Description[]

Fastfood

Level 167 as it appears upon entrance.

Fastfood

Level 167 consists of a small, enclosed room that closely resembles an empty fast-food restaurant cashier counter. The room is predominantly colored in shades of yellow, giving it a slightly artificial atmosphere.

The room's structure and dimensions are cramped with just enough space for a few individuals to stand comfortably inside. The walls are covered with yellow wallpaper, and the floor is made out of well maintained, indestructible wooden tiles. The room smells faintly of grease and spice.

No menus or personnel are visible anywhere on the level, despite the fact that it appears to be a fast-food establishment. The entire level also appears to be devoid of any decorations or marketing. Additionally, this is one of the few levels in the Backrooms that contains air conditioning, maintaining the level at a comfortable 16 degrees Celsius (approximately 61 degrees Fahrenheit).

When you enter this level, you'll see a thin, immaculate cashier counter with fixed ceiling lights, an empty donation box, and an inoperable payment terminal. Classical music and a soft, female voice instructing you to place an order can be heard from an unknown source. Ignoring this voice will cause it to repeat indefinitely until an order is placed.

Upon orally submitting your request, the music will abruptly stop and be replaced with a piercing silence, only to come back a few minutes later. The voice will then announce "Thank you for eating with us! We hope to see you again soon. Have a nice day!". An empty plate and an empty cardboard cup will then appear on the counter, no matter what you ordered.

A monitor, possibly for showing the status of the wanderer's order, is visible above the counter. However, this monitor is rendered useless because no requests can be fulfilled; all that appears is empty dishware. A minifridge presumably filled with consumables can be seen across the counter, but access to this appliance is rendered impossible as it is blocked off by an invisible barrier.

It is unknown how or why the level does this; however, it is theorized that this level is supposed to trick wanderers into believing they have reached a safe, habitable spot. Though this level poses no entity or environmental hazard, the stark lack of resources proves this room to be unfit for long-term habitation.

The most common exit point from this level is an ordinary wooden door facing the counter. The level also creates new copies of itself for every wanderer who enters it, making the establishment of a colony or outpost impractical and thus making every wanderer who finds themselves in this place experience a feeling of loneliness.

Anomalies[]

Despite the fact that each time a wanderer visits the level a new version of it is created, items left behind by previous wanderers can be found in the exact same spot they were left at. Things left behind include letters, clothing, blunt objects, etc. This phenomenon explains how the notes that were retrieved and are included below in the article were discovered.

Entities[]

The Voice[]

Though this level is believed to be completely devoid of entities, some wanderers allege that the voice that instructs you to make a request is in itself a sentient entity. This notion is supported by the fact that the voice no longer calls out to the wanderer if he or she has submitted an order, departed, and returned to the level at any given time. Some people believe that this happens because the voice can recall if they have been inside the level previously or if it is their first time, adding to the hypothesis that the level is designed to fool wanderers into thinking they've arrived at a livable location.

However, most people believe that this is likely false since, despite the previously indicated behavior, the voice appears to operate in a fairly mechanical and predictable manner, implying that it is merely programmed to do so rather than being sentient. Attempts to pinpoint the source of the voice or why it is present have all been declared inconclusive thus far.

Addendum[]

Below is a recovered note left behind by an unknown wanderer.

What a disappointment. When I first entered this level, I was ecstatic. How could I not be? I hadn't eaten in two days. And it's not like my last meal was particularly fulfilling, either. Not to mention the fact that I had to scavenge it off some dead guy, and it was already half eaten.. but, I digress.

Anyway, as I was saying, I saw this place and the monitor, and I heard a voice, and I couldn't believe my senses. I had arrived at a RESTAURANT?! For FREE?! But of course, nothing is as it seems in this place, blah, blah, blah. So this woman through the speaker tells me to order something, right? And at first I was shocked because. like I said, I couldn't believe it. So I just stood there, not knowing whether or not to answer, but this woman wouldn't shut up. So I voiced my order (did I forget to mention that this place has no menu?), and then everything went dead silent. The music. The voice. It felt really creepy.

Then I waited for like, what, 10 minutes? I was about to take the door opposite the counter to leave this sad ass place, when the music came back on. And the woman said something like "thank you for ordering" I don't know, I don't remember. And lo and behold, something appeared on the counter. My mouth watered. I was about to EAT. And I was about to eat like a king. Well, maybe not, but when you're as hungry as I was, even a rotten caterpillar feels like a food of the gods. I go up to the counter and I notice that the damn plate is EMPTY. I grabbed the cup in which my drink would be served.. and guess what? Empty too. I don't even have words to describe how pissed and disappointed I was.

I just wanted to eat. This all feels like a very sick joke. Worst of all? I see a mini fridge across the counter that I can't access because there is an invisible wall blocking my path. Whichever god or divine entity or whatever designed this place is fucking twisted. Well, anyway, I guess the reason I'm writing this is to warn whoever ends up here not to get their hopes up. Just say something to the voice so it shuts up, but don't expect your food to arrive.

The bright side is this place is completely empty. No entities, no nothing. So even if you're gonna starve here, at least you're gonna starve peacefully, I guess. But jokes aside, it really is a great place to rest. No dangers, nothing to bother you, just some calming music.

Anyways.. I hope whoever comes across this note is doing better than I am.

Colonies and Outposts[]

Due to the nature of this level, colonies and outposts are unable to be established.

Entrances and Exits[]

Entrances[]

  • Some wanderers reported ending up in this level during or after experiencing periods of extreme distress (e.g. being chased by an entity, feeling intense hunger, etc).
  • Entering a fast-food establishment in Level Epsilon will lead one here.

Exits[]

  • Taking the door opposite the counter will take you to a random Class 1 level.
