Audio Conversation in Level 133 Between M.E.G. Operatives Steven Heissman and Drake Frewnby
Date: 9.24.2020
Steven Heissman: Drake, come look at this email. Another threat against the M.E.G. How original. I doubt it's credible in any way.
Drake Frewnby: [Scoffs] You can say that again. Even if it was credible, Gestalt Arsenal's defenses are way too rigid. I doubt anyone could drive us out by force without a seven nation army.
Steven Heissman: Seven nation army? Come on. This is a M.E.G. base. No other established organization even comes close to penetrating our defenses. The P.E.A. could launch a full-out assault and we would win with little to no casualties.
[Laughter]
Drake Frewnby: Their funeral, I guess. This place is too cold anyway. [Winks]
Level 133 is the 134th level of the Backrooms; originally the location of one of the M.E.G.'s highest-security outposts, it has now been reduced to ruins after a massive assault. For logging purposes, all three versions of this page—before settlement, during settlement, and after settlement—will be displayed. The M.E.G. understands that the fall of Gestalt was a major shock to many, and it is crucial that the history of this base and the level associated with it be visible to the public.
The level's history is separated into 3 chapters—Birth, Gestalt, Decay. Birth is the first draft of Level 133, before the M.E.G. created the Gestalt Arsenal base. After the M.E.G. finished building the base and established a temporary home for many wanderers, Level 133's page was revised, entering the second chapter—Gestalt. Unfortunately, events concerning a rebellion and siege culminated in the destruction of Gestalt Arsenal, leaving barely anything left in the third revision of the page, Decay.
Unfortunately, no known image of this level exists. The harsh weather renders wanderers' cameras useless.

