Level -50 is the 50th negative level of the Backrooms.

Description

Officer Wolfe's Police Pursuit Vehicle (PPV) parked at the nameless gasoline station + convenience store.

Road Sign Level -50.png

Level -50 is a nameless gasoline station + convenience store on a looping backcountry road on Interstate 50 headed south to an unknown “location” named “Old Man Consequences”. This “place” is perpetually in a state of twilight under a clear, starry, and moonlit sky. The temperature is consistently pleasant but cool 50°F (10°C). From this gasoline station and store, you can see the road, rolling empty rural hills, sparse woodlands, and farms in the distance. It is unknown if what you see in the distance is real. Try as you might, you can only go 0.5 miles (~0.8 km) away from this gasoline station and store walking or driving in any direction before you are looped back here.

If you are a licensed driver, you will appear on this road driving in an undistinguishable, black car. If you are not a licensed driver or have a phobia of driving, you will appear on this level walking along the shoulder. This road enforces the US traffic laws. The only traffic on this road will be you. You will never meet another wanderer out here. There is never traffic coming from Old Man Consequences but only to it.

There is only one road signs telling you that you are headed south on Interstate 50 to Old Man Consequences. Digital mapping apps and GPS will not help you out here. There are no paper road maps marked for this location or destination. (Like anyone uses those anymore). You will subconsciously know that you are heading south on Interstate 50 toward Old Man Consequences. Anyone who has traversed this road will stop at this non-descriptive gasoline station and store. Failure to stop at this station and store will result in you looping back onto this road.

Nameless gasoline station and convenience store

The gasoline station consists of 8 islands. All pumps usually have functional petrol or diesel pumps, but island #3’s pump sometimes is covered with that yellow plastic bag with black letters that read, “Out of order”. The available fuel at this station is rose water, regular petrol, midgrade petrol, premium petrol, diesel, and liquid pain. It is not known why rose water or liquid pain is an available fueling option. There is no documentation suggesting that you can drive anything with either. Neither substance is petrol or diesel of any kind. Rose water could be used to clean rust out your tank. It might be a good gasoline additive in low concentrations. Liquid pain is a toxic, corrosive, and acidic substance that has the consistency of gelatin and explodes when it contacts alcohol. Liquid pain sounds like it would corrode and gum up your tank. If your tank is only partially filled, it would not be wise to top it off with liquid pain as US gasoline contains 10% ethanol. Would not recommend either. Do not know why these are available. The convenience store is filled with useful items such neon water, almond water, freshwater, moth jelly, other non-anomalous food items, first aid kits, etc. There are no gasoline attendants or cashiers present at this location so take whatever you need at ad libitum. The store and pumps refill themselves by unknown means. You might be confronted by a false faceling in a cop uniform while exiting the convenience store or once you are finished filling up your tank.

Selfie of Officer Atticus N. Wolfe, giving to wanderer Y.K. It is not know what emotional state he is portraying in this photo as he is taking a picture of himself. A blank face for him never means anything good but this might suggest he can blank his face at will.

Officer Atticus N. Wolfe

Officer Atticus N. Wolfe is a false faceling with full facial features. He is the only entity present on level -50. He is the only known faceling up to date that has been known to speak. He appears as an adult between the ages of 25 - 30 years. He takes the form of a Caucasian male in a police uniform who sports short brunette hair and a little stubble on the chin. He has piercing green eyes and a confident smile (or smirk). His facial features disappear when he is annoyed, frustrated, disappointed, angry, or upset. While he is usually friendly, he can be a moody stickler and a well-meaning prick. He drives the typical Police Pursuit Vehicle (PPV). However, his vehicle is missing the police marking for the area he is patrolling for. When he does appear, he comes from nowhere. Do not give him a hard time.

He is just doing his job.

Just Passing Through?

It is worth noting here that some wanderers simply end up here. However, most wanderers who come this way end up here because they have done something wrong or they are going to do something wrong. Seeing Officer Atticus N. Wolfe is neither a good nor bad sign. However, the complete absence of his face and his unwillingness to speak with you is a bad sign. Below is a list of descriptive scenarios that will help determine what position you are in:

Scenario 1:

  • You come through here, and you are not approached by or see Officer A. N. Wolfe.
    • Conclusion: Keep calm and carry on. You are simply passing through. If you are driving, you can fill up the tank if you want. You will not have access to the car once you exit this level. It would be courteous of you to top off the tank for the next driver. It is strongly advised that you grab a few things at this convenience store. You are going to be looped back here if you do not stop anyway. Take as much as you like. There is no telling if and when you will be back here.

Scenario 2:

  • You come through here, and after filling up your tank or getting stuff, you were approached by or see Officer A. N. Wolfe. Full facial features presence.
    • Conclusion: Thankfully, there are no "Karens" on this level, so no one called the police on you. (Karen would not survive in The Backrooms anyway.) He is approaching you to simply check-in. His presence is an indicator you are going to do something wrong for a justifiable reason. He cannot stop you. He will not stop you. Due to the nature of your predicament, he might even side with you on this matter. He is just doing his job. He is concerned that your actions might lead you to an even worse fate.

Scenario 2: Logged encounter with Officer Wolfe

Officer Wolfe, "Shouldn't you be payin' for that!?"

Wanderer, M.K. (jumps at the sight of the officer), "..."

Officer Wolfe, chuckles, "I'm just messin'. What are you doing all the away back here?"

Wanderer, M.K., "Nothin'! I just ended up here... you know?"

Officer Wolfe, smirks, "You ain't causin' trouble I hope?"

Wanderer, M.K. (rolls his eyes), "No, officer. I have been on my best behavior. Is there a problem?"

Officer Wolfe's face disappears, "Folks that end up here usually have done something bad or is going to do something bad. Which one are you?"

