Level -222 is the 223rd negative level of the Backrooms.
Amara “I know I am a 14ft entity with one missing wing, but there is no one else out here to help you. You will perish if travel this level alone. I will lead you to safety… all you, Gary, have to do is trust me.”

Description
Il n'y a pas de retour en arrière.
Level -222 is a surreal forest of undetermined acreage that consist of several anomalous regions:
- Perdu pour ne pas être retrouvé (Translation: Lost to Not be Found)
- Lac thermal inverse (Translation: Inverted Thermal Lake)
- Tourbière d'agonie (Translation: Bog of Agony)
- Toundra abandonnée au crépuscule (Translation: Forsaken Tundra in Twilight)

- Conifères sanguins réfutés (Translation: Blood Conifers Refuted)
Any supplies, weapons, resources, or food items you brought in with you will suddenly vanish upon entering this level. You will not get any of these items back. Why or how your supplies disappear is unknown. Wanderers express distress, frustration, anger, and anxiety upon finding their resources gone. Fret not! I am here to assist you. If you survive the journey, I will make sure you do not leave empty-handed.
This photo of Level -222, taken by an anonymous wanderer, T.Y., shows the boreal woodland of Perdu pour ne pas être retrouvé. While this image was retrieved from this pocket dimension, wanderer T.Y. is presumed forsaken or dead.
Perdu pour ne pas être retrouvé (Translation: Lost to Not be Found)
Perdu pour ne pas être retrouvé are several pocket dimensions that randomly appear in Level -222. These areas appear to be a dark, silent, boreal forest of undetermined acreage. No sounds emit from these woods. No wanderers or operatives can tell you what entities lurk there or what environmental hazards to anticipate. Anyone or anything that enters or gets trapped in these woods vanish. All rescue attempts for wanderers and operatives have failed.
There is a way out of them. You do not want to know where you will end up. Wherever you end is much worse. If you were ever trapped in them, you should stay in them. Croyez-moi...Oui?
You wanderers have theorized that this location functions as a spatial anomaly, but none of this can be confirmed. I am not here to confirm or unconfirm anything.
Thus far, these pockets of boreal forest have claimed 54 wanderers.
This photo of Level -222 shows the thermal woodlands that surround the boiling lakes of the Lac thermal inverse. This photo was acquired by anomalous means.
Lac thermal inverse (Translation: Inverted Thermal Lake)
Lac thermal inverse is several pockets of boiling cashew water and rose water scattered across Level -222. These boiling bodies of anomalous water are surrounded by surreal thermal woodland. The thermal woods extends away from these boiling lakes for about 5mi to 15 mi (~8.0km to 24.1 km). The temperature of these areas can get up to 100⁰F - 460⁰F (~37.8⁰C - 237.8⁰C). I will mention that the area around these lakes fluctuates and take the temperature with it. You might not know if you are within the kill zone of these lakes until you suddenly have 6th-degree burns on one side of your body. If this happens to you, of course, you will not have long to suffer.
The only known entities that are founded near these areas are lighters. I will warn you that the lighters here have been known to mesmerize wanderers into staring blankly at them. How these lighters do this is not known, but most wanderers end up permanently blind. Three wanderers, this one time, got too close to them, and they were incinerated.
Thus far, this location has claimed 77 wanderers.
Tourbière d'agonie (Translation: Bog of Agony)
This photo of Level -222 shows the Tourbière d'agonie. This photo was removed from wanderer G.I.'s corpse by Amara.
Tourbière d'agonie is an infinite stretch of moist, stinking bog consisting of boiling water, Liquid Pain, tar, liquid fire, and in some places, fluoroantimonic acid. The temperature of this area can get up to 80⁰F - 240⁰F (~26.7⁰C - 115.6⁰C). There is not much to this location. I would not traverse this place unless I was forced to do so. However...I will not discourage you if exploration is what you desire. Feel free to explore this area if your curiosity gets the better of you. I heard from other wanderers that you will start to hallucinate about nicer places while exploring this area. I recommend that you relax. Do not think about it too much... if and when this happens, of course. Tout sera bientôt fini.
Thus far, this bog has claimed 115 wanderers.
This photo of Level -222 shows the Toundra abandonnée au crépuscule. This photo was found by wanderer U.T. who perished in this location.
Toundra abandonnée au crépuscule (Translation: Forsaken Tundra in Twilight)
Toundra abandonnée au crépuscule resembles the Tundra with copious amounts of snow. The temperatures can drop between -170⁰F to 17⁰F (-112.2⁰C to -8.3⁰C). Do not bother exploring here. Hypothermia will claim you in minutes. There are artic smilers that inhabitant this location that will pick at your frozen corpse.
This place has claimed many. Je pourrais te laisser mourir ici...
This photo of Level -222 shows a group of Reaping Willows watching wanderers take pictures of them in Bosquet de récolte. This photo was taken by wanderer Q.T. Q.T. is one with the trees. I do not understand why everything must be documented. Stopping to take pictures and write sh*t is why most of you end up dead.