Description
Background
Level 133 appears as a large tundra—icy and cold. Vegetation is nearly non-existent in this level, as the extremely cold temperatures, usually around -20°C, create an extremely difficult environment for plants and trees to survive in. Going underground may provide temporary relief from the temperature, but it's still extremely cold. Most wanderers here risk their life, entering this level to extract the diamonds found underground—because of the danger associated with mining these specific diamonds, they are worth millions. Others have seen rumors of a shortcut to Level 3999, which many have proclaimed to be an exit to reality. Both endeavors are strongly discouraged by the M.E.G. because of immense danger, but many wanderers have disobeyed the advice.
While a day-night cycle exists on this level, nighttime is nearly three times as long as daytime. Without a heat source during the nighttime, temperatures will likely drop below -50°C, becoming incredibly dangerous to any living beings nearby. It is very common to see clouds in the sky that can cause snowing, but occasionally, a strong wind will hit, causing a blizzard. These blizzards occur somewhat frequently, lasting approximately 6 hours each with a 30-minute downtime. Being outdoors during a blizzard will almost guarantee death—the snow will be almost 9 feet deep at the peak of the blizzard, slowly suffocating any wanderer unlucky enough to be caught, as gravity here is seven times that of Earth's.
Upon entry to this level, a noticeable ticking noise can be heard every second during the blizzard's downtime. While the sound starts off quiet right after the end of a blizzard, impossible for humans to hear without special equipment, as the blizzard's onslaught draws closer, the ticking gets louder, on average becoming unbearable to listen to 5 minutes before the blizzard begins.
Because of the increased gravity of this level, time appears to pass by slower, obeying the Theory of Relativity. Every second that passes in this level is a minute everywhere else. While the blizzard lasts 6 hours to those inside the level, to people not currently inside the level, the blizzard will last 360 hours. Similarly, while the blizzard's downtime is 30 minutes while inside this level, it is approximately 30 hours to those not inside the level. The switch in gravity and time passage occurs immediately after entry, so it is not recommended to enter Level 133 if there is less than 10 hours left before the blizzard, as you'll have less than 10 minutes to prepare. Confusion between the two times has led to casualties—many wanderers unaware of the difference in time passage have accidentally entered the level during a blizzard, suffering a quick death.
To reduce casualties, the M.E.G. has placed down a timer in front of the level entrance that displays the current status of the level and how much time is left before the next transition. If the timer display is red (during the Blizzard phase and the Downtime phase when 10 hours are left on the timer), entry is not safe, as the blizzard would pose a major risk to your life.
In addition, because of the nature of this level, entry to Level 133 is not recommended at this time if you are not a M.E.G. operative or researcher. The M.E.G. is currently working on building a base to make diamond extraction easier and provide temporary shelter to wanderers.
The Tundra
Anyone who enters this level can expect imminent danger—combined with cold temperatures, annoying ticking, and the threat of a blizzard, numerous entities roam this level during the blizzard downtimes. They appear to be immune to the cold and heavily resemble Arctic animals from the Frontrooms, but they have more distorted features and higher stamina.
The Polars, which resemble polar bears, are much more deadly than their real-life counterpart. Their teeth have been replaced with fangs, their eyes are a bloody red, and they will growl at their prey for approximately 2 seconds before relentlessly chasing and devouring the victim.
The Pengs, which resemble penguins, travel in groups, quickly sliding across the icy surface for fun with sharp beaks capable of impaling anyone in their way. Their speed can reach that of a bullet, making it mandatory to constantly keep your guard up to avoid being impaled. While they are not inherently hostile and generally ignore humans, unaware wanderers can easily be killed by them if not careful.
The Dol-Finz, which resemble dolphins, dig through the rock below as a quick means to travel. With how strong this level's gravity is, the rock above should quickly collapse into the tunnel created by the Dol-Finz; however, their tail has the special ability to fill in the tunnel behind them with rocks. This cannot be explained. Capable of seeing wanderers both on the surface and underground somehow, these entities will target humans—presumably their next meal. Upon seeing a wanderer on the surface, the Dol-Fin will resurface, open its mouth, then dive directly onto the victim before it and the victim disappear into the ground below. For wanderers underground, the Dol-Fin will charge and open its mouth, devouring the victim.
Colonies and Outposts
As of now, there are no colonies or outposts on this level. However, the M.E.G. has proposed building a base here due to popular demand; construction is slated to start on January 3, 2016 and will take approximately 1 year to finish. It will hold 300 maximum occupants and will simultaneously act as homes for diamond miners and wanderers. 5 operatives will be required to oversee the base's operations.
Entrances and Exits
Entrances
- While entering this level is not recommended, strolling through Level 150 will eventually lead you a garden of psychoactive mushrooms, with a M.E.G. branded timer next to it. This is your way in. Take a white psychoactive mushroom appear here.
Exits
- The only way out is back the way you came—unfortunately, there will be no door behind you, but simply walking into the invisible barrier where the door would be will transport you back to Level 150.
- An exit to Level 3999 is rumored to exist, but this is unconfirmed. Rumors started solely because of a small little poem written by a 5-year-old boy. The boy claims to see visions and hear voices, and his writing ability surpasses that of even some college students. As a result, many wanderers have hailed his poem as prophecy.
Where the infinite garden resides,
Roses, orchids, and mushrooms on all sides.
The white plants shall be ingested,
To appear at a terrain of ice and snow.
From there, you shall be tested.
Understand that this is no easy feat,
With nothing but blood diamonds in tow.
But if the blizzard can be beat,
Come to the arcade where you shall be free.
Coincidentally, white mushrooms started growing in Level 150 shortly before this poem was discovered. However, the M.E.G. suspects foul play, believing the 5-year-old is not who he claims to be.

John Doe: Anyone there?.
[Wind and a constant ticking noise can be heard.]
Operative: Hello, what appears to be the issue?
John Doe: I believe I have made some… progress on the mysterious poem written by that 5-year-old.
Operative: Alright, let's hear it.
John Doe: So I followed the first two lines of the poem and made my way to the infinite garden, also known as Level 150. However, I realized that some of the mushrooms were white, which is completely inconsistent with the type of mushrooms that are supposed to grow there.
Operative: Seems odd. Let me guess, you ate those mushrooms?
John Doe Correct. After that, I appeared in some… icy wasteland, consistent with the poem's 3rd and 4th lines.
Operative: Seems like you've found a new level. I'll send a few researchers to your location in about 10 minutes. In the meantime, could you find an exit? The researchers will take over from here.
John Doe: Thank you… Unfortunately, I don't think- Call off the rescue mission.
[The wind grows stronger and the ticking grows louder.]
Operative: Why?
John Doe (muffled by strong winds): It's- the storm. Too. Dangerous. Need to leave.
Operative: What's going on there?
<TRANSMISSION CUT>
The research team arrived at Level 150, eager to document the new terrain and give the icy wasteland a level number. However, they found John Doe in the mushroom garden suffering from hypothermia, covered in snow. He would stutter with every word, but he managed to inform the researchers of the problem. "Strong storm, avoid at all costs," he said.

