Level -99 is the 100th negative level in the Backrooms.

Description

Level -99 is a presumably cavernous area called "The Backrooms Catacombs" by Wanderers. This level has proven to be dangerous in various ways. Level -99 is a very dry environment, with the floor, walls, and ceiling made of sandy, cracked stone. Most of this level appears the same, with exception for a few passages and rooms. Some rooms in Level -99 are notable and can be used as landmarks, such as a circular shaped room with a single waterfall in the center of the room, falling from a large hole cut from the ceiling, and falling into a pitch black abyss. Another level is a cramped hallway, with a floor of flaming coal stones.

Level -99's layout always changes, some rooms end in dead ends, some end with deep pits that lead to a black abyss, and some end in pits filled with jagged rocks. Some rooms require wanderers to make large jumps, climb up vertical structures, walk up miles and miles of stairs, crawl through claustrophobic tunnels, and many more. This has proven to be difficult to most wanderers, as most of the wanderers who have entered this level have died of exhaustion, or dehydration. Escaping Level -99 has proven to be very difficult, as any passageway could be an exit to the next level.

Level -99 has multiple types of entities roaming around, they consist of Hounds, Clumps, Dullers, Howlers, Skin Stealers, Bursters, Death Rats, Limbs, and Six Arms.

Colonies and Outposts

Backroom Colonists

The group has an outpost mostly to supply almond water to people entering this level, and they have even set up turrets and fortifications around their outpost, making it extremely secure. Around the outpost itself, they construct bridges and are installing a GPS system for this level to help explorers.

Tips

  • Have a lot of Almond Water
  • Be prepared to enter a dangerous room.
  • Take rests.
  • Do not panic.
  • Do not stay in a room for too long.
  • Do not approach entities.
  • Do not waste supplies.

Entrances and Exits

Entrances

  • Noclipping through a wall in Level 8 has a rare chance of leading here.
  • Breaking through the floor in Level 0 has a very rare chance to lead to this level.
  • Breaking a wall in Level 3495 can lead here.

Exits

  • Finding the VERY HIDDEN exit in this level will lead to Level 0.
  • Falling into the black abyss will lead to The Void.
  • Repent for your sins to go to Level 999.
  • Finding a trapdoor has a 90% chance to lead you back to the start of Level -99, but a 10% chance to instead go to Level 5005 instead. You can usually know which will lead to level 5005 because it will have the distinct smell of almond water.
  • Noclipping through a dead end can very rarily lead to Level 850
