Description[]

At its center and most populated area, Level 107 is surrounded by a cityscape of 4,000 kilometers, consisting of largely abandoned, albeit adorned from within, and ubiquitous buildings of various classifications and architectural styles, distinct depending on the region one finds themselves in. Despite its array of styles, the dominant one within Level 107 features Soviet architecture. Near the outskirts, structures stand in states of dilapidation or permanent states of construction, though contrasting from this are the ones renovated—usually located in the level's "commie blocks."

Beyond the city, the outskirts are located. The outskirts show a sharp decline of the buildings, transforming into sparse structures that nomads traditionally used during various eras; alongside this, the landscape gradually loses greenery and any natural curvature for 15 kilometers before flatlands emerge. The flatlands present a seemingly infinite barren landscape filled with concrete. The sky remains a constant ebony with no distinct celestial objects. Snow falls endlessly across the land. Additionally, researchers have found helicopters in near-pristine conditions, along with modern military equipment and supplies inside.[1] Their origins remain unknown.

A location known as "Dem Edifeceo"[2] is located near the epicenter of the city and resembles a skyscraper measuring thousands of meters tall. The Auriellen Armed Forces use it as their main base of operations within the level, and Rama Saom operates it as its primary headquarters. The interiors of Dem Edifeceo vary depending on the area, though they maintain a constant appearance of a research facility with abrupt deviations into a library or greenhouse. The Edifice has a few balconies that oversee the city. On top of Dem Edificeo is the office of the Chairman of Rama Saom and the directors of its various divisions.

Commercial structures and stores attached below many of the buildings in the city offer various supplies such as food, drinks, medkits, and clothing. Cascadans, a level-exclusive entity (see "Duchy of Cascada" and "Cascadans" below), run many of these buildings and offer such supplies in exchange for Cascadan Zhou.[3]

Conflicts, primarily the Cascadan Conflict, have caused certain places of it to become unkempt and messy. Specific streets are littered with mines, though minesweeping operations are underway.

Season-like weather patterns are present within Level 107. They are negligibly noticeable; winter emerges as the most common, followed by fall. Temperatures vary from -5°C to -29°C during those seasons. Blizzards are commonplace during the winter seasons. Other seasons, such as spring, are seldom. And the most bearable, with temperatures from 18°C to 21°C. The summer season is absent at this level.

Snow sweeps the buildings for most of the day, only ever ceasing at night. Partially cloudy to clear states occur exclusively at night and in spring. The sky in the city and outskirts is dark and full of stars. It is unknown where the snow goes, seemingly dissipating overnight.

Entities[]

Level 107's hostile entity population is limited. Hounds and Deathmoths are only located in the flatlands, though sightings have decreased dramatically over the years due to AEG-Cascadan operations. Cascadans, however, are the most prevelant entity within it.

Cascadans, also nicknamed Furcoats or Furballs, are the native inhabitants of Level 107. They are a branch of the Homo sapiens sapiens that, both by adapting to the frigid environment of the level and a now-eradicated virus, exhibit notable animal charasteristics such as furs, snouths, and tails, among other adaptions,[4] while retaining various human aspects such as bipedality and intelligence.

Cascadans act and interact near-identically to us, treating wanderers as if they were the same (albeit with more respect due to the cultural etiquette of the Duchy of Cascada and views of wanderers as 'visitors'). They can communicate with one another using an intricate language known as "Jinyi" and, as shown by the Duchy of Cascada, can form civilizations the same as us. Cascadans, like their animal counterparts, are natural hunters and possess a heightened sense of awareness, hearing, and sight.

Cascadans usually represent animals that differ depending on the instance, though they are most commonly animals from the Felidae and Canidae families. Additionally, most Cascadans have purely white fur, with exceptions for species (such as snow leopards) that naturally live in cold regions.

Cascada, officially the Duchy of Cascada, (Aurielleno: Duxeam di Cascadea, Jinyi: Kǎsùdea Kōnguó), is a client and semi-vassal state governed by the Republic of Aurielle that comprises most of the city in Level 107, certain areas of the outskirts, and recently, per legislations allowing exploration to levels beyond their homeland, Level 330.1 alongside other cold levels.