Luckily, the M.E.G. has developed a base—Gestalt Arsenal—not too far away from the entrance, giving wanderers and miners alike a temporary place to stay to escape the cold.
Being outdoors during a blizzard will almost guarantee death—the snow will be almost 9 feet deep at the peak of the blizzard, slowly suffocating any wanderer unlucky enough to be caught, as gravity here is seven times that of Earth's. The M.E.G. strongly urges everyone to return to the base when the blizzard starts; it is completely safe from the storm.
When that sound starts becoming unbearable, that is your cue to enter the base, as the devastating blizzard will start within minutes.
Because of the increased gravity of this level, time appears to pass by slower, obeying the Theory of Relativity. Every second that passes in this level is a minute everywhere else. Luckily, the M.E.G. has developed a way to simulate Earth's gravity inside the base—therefore, time passes at normal speed while inside the base. While the blizzard lasts 6 hours to those stuck outside, to people who are not currently inside the level or are currently inside the base, the blizzard will last 360 hours. Similarly, while the blizzard's downtime is 30 minutes while outside, it is approximately 30 hours to those who are not inside the level or are inside the base. The switch in gravity and time passage occurs immediately after entry, so it is not recommended to enter Level 133 if there is less than 10 hours left before the blizzard, as you'll have less than 10 minutes to retreat to the base.
The M.E.G. recommends that all visitors to this level enter Gestalt Arsenal—it is currently the only semblance of safety in Level 133.
Luckily, the M.E.G. has found out that these entities tend to avoid low-frequency noises. After implementing a system to constantly play low-frequency noises outside of the base, entities have been seen less frequently around the area, having retreated to the mountains.
The Polars, which resemble polar bears, are much more deadly than their real-life counterpart. Their teeth have been replaced with fangs, their eyes are a bloody red, and they will growl at their prey for approximately 2 seconds before relentlessly chasing and devouring the victim. If one chases you, run towards the base—the noise will stop the Polar dead in its tracks.
Because of the low-frequency noises and their general passivity, the Pengs are no longer a threat in this level.
This is arguably the most dangerous entity here—wandering away from the base puts you at high risk of becoming the Dol-Finz' next meal.
Colonies and Outposts
Gestalt Arsenal
Gestalt Arsenal is a M.E.G. base created in Level 133 because of rising popularity concerning a possible exit to Level 3999 and the abundance of diamonds. It holds 300 maximum occupants and simultaneously acts as a home for diamond miners and wanderers. The base's operations are overseen by 5 M.E.G. operatives, each handling a different component of the base:
- Steven Heissman: Handles any emails or physical letters sent to the base—can be seen on a computer all day reading messages from concerned wanderers and replying. If unavailable, Drake Frewnby takes over as the email reader.
- Drake Frewnby: Secondary email reader in case Heissman is unavailable. In addition to the email reading, Frewnby also handles the control room, making sure that everything—the heating system, the simulated gravity, and the M.E.G. timer at the entrance of the level work as expected.
- Allison Granith: Monitors the security cameras; she is in charge of making sure everyone's comfortable and no fights break out. If a fight breaks out, she will attempt to de-escalate and may call for back-up. She checks the outside security cameras every so often, opening the doors for any wanderers who ring the bell and locking down the base when a threat is seen.
- Charles Black: Logs the daily functions of the base—he will constantly walk around, reporting any issues to Frewnby and discussing any suspicious individuals with Granith. He is also in charge of making announcements to the base residents if necessary.
- Angelina Simmons: The front security guard of the base, Simmons keeps watch at the entrance of the base, running all entrants through a metal detector and an automatic search to check for contraband—guns, drugs, chemicals. Any contraband is confiscated and turned over to Granith.

