Level Description

Another photo of Level 0.42.

Level 0.42 is a sub-level of Level 0. Level 0.42 is an infinite labyrinth of repeating rooms. This level has no lights and is extremely dark, so it is advised to bring your own light source. You could end up finding someone else, but it'll mostly be by coincidence. Any sound made echos throughout the level.

Altered Rooms

To start things off, the wallpaper in this level is identical to the wallpaper in Level 0, but the carpet in this level is dry, much like the carpet in Level 0.22. Usually, rooms will have four exits connecting to other rooms, but sometimes rooms can have three or two exits, with the missing one or two being replaced by a wall. Sometimes, two or three rooms will can be connected and form one single room, making the room more spacious. However, some rooms will be only half the size of a normal room, making it more claustrophobic. Some rooms don't appear to have a ceiling above, with the walls expanding farther up. Some rooms may have very thin cracks in the walls that you can only look through. Some of the rooms have a bottomless pit, with a wooden plank made of a an type unknown wood that can be used to get across. Sometimes, the plank is seen Broken in half, making it impossible to cross. Sometimes, the rooms may not have any way across. If you fall into a pit, you will fall into the Void unless you no-clip.

Furniture

Some of the rooms can have furniture, like a single stool with torn-up red or purple fabric.

Crates

Sometimes, you can find crates stacked in a small pile in the corners, or a bigger stack of crates may tend to block off an entire exit of a room. The crates can be moved out of the way, and if you were to shake a crate, you would hear items inside. The crates are made of the same wood as the planks, but the crates cannot be destroyed or opened. It is unknown what is inside the creates.

Staircases

Random staircases made of concrete can be found throughout this level and are normally the same color as the wallpaper. The staircases will normally lead to another floor. It is unknown how many floors there are.

Vents

A vent in Level 0.42.

In some cases, vents can be found and can replace one of the exits in a room. They usually have four ways out, but can also have three or two ways out. You can use the vents to your advantage to hide from entities.

Sometimes, you may see a hole in a wall with a balloon in it. It is not reccommended to crawl into in

Hallucinations

You can experience visual and auditory hallucinations, which can drop your sanity, so it is advised to bring a bottle of Almond Water with you, wether you entered on accident or on purpose. Types of hallucinations include the following:

Auditory Hallucinations

  • Occasionally, you will hear the sound of a car accident, even though there are no roads present.
  • An extremely loud scream.
  • Occasionally you will hear footsteps behind you, sounding like they are running towards you, wanderers have reported seeing no one behind them when they look back.

Visual Hallucinations

  • Shadow figures. There are two variants of this shadow figure. One variant will run through the room in front of you. Trying to chase it will only lead to it managing to outrun you. Chasing it could make you less aware of your surroundings, making you more vunerable to entities. Another variant will stand still in a random corner of the room you are currently in. From it can be heard whispers. It is impossible to decipher what they are saying. It's head will also twitch violently. It is not recommended to interact with it, as those who did have gone missing and weren't heard from again.
  • Sometimes, in the distance you might see Smile Dog, Jeff the Killer, or various other popular creepypastas. They will not chase you, only stare and intimidate you. If you were to try and approach them, they would run away.

Entities

  • Shadow-like humanoids. The only way to distinguish them from the hallucinations that occur is the red light this entity emits. They also make a sound similar to loud and slightly distorted breathing. They are very aggresive and will attack on sight.
  • You find giant insects similar to roaches in the Frontrooms. Fortunately, they are docile to wanderers and will only attack if provoked. They are not provoked by any light sources, and they have a very powerful bite, possibly due to it's size.
  • A disembodied hand will randomly reach out from the darkness to grab you. The hand will disappear if you simply blink. The people who didn't blink weren't so lucky.

Items

Plenty of items can be found in this level. They can randomly appear and disappear randomly in a similar fashion to Level 1.

Weapons

There are various weapons that can be useful for defending yourself from entities. However, they can break easily. These include:

  • Hatchet.
  • Wooden Bat.
  • Crowbar.
  • Revolver (Usually empty, but in very rare cases they already had six bullets in them. It is unknown where the bullets came from).
  • M1911 Pistol.

Supplies

  • Small ammo box.
  • On very rare occasions, there will be a crate made of oak wood that can be opened. These will usually have more bullets in them, but can sometimes have little to no bullets in them.
  • You can find armor that can protect you from indirect or weak direct hits. Usually you can find a helmet or chestplate made of an unknown metal.

Healing

  • Roll of bandages.
  • Med-kit (The amount of supplies in it varies).
  • Almond water (It is advised to bring with your own almond water with you when entering this level because even though almond water can be found here, it appears very rarely.)

Light Sources

Light sources can be used to light up the level so you can see. They will be useful if you either didn't bring a light source, or your light source ran out. The only downside is that the brighter the light source is, the more likely an entity will see you.

  • Occasionally you can find a flashlight that is already on. It is unknown where they came from.
  • Box of matches (The amount of matches in the box varies).
  • Lantern. Like lanterns in the Frontrooms, they can be fueled by normal lamp oil or K-1 Kerosene just like in the Frontrooms.
  • Ultraviolet lamp. This is the most powerful light source, it is battery powered.
  • Night vision goggles.

Colonies and Outposts

There are no known colonies or outposts in this level.

Entrances and Exits

Entrances

  • By walking far enough into an extremely dark group of rooms in Level 0, you'll have entered Level 0.42.

Exits

  • By finding and walking up a concrete staircase that is gray in Level 0.42, you will enter Level 1. However, a gray concrete staircase has only been found in rare cases.
  • If you climb into a hole in a wall with a balloon, you'll enter Level Fun.

This level is inspired by this game for some reason.