Piqenq serves as Cascada's capital, although Nomkh acts as the group's largest economic hub. The government divides Cascada into 22 provinces and 43 subsidiary areas. Approximately 46,000 Cascadans and 4,000 Humans live in Cascada.

Military

The Duchy of Cascada primarily exports valuables such as weapons attachments, weaponry, mawfish[5], and ammunition. Much of the Cascadan military uses equipment directly imported, purchased, or gifted from Aurielle.

Despite their apparent dependence on Aurielle, their domestic arms manufacturing and military hardware are known for being affordable and reliable.

Politics

Aurielle influenced Cascada to become a unitary parliamentary constitutional monarchy, where the duke serves primarily as a ceremonial monarch, while the prime minister acts as the elected head of government.

The bicameral parliament, known as the National Assembly, serves as the legislative organ. It consists of a lower House of Representatives and an upper Palace of Councillors. The government grants universal suffrage to all citizens 19 and over.

Culture

In Cascadan society, familial cohesion and respect for seniors have been paramount for much of its existence. Cascadan etiquette is strict, both regarding work and in regular scenarios. Elders and individuals of higher social status must be followed and respected, and anyone below them must consider themselves as 'inferior.' Regular Cascadans are nice and selfless due to these societal norms.

Although, luckily, the work culture of Cascada is considerably tamer than its Frontrooms equivalents, with individual rights being reserved.

The Duchy faces a prevalent issue of gender inequality. Men statistically receive higher-end jobs and more opportunities for upper positions, and domestic abuse and objectification of women previously occurred quite commonly. However, both Aurielle's pressure and protests to end gender inequality have led to a steady decline of these practices.

Aside from the Duchy of Cascada, there are various settlements, most from Aurielle.

Hacerom Lesath[]

Hacerom Lesath is the main headquarters of Rama Saom and its various divisions located in Dem Edificeo. It houses a total of 1,495 people. Interactions with the settlement are scarce due to the area being restricted to Rama Saom and Auriellen personnel, though they are typically positive and show willingness by guardsmen to assist wanderers.

Devon[]

The largest Auriellen settlement within the level with a population of 459.

Waypoint Emissary[]

With a fixed population of 45 operatives, Waypoint Emissary is an embassy created by the AEG under the Devon Agreement. It serves as the center and symbol of AEG-Cascadan cooperation and trade post-Cascadan Conflict.

Entrances and Exits[]

Entrances[]

  • Under certain conditions, in Level 213 during Freeze Dining, a cold metal door may appear that will lead here. Upon entering, one will find themself outside of a store called 'ID';
  • Secluded areas in Level 82 eventually morph into this level. Wanderers usually find themselves in alleys;
  • Peculiarly cold areas within Level 330's Empty Mall will lead here.

Exits[]

  • Entering a hotel called "Sonne" will take wanderers to Level 330.1;
  • Deeper areas of Huidong[6] have undergrounds entrances that lead to The Delta Mall;
  • Rarely, no-clipping in bowling alleys within the level will lead to Level 499;
  • Stairs in Cheojin, Jarkim, Kiangke, and various other cities in Level 107, Cascada with the label "Tabù Cistern" will led to Level 107.1;
  • Noclipping through heavy-duty electrical equipment sends one to Level 169.

Footnotes

  1. It is arguably among the sole reasons Aurielle continues to explore the region.
  2. Aurielleno for The Edifice.
  3. The basic monetary unit of the Duchy of Cascada, there are many stores within the level that offer Zhou's in exchange for objects.
  4. However, Cascadans do not have whiskers.
  5. A special type of fish only found in Level 107 that is used widely in Auriellen and Cascadan MREs for their nutrition.
  6. A Cascadan city/settlement within the level.

the talks that prefounded the creation of cascadans were insane

also here's some quick facts bout cascadans;

  • Cascadans really like fish and milk
  • Cascadans cut their fur when overgrown, the excess fur is the given to Aurielle, which is then made into clothing and stuff
  • In Aurielle, Cascadans are among one of the few entities that can serve in the military (both non-combat and combat roles). They are also like one of the two-three (idk havent decided how many) entities that are serving in the Auriellen Security Council Special Forces.
  • Cascadans can eat various foods animals cant, such as chocolate.
