Level 1001 is the 1002nd level of The Backrooms, and the 2nd level of Cluster II. It is split up into different sections, each with their own unique entities. Level 1001 is commonly referred to H.B.C.V, which stands for Hotel, Basement, Cave, Void.

Section 1 - "The Grayscale Hotel"

Survival Difficulty: Class 1
》Safe
》Secure
》Single Entity

A hallway in Section 1 during a grayscale event.

Section 1 is a randomly generated hotel, and is the section you will be put in when you enter this level. The hotel is similar in style of Level 5, and has rooms numbered like a normal hotel, and contains furniture that would you usually find in a hotel. Some drawers and cabinets can be found in the hotel rooms that have various types of items in them, both useful and useless. The hotel has an estimated amount of around 500 floors, though some may say that it's infinite. There are elevators and staircases that can take you to the different floors. Sometimes the color of the hotel may slowly become more and more desaturated, until it's completely black and white.

There is only one entity here, named the Housekeeper. The Housekeeper is an intelligent entity that is a completely black humanoid with it's only visible facial features being a white mouth. This entity is friendly and will even guide you to wherever you ask in Section 1. However, if you vandalise or destroy anything in Section 1 all lights within a certain radius will turn off and the Housekeeper will become extremely hostile towards you and chase you until you're dead. There is currently no known way to escape the Housekeeper once this happens, though it is probable that if you escape Section 1 before the Housekeeper can catch you then he wont follow you.

The exit is to keep going down the floors until the material of the hotel turns into stone. Then you will eventually be transported to Section 2.

Section 2 - "The Basement of Hallucinations"

Survival Difficulty: Class 2
》Unsafe
》Secure
》Low Entity Count

A brick area of Section 2

Section 2 is a dark, claustrophobic basement with small pipes along the walls and ceiling. The basement has areas made out of stone, concrete, and bricks. Some areas are so tight that it's impossible to pass through. It seems to be abandoned with rubble and cracks throughout the level. If you look through the cracks, you might see a dark figure, not doing anything. There is a lingering red fog in Section 2 that makes you hallucinate, but is otherwise harmless.

Entities on this level are Hounds, Skin-Stealers, and Smilers, but these entities don't appear often. There is one entity that appears frequently, though. These entities are called Stonecutters. Stonecutters are entities that appear in the stone areas in this section. They manifest themselves into the stone walls. The part of the wall that they are in will be slightly darker and the pattern will shift around. If you are too close to a Stonecutter, it will explode itself into a cluster of small, but sharp pieces of stone in attempt to kill anyone near it. These entities are hard to spot unless you're looking for them, so it's best to try to avoid stone areas of Section 2 as much as possible.

To exit Section 2, you need to find an empty elevator shaft with a rope hanging above it, and then climb down the rope. Once you reach the bottom, you will end up in Section 3.

Section 3 - "The Mines"

Survival Difficulty: Class 3
》Unsafe
》Unsecure
》Moderate Entity Count

Section 3

Section 3 is a brown cave that slowly goes deeper and deeper. Sometimes you may find iron, coal, and silver throughout the cave. The deeper you go into the cave, the darker it gets, until it's completely pitch black. If you go past this point, it might get so dark that even flashlights won't make it brighter. Some parts of the cave turn gray, or even red. Occasionally, the cave may start to fall apart and cave in at some areas, but this doesn't happen often, so you probably won't have to worry about it.

Entities on this level are Smilers, Lurkers, and sometimes Hounds. There are also Burrows, which are exclusive to Section 3, though there are some reports of them being on other cave levels like Level 8, but this is currently unconfirmed. Burrows look like oversized moles that dig through the ground and when they get close to someone, they dig out to attack. Burrows usually only attack people who are disoriented or confused from being in the darkness.

Going past the point where nothing can make the cave brighter will lead to Section ???

Section ??? - "Void"

CUIcon.png

Survival Difficulty: Class Undetermined
》Mysterious Properties
》Unknown Information
》Undocumented Entities

Section ??? is hard to enter, and even harder to exit. It seems to be a labyrinth of boiler rooms and metal hallways, but there is currently no way to confirm it since the level is completely pitch black, even darker than Level 6. Machine noises can be heared throughout Section ???, and anyone who stays here for too long will start to feel paranoia and anxiety, and it will get stronger and stronger the longer you stay here. If the paranoia and anxiety is too strong, it will make one go insane very quickly. There have been reports of unintelligible whispers when in Section ???, and visions of various entities, mainly the Housekeeper and the shadow in Section 2.

The only reported exit is by randomly no-clipping through the floor to be sent to a random section (that's not Section ???), or rarely, a random level. This usually happens when on the brink of insanity. Unlike all the other sections, you can't exit by going back the way you came.

Colonies and Outposts

M.E.G. - "Monochrome Home"

  • A base of around 23 people that live in a hotel room in Section 1
  • Sometimes goes out into other sections to try to figure out the mysteries of this level
  • They are open to trading and are the first base founded in Cluster II

Entrances and Exits

Entrances

  • Find a hotel corridor in Level 1000 to enter Section 1 of Level 1001.
  • Level 999 has a really rare chance of taking you here instead of Level 1000

Exits

  • Going through a hole in any section to get to Level 1002.
  • Actively and aggressively inhaling the red fog on Section 2 for enough time will teleport you to Level 69420.
  • It is theorized that if you go insane in Section ??? it will make you noclip through the ground and take you to The Void, this is not confirmed though.
