Level 1170 is an extremely dangerous and enigmatic level of the backrooms. It is a vast, open sea that is constantly pulling you down to the depths. It's low entity count does not make it any less deadly, though. Your lungs feel like they are constantly filling up with water, and there are very few safe places in this level.
Description
The Top
One of the few pictures taken of 1170
Level 1170 is a large, seemingly endless sea. The only sound in this level is the water of the sea splashing, and at times, a faint whisper. Your lungs always feel like they are filled with water, but not enough to drown you. However, it is not advised to actually consume the water in this level, as it does not appear to be average water. Whether it is harmful or not is currently unknown, but it has many unique properties to it. The 'water' is extremely light, making it so if you do go under, you won't get crushed by the water pressure, but going down is not advised. Many crates of supplies such as almond water will be seen occasionally, and it is one of the few sources of drinkable substances. Rafts also float by occasionally, but it is hard to see them because of a strange fog. When the rafts do come by, they are very frail and the wood is coming apart. It is always night, and the water is very cold, so it is best to find a raft as soon as possible. This level is very isolated, and there are very few people here. The waves are always very rough, and they never stop. Occasionally, the fog clears up, and this is the best time to find other survivors.
The Depths
The depths (not to be confused with The Depths that reside in the level), is a pitch black part of the level, at the floor of the ocean. As stated above, due to the light weight of the water, the only thing dragging you down is The Depths. Your vision will be very blurred, and you will move much slower down here. The water in your lungs will get much worse, but if you make it down here, that is the least of your problems. Not much has been documented about the depths, but it is known that is is very dangerous. It is swarmed with entities such as Skinwalkers, Smilers, Hounds, and many more entities that have adapted to the water. Some have even grown fins, or flippers. There, you can also meet the level exclusive entity here, appropriately named The Depths. Due to the constant pulling down, you will most likely always be on the ground here, and the pulling is so great that you wont be able to get back up. It is not recommended to visit here, even in the most dire of circumstances. Only 3 sent down here have come back to document it. This level is very similar to level !, but some say it is even worse in ways. There is no almond water, and no way to run. Those lucky survivors got pulled down into a hole, and managed to find their way to level 7, level 30, and the poolrooms.
The Abyss
Nothing has been documented about the abyss, but it's existence is known after a group of two went though the hole, and only one returned. It is presumed to be the home of The Depths, and the unlucky few who came here have not came back.
Entities
Most recurring entities can be found in the depths of this level, such as Smilers, Skin-Stealers, Insanities, and Hounds. However, there is atleast one level-exclusive entity, The Depths, and is most likely one of the biggest entities in the backrooms. It's true size is unknown though, as only it's hand is present in the documented levels.
Colonies And Outposts
All colonies listed live on repaired rafts, even though this level is not ideal for life, they like the peace and tranquility. Or the isolation.
The Fishermen
- Friendly
- Open to trading for their strange fish. The fish are safe to eat, but they are not found anywhere else in the level.
- 9 members, and open for more.
The Outcasts
- Aggressive
- Made up of traitors, psychopaths, and even some entities.
- Open to new members if the members "Are open to sacrificing their soul" to them. It is unknown the process they go through when doing this.
Entrances and Exits
Entrances
- To enter, accidently drown on any water-related level.
- You have a 4.5% chance of clipping here when trying to noclip to any water-related level.
Exits
- Fall through the hole in the depths this is the riskiest way, as not only will you have to enter the entity-infested depths, but it has a 25% chance of teleporting you to the abyss.
- When the fog stops, go underwater in an area that is still foggy. This will send you to level 30. This is most likely the safest way.
- There may be in exit in the abyss, but again, this is very risky.
- Find an underwater cave to level 1170.1