However, the M.E.G. suspects foul play; the "5-year-old" who originally wrote this still appears to be 5 years old and shows no signs of aging, despite currently being 10 years old. He is currently detained at Gestalt Alpha, completing tests to verify that he is human. His detainment coincidentally has stopped white mushrooms from growing in Level 150–more tests are needed.

Audio Conversation in Level 133 Between M.E.G. Operatives Charles Black, Drake Frewnby, and Allison Granith
Date: 10.23.2020
Time: 9:32 AM
Charles Black: Drake and Allison, I believe I have found something that might pique your interest. Angelina gave it to me. It might be related to the email threat Steven discovered.
Drake Frewnby: Oh? Someone's actually going to carry out on a threat to raid Gestalt Arsenal? Good luck with that. Our security is unmatched.
Allison Granith: Should I lock down?
Charles Black: Well, no. Not yet… Actually, have a look at this first.
[Black takes a blood-stained diamond out of his pocket, gently placing it on the table.]
Drake Frewnby: It's just a diamond with blood on it. What's so significant?
Charles Black: Admittedly, I didn't think much of this diamond at first, but I took this back to Level 11 for DNA testing by our research team. It is stained with the blood of exactly 14 people, all missing wanderers last seen in Gestalt Alpha.
Drake Frewnby: So I assume these 14 people were murdered by the same person?
Charles Black: Presumably so. However, the research team could not identify anyone else's DNA on the diamond, so the case is currently unsolved.
Allison Granith: Huh, seems off. Where did Angelina find the diamond?
Charles Black: It was placed right in front of the base entrance, appearing suddenly after the blizzard with no explanation yesterday. Could you check the security camera logs for yesterday?
Allison Granith: Sure, I'll do that. Just to be clear, you want me to check for anyone who could have placed the diamond?
Charles Black: Yes. And while you're there, could you grab me a cup of coffee?
Allison Granith: Alright, give me a few minutes.
[Granith leaves the room.]
Charles Black: While she's doing that, could you ask Steven if he saw any more suspicious emails lately?
Drake Frewnby: Sure.
[Frewnby attempts to leave the room, but is stopped by Granith, who suddenly barges in.]
Allison Granith (Panicking): Charles, the security cameras are jammed. They display nothing but static.
Charles Black: Ugh. Not again. That's the third time this month! Drake, could you fix it?
Drake Frewnby: Sure. It'll take around 30 minutes but I think I'll be able to fix it much quicker if the issue is the same as last time.

Allison Granith: Will do.

The M.E.G. recommends that everyone stay away from this level due to some unforeseen circumstances that led to the destruction of Gestalt Alpha. The level itself is not habitable in any way, and the only safe place no longer exists, being destroyed in a siege.

In addition to the email reading, Frewnby also handled the control room, making sure that everything—the heating system, the simulated gravity, and the M.E.G. timer at the entrance of the level worked as expected. His body was found in the destroyed control room on 11/2/2020; cause of death was a gunshot to the head.
- Allison Granith: Monitored the security cameras; she was in charge of making sure everyone was comfortable and that no fights broke out. If a fight broke out, she would attempt to de-escalate and sometimes called for back-up. She checked the outside security cameras every so often, opening the doors for any wanderers who rang the bell and locking down the base when a threat was seen. Declared dead as of 10/23/2020; her head (with a bullet inside of it) was mailed to the research lab at Level 11, but the rest of her body cannot be found.
- Charles Black: Logged the daily functions of the base—he would constantly walk around, reporting any issues to Frewnby and discussing any suspicious individuals with Granith. He was also in charge of making announcements to the base residents if necessary. Declared missing as of 10/23/2020. Presumed dead.
- Angelina Simmons: The front security guard of the base, Simmons kept watch at the entrance of the base, running all entrants through a metal detector and an automatic search to check for contraband—guns, drugs, chemicals. Any contraband was confiscated and turned over to Granith. Her body was found badly burned inside the machinery used for contraband searching on 11/2/2020; cause of death was poison gas.
Unfortunately, an incident known as the October Riot, where a group of mysterious people broke into Gestalt Alpha, executed the operatives, and burned down the place. Survivors of the incident described the leader as short—no more than 3 feet tall. He had messy hair and a high-pitched voice, barking orders to his henchmen, who were much taller than him and wore Guy Fawkes masks. The leader himself opted to wear a Papierkrattler mask. According to many, he and his henchmen had a strange white aura surrounding their bodies, capable of turning anyone into his servant by simply grabbing their forehead and doing a hand motion which onlookers described as "sucking up the victims' energies". Motive is unknown, but he would constantly mutter to himself about mistreatment under the hands of the M.E.G., so revenge appears to be the leading explanation.
As for the base, there is nearly nothing left. The ruins have all been covered in snow by now, with a few steel pillars still occasionally sticking out. Scrap metal can be seen around the area, and the M.E.G. has been working on extracting that scrap metal from the destroyed base to use for other projects.