Wanderer, M.K. did not answer. This officer's face just disappeared. He is just realizing that this cop is a faceling.

Officer Wolfe's face reappears, "I know they abandoned you to die in level 6. Do not seek revenge. It will get you nowhere."

Wanderer, M.K. is stunned, "How did you...?"

Officer Wolfe laughs, "Son, this is the The Backrooms. For the sake of argument, I know nothing until you come through here. I'm not omnipresent."

***end log***

Wanderer M.K. admitted that he was disturbed by how much the cop faceling knew about his situation. Despite Officer Wolfe being a faceling, M.K. felt he was the first "person" he could trust in a long while. M.K. confirmed that he was exploring level 6 with four other people he believed were his friends. They were attacked in the dark. Someone in the group pushed then tripped him saying, "Take him! Not me!" He also heard those four people laughing as they sprinted away into the dark. He recounts that he was dragged off by the pursuing entity, but was rescued by a Native tracker from level -777. He recalls that he stayed in the Ethereal Grounds of level -777 for two weeks before he exited the place and found himself on level 10. While traversing level 10, he insisted that he climbed over a fence there but stumbled over it. When he sat up, he found himself on the shoulder of the road in level -50.

Scenario 3:

  • You come through here, and after filling up your tank or getting stuff, you were approached by or see Officer A. N. Wolfe. Facial features are absent.
    • Conclusion: He is approaching you to give you a fair warning. Your misconduct is minor and inexcusable. He cannot do anything about what you have done. He cannot stop you from doing anything in the future... at least not yet. He is concerned that your actions might lead you to an even worse fate. He does not want to be involved in this, but he is only doing his job.

Scenario 3: Logged encounter with Officer Wolfe

Officer Wolfe snarls, "Here causin' trouble'!?"

Wanderer, F.B. (stumbles onto the ground), "Holy sh*t!!

Officer Wolfe continues, "Stop bein' a punk and GET UP!!"

Wanderer, F.B. (stands up), "Since when could facelings talk?"

Officer Wolfe, snaps, "DO NOT INTERRUPT ME!! I am asking the questions!"

Wanderer, F.B. (scared), "..."

Officer Wolfe's face reappears, "You know why you are here?"

Wanderer, F.B. is trembling in fear but manages to shake his head. [no.]

Officer Wolfe's face slowly disappears again, "Theft! You are here because of theft! You are aware that most folks down here will trade with you or just give what you need if asked!?"

Wanderer, F.B. (stammers), "Wait...what...how the f*ck...?"

Officer Wolfe shouts, "Shut up and listen! And listen good! You ain't the only one struggling down here. Your theft ain't goin' to be tolerant for much longer. The next time you come through here and you have stolen. You comin' with me. Got it!"

Wanderer, F.B., is shaken but nods.

Officer Wolfe hisses, "Good! Get your sh*t and get out. Do not forget what I said!"

***end log***

Wanderer F.B. admitted that he was terrified of the cop faceling and how he knew about his misdeeds. He admitted to stealing from colonists at T.B.D [To Be Determined] and The Deniers/The Regretters from level 4. He also stole from colonists from The Eyes of Argos and Independent Trade Haulers Outpost 00 from level 11. He claims he has cleaned up his act and will never steal again. He revealed that while fleeing a level 4 colonist he robbed, he gave them the slip by hiding in a closet. Upon stumbling out, he found himself on the shoulder of the road in level -50, and the door back was gone.

Scenario 4:

  • Officer A. N. Wolfe approaches you at the shoulder of the road or pulls you over. Facial features are absent.
    • Conclusion: Your misconduct is major and irredeemable. He has no words (or a face) for you. He is here to arrest you for your offenses. You are more of a threat to wanderers than the entities are. No one knows where he takes these people, but they do not return.

Colonies and Outposts

It is impossible to establish an outpost or colony here as only one wanderer can be here at a time.

Entrances and Exits

Entrances

  • You can climb over a fence on level 10. Stumbling over the fence will result in you no-clipping the ground on level 10 and appearing on the road of level -50.
  • You can hide in a closet on level 4, resulting in you being teleported to the road on level -50. The door will disappear behind you.
  • You can be teleported suddenly out of a park in level 11 and appear on the road of level -50.
  • Getting to Exit 50 in Level -92 driving Officer Wolfe's PPV or riding with Officer Wolfe in any vehicle will lead you to level -50. (You will not appear at this level in the officer's vehicle. He will be lenient on you if you have committed a minor and inexcusable crime, Scenario 3).
  • If you encounter the Rebecca entity at your 6th vehicle transfer in level -202, you can get her to call the police on you. You will be transported to the road of level -50.
  • If you are a clear threat to human lives, you could be teleported from any level and appear on the road of level -50.
  • Driving through the edge of Level -102 has a 25% chance of bringing you here.

Exits

  • Wanderers in Scenario 1 will collect their supplies and either walk or drive to the 0.5-mile mark and continue into a fog. These travelers will end up back in the previous level they originated from or can be teleported to Level Level -150 if they find a rare calculator and subtract 100 from 250. You will not be able to find this calculator if you are in scenario 2, 3 or 4.
  • Wanderers in Scenario 2 will finish speaking to Officer Wolfe and collect their supplies. They will either walk or drive to the 0.5-mile mark and continue into a fog. These travelers will end up back in the previous level they originated from.
  • Wanderers in Scenario 3, will be scolded by Officer Wolfe. They will be allowed to collect their supplies. They will either walk or drive to the 0.5-mile mark and continue into a fog. These travelers will end up back in the previous level they originated from.
  • Wanderers in Scenario 4 get arrested. Where they are taken is not unknown, but they are never seen again.
