Level 1011 "Backrooms: The Game"

Survival Difficulty: 0

This is the 12th level of cluster II, and takes the form of a 5m cubed room. Inside the room, there is a purple arcade machine with the text "BACKROOMS: THE GAME" written on it in a yellow graffiti-style text.

Level Description

This level appears as a plain blue room with an arcade machine inside. The arcade machine is in pristine condition, due to it being unbreakable. Despite it only having 2 joysticks and 4 buttons, anyone can control it as well as they would move normally. The arcade machine's screen automatically turns on when a wanderer enters the room.

Game Description

Character Selection

Upon the machine loading up, it will prompt you to select one of 9 characters. These appear as mesh-outlines of people, with the colors pink, red, orange, blue, yellow, green, purple, white and black being choosable respectively. Although each wanderer has their own room of this level, no 2 wanderers can select the same color as once. This means that there is a limit of 9 wanderers in this level at once, across all rooms.

Gameplay

You will always start of at level 0 here. You can then play with the backrooms. It is presumed to be based off a live version of the backrooms, as wanderers have been seen here. However, players that are not touching any objects cannot be seen by other wanderers except for 2 situations:

  • The wanderer is currently in Level 1011 or Level 1011.1
  • The wanderer is wearing 3.5D Glasses (See Prizes section)

Otherwise, you can explore the backrooms to your heart's content. Be warned, if you get killed by an entity (or otherwise), the arcade machine will turn off, forcing you to leave the level and come back if you want to continue. Unlike real wanderers, players have an inventory based system, and can find pixelated versions of objects on the ground. These are one of the few things that can be picked up by players (as most things cannot be moved that have been touched by a wanderer)

Interactions

  • All Radiation is replaced with "Poison", a status effect which deals 5% of your max life per second. This means it is theoretically possible to survive in the radioactive levels forever with enough almond milk.
  • Almond Milk, Royal Rations and other consumables heal your life bar instead, as player-characters have no sanity system.
  • Most entities can see you, except for any entity capable of speech
  • Entity 198can see you as well, and will bring up dialogue boxes when attempting to talk to you. However, there is no way to talk back (writing back is untested), but it can eat pixelated food items, and will thank you for it.
  • All things that are based off memories will be based off the current player, but will appear pixelated.
  • However, your memories cannot be changed. This means it is safe to walk in memory-altering levels.
  • Partygoers will reduce your max life when attacking you, so be very careful around those entities.
  • Going to Level 999 will instead play a cutscene, which will bring you to level 1000.

Prizes

In this game, there are many achievements that can be gotten. Some achievements give prizes (may vary from person to person), which will be listed below. They are always dispensed from the machine itself.

  • 3.5D Glasses: Allows wanderers wearing them to see player characters outside of the level, always obtained when you get your player-character to Level 1011, and touch your own player-character
  • Almond Coins can be obtained frequently as well.
  • Golden medallions with an image of an entity etched into it can be obtained from killing a large amount of that entity.
  • Royal Rations are dispensed upon visiting 500 different levels in one run (TODO: Check if visiting 1,000 levels gives another ration)
  • Reality Fresheners are given out rarely when visiting a new level.
  • After a large amount of progress, the screen may say "YOU ARE READY FOR THE NEXT GAME" in purple text. It will then dispense a purple ticket.

Bases

Due to the fact that only 1 person can be in each room, no bases can be set up.

Entrances

  • Noclipping in the glitched room in Level 1006 is the easiest way to get here.
  • Using a red ticket from Level 1011.1 also brings you here.

Exits

  • Leaving through the door opposite to the arcade machine brings you to the level you came from.
  • Using the purple ticket brings you to Level 1011.1