Bosquet de récolte (Translation: Reaping Grove)
The Bosquet de récolte is of undetermined acreage consisting of non-anomalous and anomalous trees. Tucked away in this woodland paradise are several glittering bodies of water. Hello?? The temperature is a cozy 70°F (~21.1°C) during the day and a brisk 50°F (10°C) at night. The breezy is cool. Not a cloud in the sunny, crisp blue sky. Gary!?? The lush grass is emerald green. The ruby roses and begonias are blooming. The sparrows are singing. A few mule deer can be seen frolicking in a nearby meadow. A swallowtail is eating your finger… let’s cut to the chase! OH! SH*T!!
You are already dead! Did you seriously think by avoiding Level -120, you, Gary, would escape us? The seeds of the Reaping Willow have been dispersed far and wide. It is only a matter of time before we consume you all, and you all become one with the trees!!
Nous avions un accord!!
Let them have them, Amara!!
Vous pouvez avoir le prochain!!
We are leaving now! Relax, Gary! I got you away from her! You are not dead.
Reaping Willows
Uh...? Yes! That was one of many Reaping Willows that reside in Bosquet de récolte.
The Reaping Willows (Genus Predatoridius) is a tree-like entity that mimics the appearances of non-anomalous weeping trees. These trees have completely infested Level -120. These tree-like entities have been dispersed to Level -222. It is rumored that the Malveillants might be aiding in their distribution. The Malveillants can safely eat the flesh fruit produced by these trees without experiencing any ill effects or being predated themselves.
These trees subdue prey by using hallucinogenic pollen, kairomones, and unique weapons. These trees are more effective in ambushing human prey in Level -222 as there are plenty of normal trees for them to hide amongst. The only indication that you might be in the presence of the Reaping Willow is finding mangled flesh and twisted bone scattered below a tree. However, more wanderers would assume this was done by some other creature and not a tree. There is no way of surviving a Reaping Willow attack. What you can do is avoid the Weeping Grove.
Yes...the Reaping Willow certainly has an impressive body count.
This photo of Level -222, taken [dried blood is covering the name] the grove of Conifères sanguins réfutés. This image was retrieved [dried blood and dirty is covering this.]
Conifères sanguins réfutés (Translation: Blood Conifers Refuted)
Conifères sanguins réfutés is a ~3250-acre grove of anomalous species of pine trees called Pin de sang corrompu (Translation: corrupt blood pine). These pine trees have blood-red bark, bearing crimson pine needles and harboring scarlet pinecones. These trees belong to the Malveillants. These trees are the remnants of who the Malveillants once were.
You stare at me! Why?
Trust is everything...remember. Oui?
Malveillant
The Malveillants are former Natives from Level -777 who harbor malicious intent or have done something malicious. Most of them will be sacrificed to The Void in a ritual called Sacrifice de sang au Vide. For their sins, they will suffer and linger in darkness for all eternity. Being offered to The Void, according to the Natives, is a merciful death for murders and the like. Malveillants who are hunted down and killed like animals are seen as cowards.
Quoting a Reaper names "Touttanta", “P*ssy, you are. We spit on you! You took life like a warrior but flee like a rat now that there is retribution for spilling innocent blood? The irony! Stop running, loathsome c*nt!! Your victims faced your blade and choked, surely you can face ours!! Die on the black mirror or die like an animal!”
Some Malveillants “avoid” this punishment by sacrificing themselves to The Void, as fleeing is not an option. There is no honor in fleeing. Native combatants, hunters and reapers, and members of the Voidic Blade Runners will relentlessly pursue them with the intent to bring them to the scrying mirror or kill them. The Malveillants who offer themselves to The Void escape to find themselves in Level -222.
As stated in a ritual mentioned in Level -777 called Ligne de sang, the Native’s Pin goutte de sang writhes and dies when the Native does. The Malveillants who escaped The Void escaped death and, their pine appears here corrupt. The best way to survive the Conifères sanguins réfutés is to avoid them. The Malveillants of Level -222 is no longer under the watchful eyes of their people. They no longer conceal any demented tendency they harbor. Some will happily kill one another or other entities, but most prefer to kill explorers for food or sport. ***malicious stare***
There have also been reports of a small group of 37 Malveillants trapping and kidnapping wanderers for purposes unknown. These Malveillants can be distinguished from the others. They sport scarlet and spiked collars with bells on them. Their English is more refined, and they are mannerism more charming. They look pampered and spoiled but do not let this fool you. They do not mind getting their hands dirty. They will rip apart wanderers who resist capture. ***creepy smile***
If you hear any bells in Level -222, there is no use in running. ***flicks bell on collar mockingly***
I will assume you did not hear mine. It is okay. Thank you for trust me...
I always give my victims a running start.
Colonies and Outposts
Due to the nature of this environment, colonies and outpost should be not established here.
