to an exit?
Assuming you are desperate enough, you can (you really should not) ask him for a ride. If you do not initiate a request, he will extend the offer. Feel free to turn him down. Like Rebecca, his presence indicates you are six vehicle transfers in, thus can exploit an exit. Open the door while he is driving. You will roll out of the car, no-clip the road, and find yourself on the highway of level 311.
Just Paul's matte gold Rolls-Royce . (Disclaimer: Image provided is an example of his car).
"Just Paul" (Traveler Rating: 1)
Survival rating: 0.01% * Vehicle: matte gold Rolls-Royce * Number of entities in vehicle: 1
- Paul is not the entity's real name. This being's real name is not known. He appears as a charming man of Hispanic descent. He looks to be in his mid 20's. He dresses in business casual attire and sports aviator sunglasses. If you look carefully at him, you will notice spots of blood in his hair, on his face, and his clothes. If you want to know more about this entity, ask anyone with a traveler rating of 4 and 5 about him.
Riding with "Just Paul." - Do's and Don't's.
Do's:
- Refuse to ride with him.
- Run if he gets out of his car.
- Ask Theo about him if you ride with "The Rosewoods". He will give you a whistle. Using the whistle when encountering "Just Paul" will trigger the appearance of "The Rosewoods". Run to their car!
- Ask Elijah about him if you ride with "The Cute Newlyweds Going Down". He will give you cursed apples and tell you to offer them to "Just Paul". "Just Paul" will freak out and drive away. "Just Paul" is allergic to cursed apples.
- Run to a Neon Green Jeep Wrangler that by random change spawns on the road as this is the vehicle driven by "Clowns in Jeep". (Not much is known about the clowns that drive this jeep. It is believed they are a part of a circus group somewhere in The Backrooms. There is a total of seven of them in this vehicle. Their appearance is also an indicator that you are near an exit.) "Just Paul" hates clowns so, he will drive off in frustration.
Clowns in Jeep's Neon Green Jeep Wrangler . (Disclaimer: Image provided is an example of their car).
Don't's
- Get into his vehicle.
- Ask him from a ride.
- Let his good looks and nice car fool you.
- Look into his eyes. That is how he lures in his victims.
Riding with "Just Paul" - Close to an exit?
DO NOT ride with this entity. He insta-kills anyone who gets into his car.
Colonies and Outposts
The unpredictable and inhospitable environment conditions of this level makes it impossible to establish a colony or outpost on level -202.
Entrances and Exits
Entrances
- Walking on the sand in a sandbox of level 11 might result in you no-clipping into level -202.
- Jumping off the island in level -55 might, by random chance, get you into level -202.
- Getting to Exit 202 in Level -92 driving Mrs. Rosewood's vehicle or riding with Mrs. Rosewood in any vehicle will take you to level -202.
- While fleeing any entity on level 489, you found a door labeled -202 and went through it.
- Jumping into a pond of almond water in level 286 will result in you emerging out of an almond water rainstorm at level -202.
Exits
- Mr. and Mrs. Rosewood will take you to an undesignated spot on the road and wait for a storm of darkness to sweep through the area. As the storm approaches, you will be told by Mrs. Rosewood to repeat the following three times, "We will be a perfect family even in the face of darkness." If successful, you will be transported to a fully furnished house on level 9.
- Getting Rebecca to call the police on you will result in you getting transported to level -50. Assuming you have not committed a major crime, the officer faceling on this level will take pity on you and encourage you to take extra stuff. He will even give you an additional backpack for the extra supplies. He cannot do anything about Rebecca. He wishes he could.
- If you are hitching a ride from the "Deranged Man", open the door while he is driving. You can roll out of the car, no-clip the road, and find yourself on the highway of level 311.
- Some wanderers are luckily enough to hitch a ride with the "Southern Man" twice. If this is your second trip with him, you are possibly over your 6th vehicle transfer. For wanderers traveling a second time with this entity, ask him how many vehicle transfers have been completed. If you are at or over six, he will stop his pickup. It does not matter where he stops. He will tell you a storm is coming. Wait with him for 30 minutes. The storm will come, and he will bid you farewell as the storm engulfs his vehicle. You must exit his truck and embrace the storm. You will be swept up by a normal tornado and dropped into level 10.
- If you are hitching a ride with "The Taxi Driver", you can request to leave level -202 into any level as long as you are twelve vehicle transfers in and can you provide payment.
- No one knows a lot about "Crazy Ed", but he is best described as chaotic good. He will help you get out of level -202 via a joke level if you are at your 6th transfer when traveling with him. With your permission, of course. He will transfer you to another safe entity if you tell him no. Anyway! He has a weird sense of humor. He will take you to the highest point on this road and stop his car. He will get out to drag you out of his car. He will bring you to the edge of the road to Sparta kick you off. You will fall into Level 9+10=21.
