Description
Level 153 is a huge office building that spans an estimated 200 million miles. It is filled with desks, vintage technology, hallways, doorways, stairs, elevators, clocks, fans, fire extinguishers, bookshelves, chairs, and carpets. Some people in this level take advantage of the computers and other technologies that are in this level and use it to communicate and use the internet. This makes a colony or outposts far more powerful if they have access to them. For this reason, computers are very well protected, and you rarely come across one randomly. Some computers are marked with the sign of the colony or outpost that owns them.
Overall, the level is very safe. Dangerous entities are few and far between, and even so, they're slowly getting eradicated by the Republic of Level 153, The Settlers, and about every other colony or outpost on this level. Because of this, it's one of the safest levels you can find and is one the most populated levels in the Backrooms.
The most dangerous things at this level aren't the entities, but the huge fires that cover enormous sections of the level and cause chaos and destruction for everyone on the level. They are known to last for weeks and burn through everything in their path, including computers. It can't be stopped with water from the Frontrooms, it has to be specifically from the Backrooms. The reason is unknown, as well as why they even start.
They're even more detrimental outside the area that's burning. This because intense heat in certain levels, like fire, can lead to Air Cuts, which cuts off all oxygen in certain areas of the level.
The Library of Time
On the level's bookshelves, you can find books written from before 5000 BC to the 1940s, and also journals and logs of wanderers who braved the Backrooms. These contain helpful tips about surviving the Backrooms. These books are ordered chronologically from the center to the edge of the level. People have reported seeing books depicting lost cities and sunken continents near 33000 BC- 210000 BC. Before that, in the 46000000 BC area, books are seeming to describe human-like beings landing on a blue planet presumed to be Earth. All the books before that do not have illustrations.
Near the edge of the level, there is a book in an unknown language that is thought to unlock the deep secrets of the universe and the Backrooms. The cover does not have the title. Only a complex mandala with a star in the middle made of an unknown metal. The star emits light with no known source of electricity or power. Two cryptographers who stumbled into this level are working on this, but have made little headway. In 2014, they sent copies of these books out into the internet with a plea to decrypt them disguised as an intelligence test.
Hundreds of cryptographers are on the job. Only two words have been decrypted: Liber Primus, meaning "First Book", "Great Book", or "Prime Book". The entire level is encased in bright neon blue wall. If you get close to it, you'll hear faint noises of arcade machines. If you stand in front of it long enough, it will slowly attract you to it. If you walk into the wall without stopping you'll be transported to Level 3999.
Among Us Section
Recently a section of the level was discovered by the Republic of Level 153 that has darker brown walls with drawings of characters from the video game Among Us. The drawings appear to be made with a black Expo marker, so it is theorized that they were drawn by a wanderer. However, they have some unusual properties. Being in an area with Among Us on the walls will slowly cause one to lose their sanity. They will begin to see Among Us everywhere, and will eventually seek out entities in order to die. Noclipping into a wall with Among Us on it will transport one to Level 303.
The Many Sticc's of Level 153
A Sticc can sometimes be found at the entrance. Specifically, at the computer, watching "memes I found in the backrooms" on YouTube. You can join in, and watch the memes with him, but it is advised you don't and move right on.
