Description
Level -83 is a temporal, spatial, and perception anomaly of varying areas featuring ‘empty’ landscapes. Level -83's environment will appear different to and experienced differently by each person. Below are summarized reports of solo and group accounts of Level -83.
Summary of Exploration 1: 'Helen'
This image was reportedly taken by Explorer A and M.E.G. personnel, Helen █. ████████. There is no documentation of Helen █. ████████ being a member of M.E.G. It is possible that Helen █. ████████ does not exist, but this cannot be confirmed. This image and other documentation were found by Explorer B and survivalist William █. █████████.
Name: Helen █. ████████ Title: M.E.G. field operative and researching assistant of ███████████ Explorer designation: Explorer A
Date: ██/██/████
Explorers A claimed they arrived in Level -83 ██/██/████ alone. Explorer A reported they have not been in contact with another human being in over ████████. Explorer A claimed they were in a gorgeous rose field. They measured and recorded the temperature of this environment was an ambient 74°F (~23.3°C). They traversed this level's environment for ██ days and established that the light/dark cycle was 12:12. Explorers A reported they did not encounter any entities or other explorers while traversing Level -83. Explorer A did not report any strange environmental activity while exploring Level -83.
Comments: There is no record of this M.E.G. personnel ever existing. The documents and images were signed by an individual name Helen █. ████████ with the title M.E.G. field operative and researching assistant of ███████████. The M.E.G. branch reported does not exist. These documents and images were found by Explorer B.
Summary of Exploration 2: William
This image of Level -83 was captured but Explorer B, William █. █████████.
Name: William █. █████████, survivalist Explorer designation: Explorer B
Date: ██/██/████
Explorers B claimed they arrived in Level -83 ██/██/████ alone. Explorer B reported they have always been a loner. They made no attempts to stick around other people. Explorer B claimed they were in a lovely boreal forest. While they came prepared, they did not stay in Level -83 long. They measured and recorded the temperature of this environment was a cold -65°F - -30°F (-53.9°C - -34.4°C). Level -83 also lacked resources, and the space for them was perpetually in a state of night. Explorer B did not encounter any entities or other explorers, but they had this feeling they were being watched by something amongst the trees. Explorer B did not report any strange environmental activity while exploring Level -83.
Comments: Explorer B found the images and documents of Explorer A abandoned in the tundra snow. The strangest thing about Explorer A's recordings is that they were dated for the same time and date Explorer B was in the area.
Summary of Exploration 3: 'Wanderer Forsaken'
This image was taken by an unknown wanderer and found by Explorer E, Sidney █. █████. Explorer C's notes revealed they were being stalked by demonic-like entities. It is assumed they were claimed by these entities.
Name: Cannot be confirmed Explorer designation: Explorer C
Date: Cannot be confirmed
Explorer C is a loose designation for the wander who took the provided image of Level -83. Explorer C frantically notes Level -83 at this time as a variation of Hell. It is assumed that Explorer C came here alone as their disjointed notes did not mention anyone else with them. Explorer C did not mention the time of day, the light/dark cycle, or the temperature of the environment. They did note they were being chased by entities that favored demons. It is assumed that Explorer C was claimed by these entities. Blood was found on several photos and documents. Explorer C's reports were recovered by explorers E.
Comments: n/a
The anomalous characteristics of Level -83 get stranger when explorers arrive at this level in groups. Arriving at this space in a large group does not bring cohesion to the area being viewed and experienced. It was believed that this space generated hallucinogenic agents resulting in each explorer seeing and experiencing something different. However, explorers traveling in groups have presented photos and video recordings of this space and what has been presented is conflicting. None of the digital images or recordings reveal consistency. The digital images and recordings reveal what that individual witnessed and experienced. The individual’s perception of this reality influences the digital images generated. It cannot be confirmed why this phenomenon is taking place.
Summary of Exploration 4: Altsoba and Sidney
Name(s): Altsoba █. ███████ - █████ and Sidney █. █████ Title(s) respectively: classified Explorer designation respectively: Explorer D and E.
Date: ██/██/████
This image was capture was Explorer D, Altsoba █. ███████ - █████. They were surprised by the images captured by their spouse.
Explorers D and E claimed they arrived in Level -83 ██/██/████ together. While documentation cannot be provided, Explorers D and E claimed they have been married for over ██ years and have been trapped in The Backrooms for █ years leaving behind their ██ year-old daughter. Their recounts of Level -83 are vastly different despite traveling this area together.
This image was captured was Explorer E, Sidney █. █████. They were confused by the images captured by their spouse. Explorer E cannot recall their spouse taking any pictures.
Explorer D claimed they saw and experienced a vast forest with a church looming in the distance. Explorer D claimed neither they nor their spouse measured the temperature of the environment but felt the temperature was comfortable. The environment was perpetually in a state of mid-morning. Explorer D believed the environment was in late winter/early spring. Explorer D claims angelic singing was heard from every direction in Level -83. Explorer D insisted that they and their spouse walked towards this church for days but never got closer to it. Explorer D does not remember when they exited Level -83.
Explorer E recalls them and their spouse traversed a vast rainbow desert that yielded almond water rainfall every two days. Explorer E insisted they measured the temperature of this environment, and it was between 87⁰F - 105⁰F (30.6⁰C – 40.6⁰C). The space had a light/dark cycle of 5:5. Explorer E said they heard nothing besides the wind blowing up and around the sand. Explorer E mentioned their mate did not act out of the ordinary despite their retelling of events. Explorer E mentioned they saw someone walking in the distance, but they never could catch up to them. Explorer E insists they found an oasis, and they both no-clipped the water and found themselves in Level 3511.