However, the M.E.G. suspected foul play; the "5-year-old" who originally wrote this still appeared to be 5 years old and showed no signs of aging, despite being 10 years old at his last appearance. He was detained at Gestalt Alpha, completing tests to verify that he was human. His detainment coincidentally stopped white mushrooms from growing in Level 150. However, during the October Riot, Operative Charles Black reported him missing while checking on his cell.

[Gunshots ring out.]
Charles Black: Alright, is this thing on? Oh, we're recording now. I've decided to record an audio log during this unprecedented event in the case my superiors find it useful.
[Screaming can be heard, faint voices can be heard upstairs.]
Voice #1 (Low-pitched male): Come on, what's the hold up? It can't be that difficult to find the diamond stash.
Voice #2 (Low-pitched male): Hey. Don't even think about it. We're not here for the diamonds. We're here for the M.E.G. information stash.
Voice #3 (High-pitched, Childish): Gentlemen, what did I tell you about starting arguments? I'm the leader here. Did you… forget already?
[2 Gunshots]
Voice #3: Stupid wastes of oxygen.
Charles Black: Alright, I'm in close proximity to the perpetrators. Give me a moment. I need to rescue the detained prisoners first.
[Screaming, Gunshots, Doors slam open]
Voice #3: Hello there.
Drake Frewnby(?): Hey, I don't rememb-
[Gunshot, Footsteps]
Charles Black: God, this isn't good.
[Black races downstairs; the voices and chaos are drowned out.]
Charles Black: Huh. The door to our lab is open.
[Black steps inside and gasps. He takes out a phone and attempts to dial Allison Granith.]
Charles Black: Come on, pick up the phone.
[Phone buzzes and hangs up.]
Charles Black: Damnit. The testing labs are all open and everyone has escaped. How wonderful.
Loudspeaker: This is an automated message. Lockdown mode activated. Lockdown mode activated. Please remain calm and make your way to the nearest hiding spot.
[The fire alarm goes off; the lights short-circuit minutes later.]
Charles Black: Shit. The power’s out. The wi-fi connection's going to be lost within a couple of seconds. Ugh.
<LOST CONNECTION>

Subject: The End.
Is this all you operatives care about? Your reputations? No concern for the health of others, no concern for the wellness of the wanderers?
"Government" of the Backrooms my ass. You do nothing but confiscate harmless items, hide information from the public, and step on others to achieve your own ends.
Am I a joke to you? When you detained me in that stupid Gestalt base of yours, did you feel any sympathy? Or was I just a test subject… forced to endure hours of calculus problem-solving simply because my intelligence and language was higher than that of an average human.
Will you read the entire email, listen to my concerns, and act accordingly? Or will you just roll your eyes, mutter some derogatory terms to yourself, and ignore the email?
Will you ever learn? Or stay within your own backwards view, repeating information you want to hear, even if such information could be false?
Hopefully, you choose the former—otherwise, further destruction will be exacted.
Signed,
XXXXX
Ironically, the M.E.G. censored the composer of this email, which was partially a hit piece against the M.E.G.'s censorship. When we inquired as to why the sender was confidential, the M.E.G. refused to answer the question, making up the poor excuse that “It's business here." Investigations are on-going. It is clear the M.E.G. has already found the perpetrator… but refuses to inform the public for whatever reason.
