Level 148 is the 149th level of the backrooms. It is currently not known who first discovered this level.

Description

Level 148 is what seems to be an infinite set of houses. You're spawned inside a random house in Level 148 in a random room (For example Kitchens, Bedrooms, Bathrooms, and others). It is impossible to see, feel or make contact with other wanderers here, which naturally decreases sanity at a varying speed, depending on the person. However, bringing Almond Water is optional since it's in abundance. The level's length is unknown, but it's expected to have more than 1,000,000 square miles (1,609,344 kilometres). It's a good place to stay and live, but it is not recommendable to stay at this level for too long, as there is still one single entity lurking through Level 148. All houses of Level 148 are observed to be at night.

To start traveling house to house, open the door from the house you started, which appears to be the entrance door of the house. After you do that, you will find yourself in a different house, and if you repeat the process, you get the same results. Strangely, The doors have different sides with different textures and colors. Rarely, some houses can be seen separated by front yards. Houses seem to be from different countries, for example, Brazil, America, Russia, Mexico, Chile, Germany, United Kingdom, Japan, and other countries, and have text according to their languages. All houses seem to be from 2000 - 2021, but rarely some 1920's era houses can be observed.

Electronic objects such as TVs, Radios, or Microwaves work here, however, they have anomalous properties. All of them belong to unknown brands such as "AppleTech", "Brainpower", “HQR”, or “MikuSense”.

There's a lot of supplies at this level, which makes this level a spot for wanderers to stock on supplies, and, as you're alone, you can get them without any competition. Food is in abundance, since most of the houses contain refrigerating devices or other locations you can stock food. Supplies include medications from the front rooms (majority of them work normally, but be careful as some can possess anomalous properties), Food (food can be low or abundant depending on the house) Almond Water, and various other objects.

For more information, see List Of Objects.

The Home Invader

The Home Invader is a very tall pitch-black humanoid entity that lurks through Level 148. It has long arms and one big eye. Their pupils move everywhere around their eye, but upon finding you, it will give all of it's attention to you. A black fog surrounds them, made by a unknown element, that has been confirmed to cause no other harm besides slow sanity lost upon being inhaled. Named by an unknown wanderer, The Home Invader is not a very dangerous entity, at least if they do not encounter you.

You can know they're near if the lights go off. When It goes off they're most likely 12 houses away from you. If that happens, quickly run through houses and stay far away from them. This entity is slow, with a speed that can be compared to a human's normal walk, but this speed may double, maybe triple if the entity is looking at you. This entity cannot hear anything, so you can make as much noise as you want. But be aware his vision is, according to further study, 12x more efficient than an Eagle's vision.

If it is too late and they're already in your current house, quickly find a hiding spot. If they do not see you, you should be fine.

No other entity can enter in this level besides The Home Invader. The only hound who somehow spawned in a bedroom was presumed to be hunted down by The Home Invader, and consumed, since only the hound's bones were discovered. This makes The Home Invader an entity not to be underestimated.

List of objects

Level 148 houses many useful resources, some of them are:

  • Almond Water (abundant, mostly in fridges);
  • Food supplies such as chips, beef, vegetables, fruits, canned food, Cereals, etc. Some foods are packaged, and require cooking;
  • Pencils and Pens;
  • Paper;
  • TV's that can show alternate reality versions of reality shows, TV shows that seem to not exist and rarely static, most TVs are dumb TVs, others are Smart TVs with various operating systems (Android, webOS, Tizen, SmartCast, NetCast, Orsay, VIDAA, and more);
  • Microwaves that does the opposite of a normal microwave (Freezes the food);
  • Fridges, that work normally;
  • Flashlights;
  • Computers running operating systems that look like frontrooms operating systems from 2010-2022 (most commonly an unnamed Windows 10 like OS) that also contains the group chat (This is the only way you can communicate with other wanderers);
  • Medications, that can or not have anomalous properties (for example, some can give you a headache instead of curing it).
  • all sorts of clothes

The list may update as the level is further explored. The objects are all yours to loot since no wanderers can take the objects you're seeing, so it's a nice level for you if you hate sharing.

Colonies & Outposts

It is impossible to form a group or colony here, but it is entirely possible to live here. Many people use this level to gather resources to restaurant stabilishments scattered across the backrooms, medications for selling or for Groups Of Interest, and get paid (usually with weapons or almond water).

Entrances And Exits

Entrances

You can enter this level if you successfully find an unlocked house in Level 9, and sleep inside of it. Although it is a difficult task since Level 9 gives a lot of paranoia. The easiest way is to think about going back home in Level 18. There are probably other entrances for this level, If you find one, contact the M.E.G immediately.

Exits

No-Clipping into a computer can get you into Level 4, And you can also noclip into the negative levels, although this is not recommended. Finding a house with the Level 0 wallpaper and then turning off all the lights in the house, then closing your eyes transports you to a dark location in Level 0, or can also get you to Level 1 with a small chance. Also, finding a house with a baby room has a small chance to transport you to Level 944 once you open the door.

Level Sounds

On 24/11/2020, Group Of Interest "M.E.G" sent an agent to Level 148 to explore and report any new findings. The agent reported a curious change among Level 148 - Sometimes, strange sounds would be heard around the level. They usually don't play for much time, but are still quite unnerving, according to travelers. The sounds reported were:

- Rain, that doesn't appear when you check the windows of the level.;

- "In The Hall Of The Mountain King" playing in the distance, but It's always in the start part. This has no relations to The Mountain King entity;

- Clown music can be heard sometimes in the basements;

- Footsteps;

- Hum-Buzzing, even when the house doesn't contain fluorescent lighting;

- Glass shattering, then after 5 seconds the same sound plays, this time reversed.

FIXES:

- made the home invader spookier oooo;

- added some stuff i guess;

- Removed Herobrine.