Comments: Both Explorers D and E provided images of their journey through Level -83. Their photos reveal they witnessed and experienced a different 'place'. Explorer E found Explorer C’s pictures and documents of their trip through Level -83 scattered amongst the dunes. Explorer D cannot recall when their husband found those reports.
Summary of Exploration 5: Gray, August and Peter
Names(s) Gray █. ████████, August █. ████████ and Peter █. █████ Explorer designation respectively: Explorer F,G and H.
Date: ██/██/████
Explorers F, G and H claimed they arrived in Level -83 ██/██/████ together. While documentation cannot be provided, Peter █. █████ is the cousin of Gray █. ████████. Peter and Gray have been trapped in The Backrooms since ██/██/████. They meet August █. ████████ in Level 2 less than █ weeks ago. Their recounts of Level -83 were vastly different and traumatic for someone.
This image was taken by Explorer F, Gray █. ████████. The picture they provide contradicts the physical trauma they sustained.
Explorer F claimed they were standing in a park and looking at a city looming in the background. They do not recall much else. They believe that Explorer G got lost in Level -83. Explorer F will exit Level -83 covered in scars and bruises, with their eyes gouged out, with several broken ribs and missing one leg. Explorer F surprisingly survived their ordeal. They managed to capture a picture of what they witnessed and experienced while in Level -83.
Explorer G does not escape Level -83. They are decreased and cannot give an account of what they witnessed.
Explorer H claimed they appeared in a dark forest, and they were attacked by a group of smilers. According to Explorer H, Explorer G was mutilated beyond recognition and dragged off by 3 of the beasts. Explorer H barely escaped with Explorer F draped over their person. Explorer H was not able to provide images of what Level -83 looked like to them.
Comments: The main focus here will be what Explorer G witnessed and endured while traversing Level -83 and the theories pertaining to their experience.
Theory 1: Some wanderers have argued that perhaps Explorer H saw something more horrifying and mind-bending than they dare remember and went insane. They cannot reproduce any image of what they witnessed, so insanity is possible. Explorer H attacked Explorer F and G. Explorer H came to their senses and proceeded to bring Explorer F out of Level -83. Explorer G was left behind because there might not have been much left to bring back. Finally, another human being can inflict the injuries sustained by Explorer F.
Theory 2: While explorers cannot see the other reality, they are engaged with the other's reality with dire consequences. How is not clear. Explorer F cannot recall the attack at all. Explorer F also knew Explorer G was lost but cannot elaborate on how they got lost. Explorer F can recall being carried by Explorer H but did not remember why. Explorer F argued that they always had a good relationship with Explorer H. They are cousins, after all. Explorer F insisted that their cousin picked them up several times in the past. Explorer F assumed they must have been playing in the park. Explorer F figured they got tired, and their cousin picked them up. They did not realize they were injured until they were out of Level -83. Finally, previous solo and group accounts suggest theory two is most plausible.
Even more concerning, there is evidence suggesting that an explorer's perception of reality when visiting Level -83 is not restricted to the level itself, as demonstrated in Exploration Log #6.
Summary of Exploration 6: Shanna, Shane, Jessica, Theo, and Daniel
Names(s): Shanna E. and Shane E. █████, Jessica █. █████, Theo █. ███ and Daniel █, ██████. Explorer designation respectively: I, J, K, L and M.
What each individual explorer photographed and recorded digitally is irrelevant as the following is confusing enough…
Explorers I and J claimed they arrived in Level -83 11/17/████ together. Explorer K claimed they arrived in Level -83 04/21/████ together. Explorer L cannot recall when they arrived in Level -83. Explorer M never existed, but the other four explorers will insist they did.
Explorers I and J will claim they are fraternal twins. Explorer K will confirm they are fraternal twins. Explore L insist that Explorer I is three years older than Explorer J. Everyone will insist that Explorer M was Explorer J’s best bro. Explorer J will claim that Explorers K and L are best friends, while Explorers K and L insist they have only known the other for a few weeks.
This image was discovered by Explorer L. No one in the surviving group can confirm who captured this image.
Stranger still, Explorers I and J has been reported missing by Explorer L, but both explorers will survive and exit Level -83. Explorers I and J have given conflicting information concerning whether Explorer L traveled with them at all. Explore K insists that Explorer L was with them and went missing. Explorer L will swear they did not go missing in Level -83 and exited out with everyone else in their group. Explorer K will be reported dead by Explorer J, but Explorer K will survive and exit Level -83.
Strangest of all, no one reported seeing or experiencing anything disturbing while exploring Level -83 despite the reports of group members dying or going missing. Someone took the following picture provided. No one can confirm who.

Colonies and Outposts
Establishing colonies and outposts on this level is strongly discouraged due to the variable environment.
Entrances and Exits
Entrances
- Some explorers cannot recall their access point.
- Surviving Level 140 might send you here.
- No-clipping the boardwalk in Level 300 might result in you being transported here.
- You reaching 'The Behavioral Suite' of Level -369 might prompt Javaraya to snap his fingers and randomly send you here. It is possible you are still being observed by my children.
Exits
- Explorers can be randomly sent anywhere in The Backrooms as long as you do not go missing or die here.
